Watched this review before buying mine, helped cement my decision. Thanks! I was able to easily mount a front radiator by getting some of the same 6-32 1-1/4" machine screws that the H100i uses for it's fans. I removed the short stubby screws holding the middle case fan in, then screwed the 1-1/4" machine screws through the fan and into the back of the radiator. 2 more of the screw holes of the radiator lined up with the case just between the top and middle case fans, so I used motherboard screws with those. 6 out of 8 mounting points on the radiator attached to the case, so it isn't going anywhere. (I also took some scissors to the front dust filter so that I could screw through it... defeats the purpose of it being magnetic since I'll have to take it all apart when it gets dusty - but oh well). This method works for me because I only have 2 SSDs and no HDD... So I cut the air guide in half and just mounted them in the bottom slots. (I like to keep them cool, even if they would probably be fine without active airflow) ^hope this textwall helps someone

i have a question i buy also that case but i cant control the case fan speed from the front panel.. how to enable the fan control without any software all the fans and rgb leds work properly but front panel fan speed button doesnt work when i want to control the fan speed ?? do you have any information about that ?

after 5 years of having this case i can say for sure for those of you who are wondering if u should buy it the cooling is absurd , i have 8 cougar vortex 120mm rgb fan + a 360mm radiator and an atx motherboard and due the radioter being in the front for maximum cooling i have to cut about half an inch of my power supply plastic cover no big deal but it is to consider, cable management is pretty thigh in this case also to mount my rad i had to remove the air duct it is removable i had to otherwise i wouldnt be able to mount my radiator, i have an i9 12900k and in cpu demanding games i have temperatures between 30 and 42 degrees Celsius

Hello, thank you for this review. I wanted to ask if my 12.0" x 10.7" motherboard will fit and still have room for the wires to fit through the grommets to the back? Also would a NH-D15 air cooler fit in this and still have room for the front glass to shut? They are 165mm (6.5 inches) from front to back. Liked and sub'd!

Its the first time that I am gonna change to cougar this year cause obviously along with corsair they have the best rgb options. And I was wondering with psu chamber can you leave it open without the protection? Cause I have the Asus rog Thor psu so it isn't something you wanna hide.

Hello , i see that you have installed your aio on top of the case. The radiator is from the inside part of the box and the fans are from the outside. What are the termals with this setup? actually shared base with MAX model is good thing, you can remove upper frontal cooler and put it up, remove frontal panel connectors, take MAX front panel and max ODD\5.25 tray and put it in and get a hybrid of MAX and EVO. And if you think ODD is not something you need (Well you can now get USB 3.0 ODDs for your old disk collection), than you can still use 2 odd slots with 5.25 adapter to put in 2 extra 3.5 and even extra 4x 2.5 hdds or ssds (I saw adapters like one the comes with some temaltakes that allow to put one 3.5 and two 2.5 disks in one 5.25 slot), or some card reader, or external hot swap hdd bay (which is pretty useful thing, I had previous cougar case Evolution and it had built in external sata tray, which was really comfortable to transfer data from old disks or to even backup data to disk that is not normally stored in PC) or some fancy led panel with tempts and or other stats. And good thing - frontal panel of MAX has enough of holes and transparency to make all the RGB leds visible enough while it also will me air flow better and more protected from dust... actually whole trend of glass in front o cools is quite stupid, its design over practical functionality, so in my opinion MAX model is better and more practical, I just wish they can sell spare part like doors, panels and connectors, so I can easily replace one side door with glass door like in EVO, fortunately same controller and fans that are present in EVO are already available at stores (not in my country however, so im looking for a way to get them cheap somewhere), so you can partially pimp up MAX to EVO with those coolers.

If you move the front fans into the case, the airflow is improved a lot. You will need to remove the air duct for the SSD though, but it still gets air behind the mobo.

@@treefiddy727 temps are great straight from the box, but moving the fans into the case reduced them by around 5 degrees or so, moving the fans back stopped them from getting choked by the front panel. It's a great case, I'm not sure why it's not more popular.

@@RuffsTV good to know, thanks. Yeah I read the Tom's review on this case and was impressed by the thermal numbers and the fact it was also quieter than the competition. Bottom intake is another plus as I'm running a Vega 64. Originally had planned on a H500M mesh but going with this instead

That's what I don't with my fans but with no radiator only thing tho is I wish I got this one instead of the regular Evo coz of the USB c connector at front another thing is when I pick it up by the handles it warps the case in a way where the front view of the case no longer is the same width across from left to right from the bottom to the top they start out normal at the top but when u look down the bottom the with is wider sux so don't do that always pick it up normally like I do from now on

Specs state that the fans should be mounted inside the case. I thought about this for a while and it makes sense for the fronts but not really for the tops and back?? It's weird how I went back and forth with the idea that fans will be better served pushing against stock screens or pulling past stock screens. I don't know how the work load would change if at all.

Anybody have issues with connecting RGB lighting with this case? I cant seem to get the lights to work but fans work fine! Extremely frustrated. The rgb controller doesn't seem to work and i cant figure out why.

What is the, or best COMPATIBLE matching RGB strip would go well with this case? I find the area where the PSU shroud is kind of dark and want to light the area. I Got this case before watching this review but VERY nice review for the case that answered some questions i had about it. I do absolutely LOVE this case and it's my first fully built PC. My only worry is the airflows but i guess it's normal since I'm coming from a laptop. I was wondering if i should remove the front glass panel and using something else to cover it with better airflow.

Great review man :) A question poped out: The front panel has 1 USB 3.1 type C + 2 USB 3.0 + 1 USB 2.0. My question is, if the case has those front panel connectors, does the case come with the cables that you need to connect them to the motherboard? Or do i need to buy the cables to connect them?

The case comes with the cables to connect them, but not all motherboards have the sockets to plug them in (particularly the USB3.1 type C). There's plenty of cable length to hook them up, however.

Gareth Harmer I think i'm fine. The MOBO is a Asus ROG MAXIMUS X HERO (WI-FI AC) ATX LGA1151. It has a 1x (USB 3.1 Gen 2 front panel connector) + 1 x (USB 3.1 Gen 1 connector) and USB 2.0 connectors. Maybe i will need this (www.amazon.com/dp/B010NBLRHK/ref=psdc_464394_t2_B0742GDTQZ) -> to convert the USB 3.1 Gen 1 connector to the 2 (USB 3.0 front panel ports)

You asked why it still has a solitary usb 2.0 on the front i/o panel. I would guess as an option for a front mounted bluetooth dongle because usb 3.0 is known to interfere with bluetooth sound. I'm glad it's there for exactly this reason. In fact I won't be buying any case without one.

So, I'm looking into getting this case. I'm going to get a 3 fan CPU rad for this. But, I was wondering if you could buy 3 more of those same fans it comes with, and control it using the remote that comes with the case

You can definitely get the fans seperately - I've seen them on sale for about £15 individually in the UK. The breakout box for RGB has enough space to control 8 fans and two LED strips in total, which should cover what you need. Have a look for Cougar Vortex RGB 120mm at your local parts supplier.

I've had this case for a year and with a 2080ti/9900k, I've never seen the temps hit 70. My only problem with it is having to mount the radiator on top with fans on the outside of case. Wish there was more room. But the temps are great so I guess there's nothing to worry about.

Also what cooler are you using?I have the h115i pro, I am thinking about making a jump from the 8700k to the 9900k. My temps are sitting at about 64 overclocked to 4.7. on a stress test for an hour. So im thinking i should be sitting at around 70 with the same setup.

It depends. If you have a motherboard that supports direct addressable RGB, you might be able to hook these fans up using the included cable adaptors. But it's not something I've been able to try myself, and I woudn't count on it.

This case has compatibility issues with thick motherboard backplates due to the mounting standoffs. The standoffs for ATX are merged with the screw holes and thus cannot be removed, you have to cut/adjust them with a dremel.

@@memed6836 I have the Aorus Master Z390, only had issue with one mounting hole because this case doesn't have standoffs for ATX mobos, the "standoffs" are merged with the case, so you cannot remove them if the backplate hits these static standoffs, which are actually part of the case. However, it does have removable standoffs fot micro ATX mobos.

I just couldn't get this when it came out with no reviews. I couldn't tell where the air flow was coming from. I bought the H500M instead , but it's gonna be a royal pain to build in. Don't go with the H500P first release with the plastic front panel. It has bad front and top mounts and terrible air flow. Get this or the H500P Mesh.

Because why would somebody review a case and include thermal testing or talk about that muffled front panel made of glass inhibiting airflow. Because everything today is how about something looks, not how it functions or feels. Also, those RGB strips when you see individual diodes look ugly af.
