I know Johanna mea culpa is a sort of pretty song that does gives depth to the judge-other than just making him heartless. It’s cut from a lot of performances. Like I understand why but I would’ve included it.

Seriously, this could work if you had a chamber orchestra, but with that many instruments, you gotta muffle the sound somehow. I'm hoping the theater they did this in has high ceilings on stage, which would swallow a lot of the orchestra sound while the actors' voices come through the mains - that way the audience would have gotten a more balanced mix than we're getting here. Still, just use the Pit, yall

Excellent performances by the cast. Orchestral balance a bit too strong, but I know the score so well it only interferes at times. And hands down the sexiest Sweeney I've seen to date. Daniel Megaffin should be a major star IMO. He totally rules this incredibly difficult yet rewarding role.

My friend and I are planning on doing a two person rendition of the Sweeney Todd songs as a Halloween special to open my KZbin Covers channel, so I’ve been scouring KZbin to find different versions of this musicals as a way to kind of research and get into character. I have to say, I think this might be my favorite version! Antony just looks so sweet and innocent! I know that’s how his character is intended to be, but none of the Antonies I’ve seen get it down to the degree that this one does. I think this is the best Pirelli I’ve seen as well. The outfit was perfect for the character, and the actor played his craziness. Johanna’s voice isn’t annoying but still hits all the notes, which is refreshing to me. Sweeney and Lovett are amazing of course! I love that Sweeney has long hair in this one- I always thought it was strange that he has short hair in every play. Like this man was in prison in Australia for 15 years, and came so bent on revenge when he got to London that he wouldn’t have had the time or the care to cut it himself. The only time he could have gotten it cut was on the boat, but something tells me he was so broken he didn’t care when he was on the boat either. He also looks like a normal, everyday civilian, which makes everything more eerie because you have to rely on the story and songs to see him as the villain, since he doesn’t look like one. (well, not counting the times the actor makes his p.o.d face 😂). He and Lovett look really happy during Little Priest, which is sooo refreshing. All the other ones show them happy and laughing true, but not to the extent of this one, which Iove!

I think it is worth mentioning that this version has nothing to do with the film by Tim Burton, sorry for the fans of Jonny Deep, this is an adaptation of the orginal play of Broadway with Angela Lansbury and George Hearn although the movie is of high quality; They are very different productions (theater and TV)

Ehh, good for a musical, I can tell their hearts are truely in it. I'm in love with the cast. I just kind of wished it was more grubby, dark, and dirty, if that makes sense. I also think Lucy should look a bit more crazed. This is just my opinion though. Maybe I'm too Tim Burton biased if you get my drift.

I thought Maddy Mant was fantastic. During 'My Friends', before her lines come up, she was over there breathing hard like a cheetah, ready to pounce on him. And Queen Pirelli too; although he's not the best singer, his performance was great. Seemed that Daniel Megaffin had to warm up. He really butchered a few big notes in 'My Friends', but by the time he got to 'Epiphany' he was hot. What was so jarring , and a pity, is how flat the horns were. In "Ladies in Sensitivities" Beadle has several high notes in the quartet, which were struggling against that horn. B t this is a very ambitious musical, and they did great.
