In this episode, we try to upgrade the MN-128 to brushless. The upgrade worked, but it proved too powerful for the crawler. However, I learned a lot and got the foundation ready for the right motor later.
We hope you enjoy these videos, and please let us know what you think in the comments. All constructive comments are welcome.

Can you add the link for parts you used?

Hello, although this upgrade worked. It ran way too fast for crawling. But for trail running, it may be just fine. Here list the list of parts that I used: Note: the drive shaft is not in this video, but I did break one crawling with this upgrade. Hi Bill...first, I want to say "thanks" for the detailed video. I'm just starting out and found your guide video very, very helpful. I'd like to make one suggestion though, could you possible use an overhead lamp during your bench work? With everything in the vehicle being black already, you can't really see in great detail where certain screws are going, or differentiate one part from another. Also, if possible, could you do a detailed video on lighting? I see that you installed lights on your 4 spotlights on top. I'd like to understand how to construct the wiring for the lights, how to determine the proper voltage, and where to plug the new lights into the board. I haven't checked out all of your videos yet, so maybe you've covered lights in one of those, but I certainly need the knowledge, one way or the other. Thanks again for your "how to's" and taking out the time to put something like this together! Cheers!

I agree with you on that one. The black plastic is tough to see. I have two large studio flat panel lights right above the workbench. Looks like I need one more. I am starting to do a better close-up of what I am doing to each part. Watch for that in future videos.

I am sorry about that. I thought I showed that in a different video. I will make a quick video showing how to dissemble the MN128. Look for that this weekend.

@BillsWorkbench

@@BillLionaire12 there are 8 screws to remove the body. There are 4 in the middle, and two under each wheel. On my video about the lights, I show where those screws are.

Hi, can I replace it with a 2845 motor or similar motors? And what module gear do you use to make the car run smoothly? Thanks.

Although the motor I used "worked" it was not good from crawling. It was great for trail and high speed stuff. It lacked low end control. I am trying a new motor from Injora, but I am still waiting on the ESC. I will have a video on that adventure soon.

But to answer your question. You need to find a motor with a 2mm shaft and 15-16mm spacing for the mounting screws. You will need to file the motor mount with a rat tail file to make it work as well. The length of the motor is also important no more than 55mm.

Help!!....I haven't had this for 2 weeks yet and it's not responding to the remote...should I return it or is this an easy fix?
@BillsWorkbench
@BillsWorkbench 4 ай бұрын
It could be many different things. 1. These are not waterproof. If you go in the mud or water, they could be fried. 2. You must have your radio on first before turning on the MN-128 or other MN model crawler 3. If the crawler's lights are blinking, it means it can't find the controller (transmitter). 4. There is a light somewhere on the transmitter. Could you make sure it's lit up? Could you check the batteries in the transmitter? 5. Depending on how rough you are with the battery connector or wire, it may break or come loose from the radio board. That is an easy check. I would check this if the lights on the crawler are not lighting up. Hope this helps.
