Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture. With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

The joys of farming with your father. Wait 20 minutes for him to show up so he can make the decision just for him to tell you to do what you were already going to do/already doing. Most frustrating days of my farming career but I miss it more than anything. You’ll always miss the sound of his tires hitting the driveway. It’s a sound I can never forget

I found your channel because I love learning about farming and all the machinery. Now I find myself fascinated by the people. The relationship between you and your dad, how you have mentored Onyx into bigger and bigger responsibilities, how your community rallies when someone is in need, how you work tirelessly but also cut away for family and fun. I tip my hat to you and yours.

What is remarkable to me a retired food system engineer is how similar your job is to what my job was like when I ran a cereal production line. Yeah stuff is automated but you have to have the maintenance done and trouble shooting done etc. real difference is you turn the wrench’s and run the equipment on top of supervising the systems that make everything work together. Great content.

Zach, a lot of the other Tubers are complaining that they are also having issues with pods and what looks like sporadic patches of green that don't appear to be drying down. They are seeing beans in the 8-10% moisture content range. When the beans are lighter than the pods, well, you're feeding the deer this fall and winter. I blame the new hybrids.

Many years ago when I first bought a used combine with no experience or advice I quickly figured out that if you could not keep a consistent amount of crop going through the machine then your settings (cylinder speed, concave gap, fan speed, sieves) were subject to great variability and it was nearly impossible to achieve what you are looking for, any change in the crop stand, ground speed, temperature or even the wind speed will change everything so don't worry about it just get it close and get it done. You will lose a lot more if a windstorm comes along than you will out the back of that combine, just my thoughts......carry on.
@stephenbarten7803
@stephenbarten7803 3 сағат бұрын
If the crop isn't fit you can't make a sample as the beans will stick to the green material and go out the back with it and it doesn't matter which colour the combine is. I watch a lot of American farming videos and have often wondered why nobody has a grain cleaner before it goes into the bin, would remove some of the pods but would definetly remove all the fines from the corn which seem to cause so many storage issues. Just curious!

Not gonna lie, looking at those straight pipes reminded me of a time when my grandfather said "We need to build a step bridge across those pipes before someone decides to step on them to get across." I don't know how often you need to get across those pipes... and maybe those pipes are tougher than the ones we had... They just look like something that could get crushed if someone tries to step on them.
