Geologist here. The lines in the rock (14:02) are veins of a mineral such as quartz which is harder than the rest of the rock. So the rock has been eroded away since its softer

Zach I noticed your Peterbilt has an auxiliary power unit attached. You know you can put the apu in fan mode and turn the fan dial to off position and the apu will be in stand by mode. It will start up when it senses low battery level and shut off again when your batteries are fully charged. Save yourself a lot of trouble charging batteries.

Rock picking technology is mind boggling. Not like the old days when you wandered around the field and either used the hydraulic rock picker or front end loader. Something for an old retired guy to do.
@moosedogdad7 сағат бұрын
Or riding behind the tractor on a sheet of old steel bolted between two heavy boards with chains running to the tractor. Uncle drove the tractor and us cousins would load rocks by hand. When we had a good load we went to the side of the field, preferable in a shelter belt, and throw them off. Was told the rig was originally pulled by horses.

@backfill91835 сағат бұрын
Have you thought about using a rock crusher pulled behind one of your tractors?
@paulanderson7893Сағат бұрын
@backfill9183 the pull type pickers would beat the top of the soil too fine and leave the soil at risk for wind erosion
@backfill9183Сағат бұрын
@@paulanderson7893 I said crusher, not picker. Yes I could understand it being to fine, my experience has taught me that set up of a crusher with a packer behind it leaves little to no chance of erosion. Just a thought for the super rocky ground, otherwise Tera clear is a awesome company to work with
@paulanderson78939 минут бұрын
@backfill9183 it is the windrower that causes the fine soil for the erosion. A rock crusher requires a lot of energy to reduce the rocks into gravel. In an area like Minnesota without gravel deposits, crushing rock makes sense. Where I live, there are ample gravel deposits available, so the rock crushing doesn't makes sense
