One very Beautiful rifle action. Would love to have one for a 404 Jeffery. And fair-dinkum how incredible are those Walnut stocks with all the beautiful figure and grain.

Thank you for sharing, like the care you at MNR Custom give each creation, can be seen here at Granite Mountain Arms as they produce these wonderful Magnum Mauser Actions. Like the years I worked for Weatherby in the gun-shop. It always comes down to placing Quality and Care first above all else to achieve something folks will love and pass on.

Weatherby has NO quality and zero care of its guns or customers. I've had 3 Weatherby Mark 5s that are defective, and the last one had the chamber reamed off center and as all-time times that Weatherby warrant women Threasa the BICTH ! blames me for the rifles problems and even saying to me the gun is in spec and you just don't know how to shoot a Weatherby then slammed the phone down on me. Weatherby's Grandson had taken over the company then fired all the long time American born employees then replaced them with Biden invader Illegal immigrants. KZbin videos are now full of people with defective Weatherby guns and the same response from Weatherby warranty it's your fault the guns are having problems

Can’t imagine doing one of these on a manual machine… And then the hand finish work.

It's great that one can find such new actions in the US. FZH and Prechtl, both of Germany, do produce fabulous M98 actions, too. The new Mauser brand company, owned by Blaser, uses one of those actions. Dumoulin of Belgium als offered such actions, not whether he still does and whether he machined them himself.

I'm actually considering buying one of these actions. I thought $3500 was a little steep. You have to consider these actions are 100 percent machined and built by hand and are hand fitted. There's definitely more attention to detail, along with more rigorous quality control. Factories that produce modern renditions of the 98 and their cousins use stamped, forged and cast parts to keep costs down. Said Factories use jigs and fixtures to also help cut costs. For instance if you look at the magazine well and floor plate on a Granite mountain those said components are milled out and use 100 percent machined steel components. Now if you compare said action components to something like a Zastava m70, CZ 550, Ruger 77 or Winchester model 70 those said action components are made from aluminum alloy and utilize stamped parts. Jigs and fixtures are used to make the components. Let's look at the receivers themselves, Factory CRF rifles either forge or cast the receivers. I believe CZ and Ruger cast their receivers prior to machining. Winchester and Zastava I believe forge their receivers. With a Granite Mountain, you definitely get what you pay for. I'm not saying Factory actions are bad. What I'm saying you are getting a hand made product. With machining every component equals labor, equals unparalleled fit and finish. This facilitates accuracy and reliability. Pair one of these actions with a premium barrel. You'll more than likely have a rifle that looks sexy and best the performance of any custom PRS rifle out there. Such custom rifles are also heirlooms.

Reto Buehler made a 404 Jeffery for me using a left handed Granite Mountain small ring 'Magnum' action with the double square bridge. It is a work of art that has a couple cape buffalo and a big eland to its credit. It is my pride and joy among my rifles. One day I will order a K sized G33/40 Action to build a lightweight LH sporting rifle - probably in 7X57. Fun to dream, eh?

How 'bout the receiver? Not just the trigger guard and mag well. Maybe it was the editing but it looks like GM could use some better CAM software with more efficient tool paths

I guess we'll have to go back :) We just filmed what he happened to be running that day, which was the bottom metal. As to tool paths, I'm sure it was the editing. Condensing several hours of footage into 6 minutes will make tool paths look a little funky.

Thanks for posting this interesting trigger guard bottom metal manufacturing process. It is easy to understand, lots of companies started to used plastic trigger guard and stamped sheet metal for rapid process. Customized made mauser action is expensive. I read that made K98 needs more than 100 steps(different types of general tooling machine, some of toolings are specially made for bolt strange shape, the cost will be lower only during mass production). A modern german customer made mauser action takes more than 90 hours.

Thank you for your comment. Yes, the amount of work that goes into these actions is incredible. For those unacquainted with the manufacturing process I'm sure the price seems high, but when you realize what's involved they are quite the bargain.

Last I checked in october, they weren't taking orders and have a 12 month or greater lead time on Safari magnum caliber rifles. I wanted an action built for a 577 Tyrannosaur and they had no interest in helping me with that. I guess they're allergic to easy money.

@@mossranchoutdoors7249 that’s a shame. I just wanted to open up my collection with more 375 H&H rifles but didn’t want to buy a old rigby. I’d would’ve rather payed an American company for a cnc square bridge version that was much stronger than the original rigby.

@@mnrcustomllc8253 Yes, instructors were great, I’m sure it’s changed a bit since I was there..lol I know classes had gotten a lot larger, and they are offering some more curriculum. I know they finally got rid of that old Don Allen duplicator a number of years ago now..😳 I nearly bought that thing at auction, just out of nostalgia; but didn’t want to make the trip from Florida just for it...🤣 Loving the vids brutha, you should put more out, however I know how it is having to set everything up, edit, etc. I have a channel that deals with J. Stevens Arms & Tool firearms almost exclusively, and I’ve got about two dozen vids I need to get to..😉

Respectfully, they may be overpriced for you, but they're certainly not overpriced for the amount of hours that go into them or for what people are willing to pay. They have a 6 month waiting list.

@@mnrcustomllc8253 They are overpriced for what they are. The development costs have long been recovered. What people are willing to pay has nothing to do with what they should cost, by the way. These are raw products and my conversations with numerous high end gunsmiths will tell you so. By now, the production of them should be more efficient, considering they are made on modern machinery.
