Sometimes we cant bridge that. In times of plenty it is easier to be tolerant and open minded. But when times get tough the differences start to become the friction points. Also theres often a difference. Many westerners when they go live in foreign culture go out of their way to adopt that culture, to become part of it, even in places where it is not so easy, like Japan, where the society is very homogenous. But notice, that many imigrant from say Africa moving to Germany or France create communities of their own people, they actively try to keep the customs from their home from religion to culture. They dont asimilate into their new environment and locals see it and dont like it. It is human to suspect the foreign, to distrust it. Jews in europe had similar problem, they kept to themselves, behaved in a different way thatn the rest of society they lived in and when things got though, then came the pogroms...

However, I think people are rarely binary in thought and I consider it well possible for someone to quickly change their opinion through experience, as humans generally do over larger periods of time. There is a truth to your statement that these people are racists. However, it omits the second truth that they do not all have to stay that way. Moreover, even if someone is affected by this condition, it doesn't have to entirely dominate their lives. Also, please consider that nazi groups generally do not allow open-mindedness or consideration. Showing up on camera seemingly tolerating the existence and ideas of a supposed enemy, that's not something you'll get credit for within those groups. It is very likely people who listen and pay attention will be branded as weak and punished for collaborating. Chances are therefore that if someone is shown to be considerate, they truly are from the depths of their human heart. You can see the usual fearful reaction to cameras and questions, the turning away and insulting, harassing, which leads to praise within the group. That's not even an exclusively nazi thing, that's found in many groups which (purposefully) mistake deflection for strength; the louder and more aggressively you reject opposing points, the more firm in your belief you are thought to be within the group. In reality, the stronger you are, the more open to ideas you can be, because you have the character foundation that isn't built on your worldview.

What's also stupid about that term is that 1. Not all blacks are "African American". I was born here, not in Africa. Also, there's literally Jamaicans, Haitians, and other races that are black. So with that logic, I guess every white person in America is from Europe. And every Hispanic person is a Mexican. 2.
