But now you have conservatives blacks down playing this type of behavior. The KZbin podcast are full of them
@netkosent16202 жыл бұрын
Probably more complicated than that, right? Just like the black actors doing it, the white actors have expectations they have to meet (same as today really, even KZbinrs). It really reflects upon the people as a whole though, which are the machine that drives what we think is popular or trending. So the actors may or may not have hated black people, but it lets you know where society as a bigger whole was at during those times to even begin to think that it's okay. More so, similar to the Nazis, the white people in power were creating a system to convince people that black people are a certain way (was even intended to make black people also think that about their own people). Nazis used their propaganda machine to do the same and even if you weren't a German against Jewish people, it created a societal normal that desensitized the masses toward the horrific things they were doing and going to do; even if you disagreed, your voice was diminished by the voice of society so you didn't speak/act out against it. Sort of like when people say "boys will be boys," it completely dismisses the behavior and intent by implying that its simply something normal that one should accept. However, the actors and such today, it shows you where society is at now. They did what they did, and instead of society accepting it, they dealt with it instead. Personally, I learned a lot from this video about it and didn't really know the history to it at all. I wasn't the best student in the world, but I'm positive they never taught us this in school here when growing up. Anyways, as you said, it's all insane really. I'm glad that I was born into a generation that we can all sit and reflect on it together though. Wasn't that long ago where that wasn't possible. Sometimes it's hard to see/hear through all the noise from the previous generations that are still alive, but the newer generations are more united together with each other than any of the previous generations have ever seen. Only a matter of time now. Probably even the reason why the Gov been trying to divide us a lot more lately; they don't want us working together.

That's because black culture glorifies young black men who rap about committing crimes. White children have been forced to integrate and are confused by that glorification,they try to emulate the trends they see in black culture and it leads them down the path to prison. ADVICE TO ANY PARENT WHO HAS CHILDREN WHO WANT TO DRESS UP AS BLACK HISTORICAL FIGURES FOR ANY REASON: If you're child wants to be a black historical figure for Halloween, School, what ever reason but their not black then they can just don't make them wear black face, for p example: When I was in third grade, we had a activity to tribute for people like George Washington, Abarham Linkin, Matin Luther King Jr, ext. I wanted to be Harriet Tubman but I'm a white girl and she's black... Not a problem, I was a *white* Harriett Tubman and did *not* use blackface, my mom was scared but then I told my mixed teacher who I was (she's mixed between black and white) and she was delighted! She even told me that I was her favorite since Tubman was her hero! In short, don't use blackface. Your child can just be a different race version of the black person they're trying to be.

The fact of the matter is, blackface is offensive. However, it shouldn't be swept under the rug and forgotten. Like many controversial topics of the past, it should be discussed and studied so as to fully understand where people's minds once were, and then judged appropriately and accordingly on how far we've come as a society.

Wrong snowflake. the only way to truly heal as a nation and bring all Races together is to stop ripping off the scabs of old wounds and teaching people about racism. you can't have your cake and eat it too. You can't continuously complain about racism and teach young kids about "evil white people" and then expect the races to come together and heal. you are only perpetuating Division and anger. @R Lopez actually no. The only difference is that the free money whites get is labeled as subsidies or grants, while for minorities it's called welfare. The $12 billion Trump is handing farmers is called 'aid. The $6 billions he's giving to people addicted to opioids is called relief. 76% of Medicare recipients are white. In Alaska, which is almost exclusively white, every citizen gets a paycheck each year from the government. Let's not mention in the 30s and 40s the millions of homes and land the government handed out almost exclusively to white people by backing their loans. These are all facts you can look up. The vast majority recipient of government money are white people, who then look down on anyone else who receives any help. Why don't you tell them to stop looking for hellp from the man

Yes! It is a great opportunity to address the topic. As I had said in another comment. Most people don’t understand what black face means. How dangerous it is. Just because we don’t do it like that generation doesn’t mean the message of it is still not in this country. I have seen many classic movies of whites and blacks putting the makeup on. I was always disturbed by it and saw no humor in it. I saw it as laughing at the black culture. I’m glad it is being talked about.

And the geographic make up of the world also have a huge impact over how the cultures of this world developed. White people by geography whilst black people where cursed. Atleast, for the use of civilization and empire building. White people also have the most racist cultural history. On the oposite end of that the native Americans didn't care what Race you where, if you where in the tribe and you where a good person they would love you. If you where from an ennimy tribe though... Thats a different story...

It is important for us to recognize that while Black people are a creative people, that is not ALL we are about. Blackface was an exaggeration and thus mocking of us in a stereotypical manner. For some it was entertainment and for others it was pure hatred. We need to also be aware that especially in the beginning it was not just about entertainment but also about keeping Blacks out of the business altogether, as it also was for the native people. I give a respectful salute to those Black pioneers who pressed past the humiliation made the sacrifices and acquiesced to the stereotypical roles so that people of color could gradually enter in to the world of entertainment in a more truthful and dignified way.

chris richard since you asked, archeologists, anthropologists have known for years although historians have failed to acknowledge that while Europe was still very much underdeveloped many things, not just jazz music, but musical systems. If you were to visit South Africa and hear music expressed there, you would see the roots of harmony, rhythms, polyrhythms, musical instruments....All of the arts, architecture, agriculture, cannons, meat cleavers, flying missiles, gas motors, arts, sciences, mathematics; geometry, astrology, the use of spoken word to communicate, governmental systems and standards were being developed on the continent of Africa or by the sons of Noah’s son, Ham, from Egypt (as Ancient Africa was once known) as far as Asia. Did you happen to see the movie, “Hidden Figures,” a true story documenting the fact that three Black American women at NASA, Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughn, and Mary Jackson, were the brains responsible for launching astronaut, John Glenn into orbit. Let’s fast forward to modern day. Do you use GPS? Well Dr. Gladys Mae West (1930) is Black American mathematician, known for her contributions to the mathematical modeling of the shape of the planet Earth and one of the team responsible for the GPS. I’m going to guess you never read about or heard of George Washington Carver and his extensive and revolutionary work with the peanut; Black American surgeon, Dr Charles Drew and His work that brought about large scale blood banks during WWII. Black inventor, Alexander Miles patented the first electric elevator in America in 1887. How about Dr. Ben Carson former Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, who performed the only successful separation of conjoined twins and more. Even the Christian religion! There is a book called “ How Africa Shaped the Christian Mind” by Dr. Thomas C. Oden. Or since you’re a You Tuber, there is a lecture or two by Dr Oden right here. I could go on, and if I thought you were the type to do his own research, I could provide you with a list of authors, historians, economists, researchers etc., dating back to the 1700’s, most of whom were European, who have chronicled the contributions coming from the so-called “Negroid” people. Oh and then there is noted Black historian, Thomas Sowell. But anyway the Black contribution to this great nation is a far cry more than JUST jazz music. ...and then there is “rap” lol! ...once despised by White America, now enmeshed in everyday cultural expression around the world. Hope I’ve helped you see what is in a “people” who have persevered through every attempt to oppress, depress, reject, and repress them, but have pressed through with our God-given abilities and helped all of us to enjoy life as we’ve known it. At the very least, remember the Black American when you eat your next PB&J sandwich.
