Great selection of trails! These are pretty much the prettiest trails in Moab. Take potash Trail, spend some time on white rim, head up Schaeffer switchbacks, and then come back down Long Canyon. Take Highway 129 to and from this loop. This makes for a really great day of riding. Make sure to get the free day pass for white rim trail before you do this, it can be done the day of. Lockhart basin is essentially an extension of Hurrah pass. Include the optional side route of Lockhart Canyon for a 60 mile two day trip. We did this, and our campground was right in the middle. We have never experienced such solitude in our lives. There was no moon, clouds, wind, lights, people, background hum of a city, glow from a nearby town in the sky, or any sign of human life for the entire night. It was so quiet you could hear your heartbeat. It was exceptionally therapeutic, a special night.

If you get a chance, go to the other side to the Dollhouse (Maze District), it's only a few miles (as the bird flies) from Lockhart Canyon but almost like a different world over there. Thanks for commenting!

I Cannot thank you enough for showing me this. My friends and I are planning a trip out to the Mighty Five. they were all trying to tell me the National Parks dont allow riding and I was pushing back stating that UTAH is huge and there are tons of places to ride. The areas you are riding in are just about my level of riding. I am actually surprised at the amount of trails. AGAIN. THANK YOU. I cant wait to take my bike out there and explore. WOOHOO!!! Eric, Mansfield, MA.
@RidefreakTV23 күн бұрын
Utah is a riding paradise, the riding in NPs is limited to marked vehicle trails of which there are some good ones. If your interested I have video of canyonlands, capitol Reef, not much if any dirt riding in Zion or Brice but near both there's lots of BLM land that you can ride. Thanks for tuning-in Eric.

It's crazy just how many of these I've done in my Xterra 4x4, and now I want to go back and experience them from a dual sport...

Reminds me how great the riding there was. I rented a KTM from a shop in Moab and rode through Canyonlands up to the top of the plateau (sorry, don't recall the name of the road.) The guy showed me an "easy canyon " to come back down on the map and I assumed "easy"! Once I started there was no going back, it was slip and slide down a dry waterfall to the bottom. Super pucker. I think he assumed I had skills! The KTM saved my butt, and the rest of the day was just sightseeing. Tons of fun! Oh, and he said "there's no gas along the way, take this" It was a Prestone jug full of gas in a backpack! I rode the day with a bomb on my back!😄

Thanks for the great vid. Your vid ends with "Lockhart basin" which does not seem BB friendly as you state, but is there also a Lockhart Canyon that is part of the easy jeep route out to Chicken Corner? I watched an easy Jeep vid ride yo Chicken Corner and the said they were going thru Lockhart Basin ... wondering if they were confused and were really in Lockhart Canyon?
@RidefreakTV2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's exactly what happened, on the road out to chicken corners there's a distinct LH turn up a slot canyon that's anything but easy (going that direction) to get to Lockhart Basin which is the next basin beyond the one encompassing chicken corners. You can see it if you pull up a map. There's no "easy" way to get to LB from the north.

Chris, That was stupendous! My heart was so touched to see your compilation!!Nothing but the best of the best... so nostalgic and happy that I've had the opportunity to experience ALL those places! I'm know in part, you're the motivation for having seen and ridden these places. Watching your videos years ago inspired me to see them as well. Nothing but awesome memories on those flawless routes! ...however, there was one route you mentioned that had a minor flaw: Route "129" is really Route "128", but it is the only one on Asphalt, but that part's not your fault ;-) Thanks so much!

Very well done. I've done all of those trails too, but on atv instead. That first mile into Lockhart is a doozy some years. Last time I went up it, I had 150 pounds of camping gear on my racks and had to winch up the last part.😄

@@RidefreakTV I forgot about that one! I came into that from the top on a side trip from the Dolores River Overlook. I parked at the top and walked down it about 300 yards and decided not to risk it. Wow! Great compilation. Sticking this in my future trips play list. I was thinking Cane Creek was more of a dirt bike ride than a dual sport. Is there an easy out?
@RidefreakTV4 жыл бұрын
Kane Creek is an out and back for most people, the first part where the video is shot is easy graded road then it splits, the left continues on into Kane Canyon and the right takes you up over Hurrah Pass and on to Chicken Corners or into Lockhart Basin. The ride out to Chicken corners is big bike friendly. The rest of Kane Creek is technical smaller bike stuff. If you can see most of those places on a trip to Moab you'd have done well, it's allot of riding between some of the spots in that video. Hey Joe Mine and Rosegarden Hill are the only two places in that vid that aren't BB friendly.
@RidefreakTV4 жыл бұрын
This is the part of Kane Creek thats dirt bike but you could ride the 450 on it. Probably not the Big KTM though: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4ubiZaqm8qhgJY
