Moananuiākea | Leg 8 - Monterey Arrival

Leg 8 crewmembers depart Half Moon Bay and head to Monterey Bay. Several pods of whales, dolphins, and seals join Hōkūleʻa along the way before the waʻa is greeted and escorted by several canoes from the Hiʻilani Outrigger Canoe Club. The Rumsen Ohlone tribe welcome Hōkūleʻa in their native waters and give permission for the crew to come on land.
