In human psychology, when your "fight or flight" has decided on fight, the frontal lobes that are later developments that house our reflective thought and empathy shut down as we need to act to save ourselves NOW, not wonder if this or that action is wise or reasoned. The great thing about this episode is that it equates Mob's psychic abilities with other more mundane special abilities, like singing or athleticism. It really brings his character down to earth, and shows that even in this setting full of super psychics, everyone is still human.

What happened there is that they showed that Mob´s powers are so strong that he is basically like a force of nature that even he can´t control and that can cause a lot of destruction if Mob loses control. Also, you can tell that the themes related to being humble despite being powerful is something that is shown in one punch man and in mob psycho 100 too. Both met people who were full of pride due to their power and that after meeting them became humble people.

This show does a great job with the writing. Mob technically kept his promise and didn't fight using powers. However, something else fought in his place.

An uncontrollable monster lives inside Mob. If he loses himself, there's a terrifying creature that shouldn't ever be let out. A monster that is capable of destroying absolutely everything. It's my personal theory that Mob unconsciously created a demon by keeping his powers inside.

The thing inside mob has not been explained so my interpretation is basically like avatar. He is a conduit for his world version of the avatar spirit/mob spirit, the one we saw in the beginning of the show wiping out everything lol. But yeah dont dwell on it too much.
