I feel like the reason Aaron isn't enjoying the show as much (apart from the artstyle) is that he's seeing it with the perspective of a battle shonen right now. The formula of "weak MC becomes strong through many trials" is what he expects (MHA is a good example), but when something like Mob Psycho flips that on its head, the only thing he sees is "well MC is already this strong, so what's even the point?" I think it's better to watch this show without the expectation that it's your typical battle shonen, or even a shonen in general. The point isn't how strong Mob is or becomes because he's already the *strongest*. The point is that he's an adolescent going through puberty and the entire show revolves around his character trying to find himself despite his talent, which is his overwhelming psychic powers. It's a really unique and well written character study, the big conflict isn't something grandiose like "saving the world" but rather how Mob views the world in his own eyes, just like how every teenager did. The things that matter are whether his crush likes him back or not, how he can get popular, how he can balance his school, social life, and family, etc. And that's where the true beauty of the show comes from, because it's so well done in that aspect that despite being the problems of a typical teenager, it has legitimate emotional weight to it.

But he enjoyed One Punch Man, where MC is OP from the very beginning, so...Aaron said in episode 3 that he likes the story of MP100, he just doesn't like the art style / animation (I assume he means character designs and comedic moments with crazy motion and kinda careless drawings) but he likes the story. Maybe he just expected something very similar to OPM - only pure comedy and nothing too much serious. I hope this episode and the next ones will change his mind a little and he'll start to look at it like at something much more serious than OPM.

What some anime-watchers also seem to forget about shonen or action anime is that these characters are just *teenagers*. They're just young adolescents struggling to find themselves and all of a sudden they're expected to carry the burden of having to save the world or some shit? A normal teenager wouldn't be able to handle that kind of shit (not to mention having to balance your schoolwork along with it as well) and that's one flaw that shonen animes have.

This is one of my favorite episodes of season 1 to be honest. When Mob weakly punched Teru instead of fighting back with his powers, it made me so sad. Before in his fight with Dimple, he expressed his low view of himself when he said that he is terrible/the worst. This incident must have been another huge blow to his self-esteem, because despite the effort he's been giving out, in the end his power still exploded and caused an accident. The manga scanlation even stated that this sadness is mixed with self-hatred and I just. Want to see Mob grow up healthy and happy. :""""

6:02 In the sub he says it makes him look like an _ochimusha_ (hence the episode's title), a disgraced samurai who fled from battle, traditionally depicted with a shaved head and the rest of the hair long and loose (the traditional samurai topknot, undone)... which quite fits with Teru at this point, and not only because of his appearance (though, to be fair, he _doesn't_ flee).

They have to notice more that Mob doesn't have to make any effort or training with his psychic powers. This is not a case of someone having to grow a fledgling talent. Massive psychic power just comes completely natural to him without any effort whatsoever. Same with Teru though his power isn't as great. Mob could do like Teru and just use his power to get what ever he wants. Even more so. He could fake physical prowess just like Teru and impress Tsubomi. He could overpower anyone and have them submit. He could demand anything he wanted and easily get it. He could live a life of absolute luxury and comfort. Just lay back and bask in luxury and have everything handed to him without having to expend any effort or work hard for anything. Why make an effort in anything at all? He could do that.... But....

Somewhere in the manga there was a little hint (but I don't remember, maybe it was Dimple who said it or the Narrator), that the greatest power is given "by God" to the one, who truly deserves to have it. Imagine Teru with his broken mentality, having such incredible power. Or Suzuki. People like them would just destroy the whole world and maybe even more. But Mob is so different than them, he has this natural kindness and ofc he was very lucky to meet Reigen in his life. He was always searching for any kind of help, when he needed and maybe that's why eventually he would never go fully berserk and destroy everything around him - because he is truly "the special one" who deserves to take care of such huge, God-like power.

I think the "???%" is mob's desire, i mean that thing always take over mob whenever mob is unconscious, and when he's unconscious he always has something that he wanted to do but he can't. At the first appreance of "???%" mob wanted to protect ritsu, but he couldn't do it. Then he gone unconscious and the "???%" full filled mob desire by knocked out (hopefully not killed) the bullies and protected ritsu. And in this episode mob wanted to show teru that psychic power is unnecessary and you shouldn't use it against other people. But well, he couldn't do that and that "???%" take over mob and gets what mob wanted.

The thing was too OP cus it was fueled by every negative emotion Mob had throughout his life, and basically the more in stress/negative you are, the more powerful you become.

manga spoilers Well it's a supressed version of mob. The version that uses his powers (and shows emotions) freely for him and not only for others like Mob does. Mob is scared of that self and even denies it's existence. He just thinks of his powers instead of his supressed personality. He don't want to go on a rampage and hurt others, that's why he supresses his power (to achieve that he supresses his emotions). He don't even want his powers (he actually don't want his supressed self, but for him it's the same).

Yes, Mob can be seen as the Hulk and also The Sentry in the core of the characters. But complete different at the same time, since Mob need to stay in check with all his emotions and not only rage. He cannot even laugh, remember? And I also though it was another stuff, but it's his inner-self.

The animation and directing between Mob and OPM S2 is night and day. The few seconds of sakuga we got in the Garou vs. TTM fight came very close, though.

Yeah Im 4 years late. 100% is when he lets his emotions get the best of him. It's explained later on that Psychic powers are strengthened by Emotions. His emotional distress is Mob using his full extent of his powers. ???% is the manifestation of all of Mobs emotions that he locks up. ??? appears under extreme emotional stress. Specifically when Mob is unconscious. It's the full, unrestrained power he has stored in his body. Only three other characters in the series have posed a threat to Mob when he goes 100%. Only two have matched ???. One has a Berserk power, that Reigan actually mentioned before. The other has an Energy Output. 1% is around equal to Mob at 100%. The guy who goes Berserk, is the strongest.
