Amazing scene regarding mobike fist look. Awesome job.

It's a metal bar that spins with cogs to turn the wheel, and a dynamo in the back wheel that charges a battery that powers the GPS and lights. I think people were going to Gregg's and buying a pie and putting the metal tray over the GPS to ride around all day.

You can pick used ones up now for around £80-90 that have been discontinued. I thought about buying one to see If I could do an ebike conversion somehow to make it more of a commuter with it only being single gear. Not sure how I'd do it yet but I'd find a way! Plenty of space to mount a battery & controller be an interesting project, can't seem to find any that have been ebiked yet
@TheAverageCyclist4 жыл бұрын
That would definitely be a good little project. I think I’m going to keep an eye out!

I am glad Manchester have this most advanced Mobike among all shared bikes. The biggest advantage is its rubusty - it will not easily break due to usage or crime. Other bikes in China could have some 30% to 50% fallacy rate - the chain is broken, the pedal is broken, the seat cannot lift up, etc... It is frustrating to find a bad bike and walk again to find another one, and Mobike rarely has a bad one. Mobike is the real innovation - it takes into account the maintenance issue and therefore remains the most popular in China despite tens of cheap competitors. So congratulations people in Manchester! You enjoy the technology much more advanced than that in London :P

What a shame sharing bikes are damaged and missing very badly in manchester and even GObee bike is retreating from paris bcz 60% of bikes are brokendown or missing, what happened to europe?

I tried it today, is too hard to pedal very heavy it is not easy and smooth any idea how to change that??? there is no gear to change the speed or anything
@TheAverageCyclist7 жыл бұрын
+Meys Wasan it should be pretty smooth to ride - maybe you got a damaged one? The gear is a little high as you start, but it doesn’t take long to exhaust it, on flat roads it should be fine.
@夏虎-c5y7 жыл бұрын
is it really fast? I doubt it. because part of your work is designed to recharge the battery. Actually this version of Mobike in China is tiring to ride, so Mobike has launched Mobike Lite, which is lighter and faster and has solar battery, and normal chains. Mobike Lite is more comfortable.
@TheAverageCyclist7 жыл бұрын
+夏虎 it's not really fast, but it's better than the Boris bikes in London. All round better than I thought.

it can not deal with long distance ride. but Mobike's another version, Mobike Lite, can.
@TheAverageCyclist7 жыл бұрын
+Hailun Yang Yeah, I think they're probably playing to the fact that most non-cyclist people have their seat too low anyway.
@夏虎-c5y7 жыл бұрын
that is the limitation of this version. the saddle of another version, Mobike Lite, can be adjusted to a very high position

What if you buy your own mobike ?? How does it work it out??
@ThatGoth3 жыл бұрын
If you are going to use them you really need to carry a cushion around with you as a cyclist I once rented one and there is no suspension, the seat is just painful after more than 5 min.

fast forward 3 years and you can buy decommissioned mobikes in Kyiv, Ukraine for 114 quid. They have hundreds of them for sale...probably collected from that famous dumpster with thousands of them in Beijing for free and smuggled into here

These bikes are a bloody nuisance. People use them and then abandon them anywhere. I live near a train station and people feel it's ok to leave these against my home and in my garden and get on the trains. I am forever taking them to the town centre. If you use these then please do not leave them just anywhere when you are finished with them
