I think most governments just don't care enough to go after these games, lots of which are in foreign countries that won't respond anyways. Although it was interesting to see that Homescapes actually got in legal trouble for their ads in the UK.

Ah well, not much but I guess it's the first step. I think eventually people will catch on and start doing something about it. That or this business model will die out - either way it all feels like it's just flying under the radar for now.

i actualy had conversation about it with people who work in that industry when i studied software testing. Reason it works is even if game will be slapped with some kind of fine , most of these games make so much money from these false adds that if they will be sued by anyone it wont matter , if you can even sue them in the first place(lots of time they will hide their company in some tax haven)

What really gets me is that despite all these monster-evolving ads there isn't even a game for it. Like the advertising company had one dumb idea and made a bunch of ads they sold off to unrelated game studios.

@@EphiTV That may be the point, sometimes people use these areas (like silly game ads) as a portfolio. There are fake magic trick videos that did the same in the past, captain disillusion did a good video about it.

I know it’s probably obvious be the voiceover in the beginning said 2021 in chinese, english letter approximate pronunciation “er ling er yi” for that first clip. 7 years of chinese classes finall being used 🥺

Thought so. Even still it's so strange that they translated everything else. Maybe the voice actor didn't know English and he was just reading the script phonetically except for the numbers. Who knows.

I don't know if you've ever seen them, but lately I've been fucking plagued by ads for a game that I THINK is called "Save The Doge." They're especially bad because they just make the game seem like, poorly programmed?? As always, I enjoy these dives into the absolute insanity that is mobile game ads.

The Play Store reviews make it seem like there's more ad-time than gameplay in the actual game. Getting in to some sort weird feedback loop where these games are just vehicles to advertise other games.

There was this ad I saw for a multiplayer game which looks like it's cut out of a top 10 video about mobile games where the "Reviewer" praises the game alot. The ad Is probably aimed at kids who are a bit harder to trick but still gullible.

Yooo I'll never forget the ad I got on my phone. It was an ad for a mobile game, and it was homescapes I think?? The match 3 and then use the points to "fix up a home or area". Well, the ad...my gosh...shocked me. A woman was pregnant and her man she was with, kicked her in the stomach and threw her out of the house!(obviously graphically and not a live action ad) I was so shocked I actually chuckled with my motuh agape. Like wtf??! The mobile ads are wild man.

Speaking of mobile game ads I've started seeing games that actually have a marketing budget start using the youtubers that they sponsor in there ads. I've decided to call this phenomenon: when there's a budget cut.

@EphiTv The "when there's a budget cut" thing was a meme. The reason I think there doing that is that the people that have at marketing ran out of ideas and started using the youtubes they sponsor to TRY to gain clicks hoping that the viewer has seen them before and will download the game because there Favorite youtuber was in the ad. I don't know why they think it's effective. BTW the companies that do this are big ones. you know the ones that actually try to sponsor people for example: RAID shadow legends.
