8:31 the one you're talking about is Victory Gundam and is set somewhere around U.C 150. while F1 is set in U.C 123

This film was originally planned to be a series. The first half hour of the film has a slower pace, precisely because it is a reuse of the first episodes. The rest of the film follows at a faster pace.

@@WadeWadeReacts Yes. At the time, Bandai bought the studio that makes the Gundam series, Sunrise, and changed the entire planning. Up until that point, only stories were made within the original universe, but Bandai wanted to diversify the productions, in order to launch toys with different concepts. F91, so as not to be wasted, had the content that had already been made adapted as a film.

This is a theatrical version released in 1991 by Director Tomino, who also created First Gundam, Z, ZZ, and Char's Counterattack. It is a work that brings together the golden team of First Gundam, so it is of very high quality. The world is about 40 years after the time of First Gundam.（from JAPAN）

Yeah the Jegans by this time period are like 30 years outdated, basically like the T-72 of our timeline. Reliable enough to be updated over and over to maintain relevance but at its core just not comparable to modern weapons.

Hiroko Moriguchi's OP for this film is absurdly good, and made me a fan when I saw this way back in the mid-90's. To this day, she is one of very, very few celebrity crushes I've ever had.

My eyes got a lil watery when that kid hit his head and died. This Gundam movie is pretty brutal but it deserves a full watch.

it;s still in our solar system. It's rare to go outside of our solar system. battle takes place in a colony. yea the jegans are outdated. there wasn't really a need to upgrade during the time periods. but then ofc the enemy has to the miniaturized and more advacned next gen suits. (i think it was crossbone vanguard suits, I think it was called the den'an.....or a variant of one) Well, ur not exactly suppose to fight in a populated area, but you know, geneva suggestions during war times. Uh colonies are mostly just O'niell cylinderss. with air in it. Gravity well "gravity" is just simulated cylindrical movement uhhh centrifugal force. Basically it's wierd gravity on the grounn where the human gets used to standing up straight....by leaning in a certain direction. The more off the ground you are, the less "gravity" effects you. Yea those are basically museum pieces at that point. the zaku and gelgoog.

Gundam F91 movie is a new generation Gundam story in Universal Century, set decades after previous U.C. Gundam shows, specifically in U.C. 0123. By this era, Zeon movement is pretty much gone, and Earth Federation is still around but has become much weaker. The new antagonist army is Crossbone Vanguard which aims to establish the aristocratic nation of Cosmo Babylonia. The movie is somewhat similar to the beginning of the first Gundam show where the main characters witness Zeon committing atrocity before leaving their space colony, but F91 movie keeps the major characters in the colony for most of the story.

In this new age, cost-effective miniaturized mobile suit development was the trend, so Crossbone Vanguard mobile suits took full advantage of their smaller sizes, while Federation was still using many older bigger models like Jegan that wasn't as agile as the newer models were. Even new smaller Federation mobile suits like Heavygun weren't very efficient. Which might explain why Federation suits kept getting destroyed during the invasion. The MC's prototype mobile suit Gundam F91 was one of the first smaller sized Federation mobile suits that was actually very effective. F91 film ends with the MC killing the main antagonist, but the war hadn't ended, meaning the story was unfinished. There were supposed to be at least a sequel, but the film was not successful enough to result in more movies. So the director/wrtier & Gundam creator, Yoshiyuki Tomino, gave out ideas for a popular manga follow-up titled Crossbone Gundam set 10 years later, in U.C. 0133, which many fans are still hoping that it gets produced as animated series.

@@WadeWadeReacts In terms of animated shows/movies set in Universal Century, nope. Other than Gundam F91(U.C. 0123) and Victory Gundam(U.C. 0153), pretty much all other animated U.C. Gundam shows/movies are set in the same generation, mostly between U.C. 0079 and U.C. 0105. You get to see several characters grow up and become more mature in sequel series. This generation had several Zeon-related or Zeon-influenced conflicts. But F91 and Victory are each the only animated contents of their respective generations, each of them introducing new non-Zeon antagonists.

The RGM-109 HeavyGun a mass production mobile suit equally considered as one of the earliest miniaturize MS BTW by miniaturize that means that the mobile suit gets smaller why well I can real life things get better overtime like a super computer it can get smaller than advance of humanity get back to what we’re talking about The Heavygun is a very good, but sadly enough outdated MS at this time MS had Beam Shields which were extremely powerful, which could deflect almost anything at this time compared to the standard shield of the HeavyGun and other MS at that time and more overall this MS is very good wasn’t very much popular with some commander units But it became outdated very quickly as it was shown here The F71 G-Cannon is a far range support type MS It depends on the back to give support pretty much to its allies in battle with its huge machine guns on its back and arm it was very good for time equally was a miniaturize MS but again disappointed in this battle became outdated very quickly to the eyes of many in combat and more thanks to thrusters though it was very much quick but again all those weapons did slow it down And the F-50D Guntank R-44 a experimental transformable far range MS It is able to transform into a tank or a humanoid type MS and return very much useful for combat for support again equally a miniaturize MS But with this variation, it was mostly put into a museum the only thing that we know only probably 2 or 1 unit was developed. We’re still pretty much not sure when we were another that’s why this MS was not fighting that much many of its weapons were replaced with non-lethal type For example, like you owning a tank in real life, many of his weapons are destroyed in return not being able to fire or more it is like that with the R-44

The XM-04 Berga Dalas a mass production MS made by the crossbones Vanguard a variance MS for its time as well Pretty much think it’s Beam Shield it was able to slaughter many MS of its time until the EFSF also gathered information about Beam Shield technology in return they were kicked in the butt and the Berga Became a little little bit outdated, but it was still considered a very good MS for its time equally it had six missiles on its back that could count as thrusters if need be equally it’s double eye camera just like the mono eye of the Zaku allow it for very good targeting systems and more for good accuracy and the lance allow it for brutal penetration against shield and more
