I think Orga's death hurt the most for me, it felt soo low. Orga died protecting his own to his final breath, it was a tragedy but still an honorable death, and thankfully Orga was justified in the end.

Gundam is all about these shades of grey. Tekkadan wasn’t objectively in the right anymore by season 2. Whether or not Tekkadan is the good guy is really up to the individual. Just like how you’ll find plenty of Zeon sympathizers in the fandom.

The scenes after episode 13 are really heartbreaking. I felt physical pain for Mika because he was being broken down, and he didn't even care. One thing I found interesting was back in episode 2 when the Old Man is explains the AV system he said that it could damage his cerebral nerves. Looking over the series, it also seemed that Mika was losing cognitive function and not just the function of his right side. He spoke less and was more willing to follow Orga than ever. I think him being carried like this in the OP is especially powerful and shows how broken he's become

This ending hits rly hard especially right after Mikazuki gets paralyzed from the mobile armor. It gives off this vibe of “these kids are really doomed into war and all they know and live by is fighting”. The way Mika is shown at 0:20 emphasizes his demeanor: that he is a soulless war machine who enjoys killing so much that he doesn’t even care that his body can’t move on its own anymore. When this song plays in the last episode, it rly hits you that these people won’t allow these poor children to reach their goal, and all they can do is fight back to reduce casualties. The fact that this war has killed so many of them. The war itself was madness and these kids were caught right in the middle of it. Not my favorite opening but it definitely cuts deep and was introduced at a perfect time in the story

Just finished it. I was never a fan of Gundam, but this one was superbly done. SPOILER: Orga was one of my favs. Without Biscuit, his chief advisor and voice of reason, Orga and the gang made bad decision after bad decision. They sealed their fate when they made a deal with McGillis to become the "Kings of Mars". That was the beginning of the end for Tekkaden. He wanted so much for them to be respected and established that he developed tunnel vision and did not consider the consequences of those choices, much in the same vein as McGillis. McGillis and Orga were quite similar in S2, becoming almost blinded by their goal and walking in the dark, and then it was far too late to come up with a contingency plan or turn around. It was a bittersweet end, but at least all was not lost and some made it. More than I expected in any case.

they knew the barbatos pilot was invincible from the mobile armour fight so they could only do this. specially since gaelio, their strongest pilot, was hurt from fighting sasuke. not even the girl could beat barbatos so it was impossible. this is the only thing they could do, aside from like nukes.

Naw they would've wiped them out but it would've been a lot slower with way more casualties. Gjallahorn with their massive fleets by numbers alone would've eventually wiped them out. Even if Mikazuki was practically invincible with Barbatos, there's only so much you can do before you have to stop, refuel, repair, etc. and knowing the strategist Rustal was, he would've overwhelmed them. But the Dainsleifs brought the struggle to an end fairly quickly. Alternatively if McGillis' plan succeeded in overturning Gjallahorn with Bael, perhaps it would've evened the playing field.

So along with all the points made here... the show wanted to make it clear: no matter how much you might have everything going for you... this twisted world and the ppl in it, can still win and try to take everything you have as “the spoils of war”... so fight for a future, and safe guard it, even if you have to from yourself-- and you may have a shot at winning in the long run, even if you don’t live to see it... but with that, always remember the bittersweet truth... that even the plan for the future can be unjustly taken away by the powerful corrupt of this world, so live and love the best you can- when you can; take every single win you can get, and savor it, cuz you never know-- and without an guarantees- when your time is up, no matter how strong, good or justified you actually are.

Tekkadan wouldn't have won because Mcgillis did not have a good grasp of his tactical and strategic situation after he started his rebellion. They lost the moment they decided to fight a defensive battle in earth's orbit. What they should have done was gone on the offensive right after Gaelio revealed himself and fled to the arienrod which was still in the process of gathering its strength. If they attacked both before the arienrod had assembled and before the refit of kimaris vidar was completed they would have won because the reginlaze julia was no threat to the barbatos lupus rex at the time and it would prevent the arienrod from being able to deploy their dainsleif equipped grazes. The casualties would be astronomical but it would be a better chance of victory then fighting defensively.

No one killed him. He wanted to die. That's why he stayed behind as a decoy so everyone else could escape. He said it himself in an earlier episode "I'll make it for sure... to the place Orga was headed for!" He wasn't gonna go out without a fight though. Similar to King Bradley from FMA, surrounded by enemies, he stands his ground and basically says, "Which one of you will finally take down the Devil of Tekkadan? Let's find out!"

I guess every Gundam series puts its own spin on things and pushes its own boundaries on the franchise, but IBO stands out to me because they opted to have a protagonist with physical disabilities, and the series had a near complete absence of beam weapons, among other things.

Been a fan of gundam wings and gundam seed and watching ibo made me initially refuse to watch this series.. but man as you watch continously this series grows on you and the ending has the most heartbreaking ending for any gundam AU in my opinion.

This show hurt me so bad because-- I have honestly never seen an anime like this where most of the characters are relatable and most of the protagonist are pretty awesome and yet, so many of them die so terribly, tragically and needlessly-- which is all part of the many points the show makes-- concerning the the human condition. It’s legit a happier ending than Space Runaway IDEON-- almost all anime is happier than that--and DevilMan Crybaby--oh yeah Graveyard of the fireflies… man my anime watching years was rough 😂
