I worked as a scenic artist on this movie, the locations were beautiful, it was a magical experience.
@Sodiumreactor6 жыл бұрын
What are you working on nowadays?
@tiasara96436 жыл бұрын
I followed the crew to LA and worked on lots of things, a Wes Craven film (for the life of me l can’t recall which one but l painted a sign on a ratty dark blue ‘tv repair ‘ van some psycho drove in it if that’s any help), Men At Work and a bunch of other stuff, commercials, private stuff etc. Now l’m a regular artist back on the east coast and it’s sorta funny that out west no one bats an eye but here if l tell people l worked on Pet Semetary a trillion years ago they flip out so when parties get dull l can still revive a pulse if l happen to mention it. One job on PS was cutting tire tread marks into an industrial-size paint roller, black paint and a long running start to paint the skidmark on the pavement after Gage gets hit, rubber cement through a fan for endless cobwebs (mostly the cemetery woods), 6 cats acting and one died from unknown reason- (a real bummer, not to mention the loss of a talented cat worth $30k to the wranglers from what l recall) the small cape under the house facade actually caught fire for real when they burned it (NEVER agree to have property in a movie that place was MANGLED when it was over) so many cool secrets and tricks in that movie, NOTHING left to chance, we even had to paint some entire tree leaves back to green when the season started to change. For me, the guy who played mom’s sick sister (a flashback she had) was the creepiest, he freaked everyone out. That bay behind the farmhouse is still the most beautiful place on earth l have seen before or since.

I used to live a couple streets over from Stephen Kings house. I read Pet Semetary back when I lived in Bangor (it was probably 20 years ago) I used to cut through his street to go to work in the wee hours of the morning and would wonder if he was in there writing something. I saw him a few times pulling out at the end of the street. There was an old movie rental place/store I believe on the corner of Broadway and Hammond. He had a tiny little red sports car back then if my memory serves correctly.

You really get a good sense and feel for the camera and blocking of the entire setpiece with this. Really fascinating how the whole Creed residence was for the most part was as it was scene on film, not much cheating or anything like that, especially the way you covered the camera shots and locations. Really cool because you construct and hold this world in a movie in your head, so it kind of solely exists in that capacity for the majority of the audience. But when you do this it really gets to let us open a new door mentally in our head and explore this place further.

I lived in the Sedgewick area when the movie was filmed (the weird area with the rocks: Mic Mac burial ground). You have made me terribly homesick. How sad that it sits abandoned to the elements; maybe no one wants to deal with the bad juju, even if it is only of the cinematic variety.
