The reason Jud took him out to the cemetery to bury Church even though he knew the consequences was because of the Wendigo's power over him. I don't know if the Wendigo was mentioned in this movie very much but in the book, Jud said that he knew he was doing the wrong thing, but the Wendigo made him unable to resist the urge to take him there. Once you know about the Micmac burial grounds, you're almost compelled to show it to someone else. The Wendigo also made anyone driving a truck within a certain radius of its territory have the uncontrollable urge to drive dangerously fast, probably to cause more accidents.

I think a lot of things that would confuse you if you watched the movie and hadn’t read the book are the way the characters are drawn towards the force of the pet Sematary and the Mic-Mac burial grounds. In the book King explains how the place sucks you in and makes you believe what you are doing is right, like when Louis followed Jud to the burial grounds to bury Church without question. It also explains how Rachel just knew she had to go back to Louis when she was in Chicago with her parents and Louis was going to the grave to dig up Gage.
@BulletTooth5045 жыл бұрын
Let's see -- Louis is called Doc by his wife, Danny Torrance is also called Doc by his parents, and Stephen King has massive buck teeth. Doc was definitely Stephen King's nickname as a kid, whether he liked it or not.

Much as I understand people not getting the Zelda segments of the movie and why they were there, they're kinda necessary considering the spirit that returned to Gage's body wasn't Gage... it was *Zelda.* Rachael's whole fear of her sister and the sequence where Zelda is saying "I'm coming for you and this time I'll get you" is directly hinting that Zelda's the one who's returning from the dead. Not Gage. There's even a scene where Rachael's father is standing in front of a painting of Zelda as a child, and when Rachael finds the resurrected Gage he's actually wearing the same outfit (the blue clothes and top hat). It's also why she hallucinates Zelda in Jud's room, because Zelda was in Gage's body. Far as I know it's not an element in the book itself, but this was a very specific thing implied for the movie.

There’s so much in the book that is left out in the movie. Jud explains in the book that once you visit the grounds, you are then controlled by its power, and have the urge to introduce others to its power. He also thinks the Wendigo made the truck driver speed up when he got close to the Creeds house, leading to Gage”s death. This was the Wendigio”s way of getting revenge on Louis for using the Micmac grounds to bury Church the cat.
