Elisha, Your work is such a gift to many of us that knew we needed to do major work with our facia as our next step in healing, but didn't know where to find a knowledgable practitioner, or even how to start the "facia journey'. Thank you.

This reminds me of what I do with my 3 year old haha. When she feels mad, sad, or scared, I name the emotion she's feeling and let her know it's okay to be feeling that emotion. It makes sense that we should be doing this for ourselves as well. Thank you!

I encourage all to feel safe questioning your narrative on anything. For example, I used to feel shame and would run away. Why? What's objectively bad/harmful/negative about the energy of shame? At some point, I learned to run from it. Shame, Shame, go away! No one likes you anyway! Hey, hey! What a mean thing to say. Shame is merely a young boy, and like the others, just wants to play. Shame lifts his head and looks me in the eyes. Like many times before, but this time, I smile back and I cry when I see his surprise. His pain is gone and despite my neglect for so long, it's acceptance he projects. I put my arm around my brother. With the energy of our mother we breathe again together. I chuckle, he smiles, we laugh. I ask, why've I been so serious? And I thank him for building my house of humor-- one of my favorite places to be. He says, I love you brother, I'll always wait for you and thank you for spending time with me. I did the same exercise with fear and it was awesome!

Accepting what is has been the only effective way to go thru some of the toughest moments in my life. Naming what is without labelling it is an ultimate act of self compassion. It is judging and resisting it i.e. fearing it what blocks the energy flow and creates pain. Thank you for sharing your hard won knowledge. Love.

I have learned so much about this amazing "machine" I live in, from your videos. I am just getting started and am looking forward to a pain free life. But the dots are connecting, why abs won't engage, and low back spasms, now affecting digestion. I hope I can keep up with all that I have to do. Thanks again for your incredible wisdom and teaching gift.

It was news to me that the nervous system houses the subconscious knowing. I really appreciate that information as it has just come to my attention that my sleep disorder is being driven by subconscious childhood trauma. When I lie awake at night I have been doing exactly what you demonstrate in your example....saying positive statements, like, I am safe. So I will experiment naming what is! Nervous system alignment sounds right to me. Thanks

Thank you so much for this work and valuable content, Elisha. I m going thru that throat grip feeling, and it creates so much anxiety down to the gut and diafragm . I was also diagnosed with VCD . I have been working on self development for some time . However, i noticed that these positive reinforcement do not work . What you are saying is basically we have to come to an agreement with our feelings and accept it . Talk to it and face it by acknowledging that this emotion was trapped in lack of love .

Thanks for this Elisha. What you are saying really resonates. This idea of practising in a non-triggered situation is great, and I am going to try it. All of what you say links to many of the 'wisdom masters' out there eg "allow everything to be exactly as it is", "Love what is", - being able to name what we are feeling, dropping our resistance to that, allowing it to flow through us, somehow that helps us to move through our stuff . And for those of us who struggle to communicate what we are thinking/feeling, this type of practice is so useful. When we start to name it, then we can start to move towards healing.

Yes, wonderful! Those may seem like small moments, but it activates something inside of us that we can carry over into other experiences. I'm teaching a workshop next week called Unlocking the Trauma Body, which is all about using fascia release or contacting our fascia/nervous systems to identify our patterns, name what is, be with it and integrate it into our body|mind space so we can be more present instead of living out the past through our bodies. If you're part of my email community, you'll get all the links. Otherwise, you can sign up here: bit.ly/3n1Exad

I love this practice idea! My approach has been to accept or soften into the difficulty/pain I’m facing, and it has helped tremendously. But you’ve added two very important elements. Naming, using descriptive and expressive words to, as you explain, align the conscious and unconscious nervous system is new to me. With your cold plunge imagination, expressive naming definitely created in me a deeper positive shift than feeling/sensing with acceptance on its own. Your idea to train ourselves by practicing with easy situations, is also totally new to me...and I love it! I’ll be doing this. Thank you! I often get stuck at the transition between coming into peaceful strength in facing what is....and then moving on, into “now how do I change this, without going into oppositional resistance”. I’m going to try your idea of “naming” during that transition also.

Hi Elisha. I’m new to your channel. I’m currently working somatically to help release some childhood trauma (and probably adult as well!). I was cold dipping but was advised by another somatic practitioner that cold dips are not good when healing from complex trauma as puts the body into fight/flight response when you’re trying to teach the opposite. What’s your thoughts on this please? Thank you! 🙏🏼 looking forward to diving deeper into your teachings 🥰

To those who are having trouble naming their feelings or emotions, a helpful way would be to check and print from the internet a list of emotions, or the emotions wheel..found about it from Richard Grannon who teaches how to help yourself when you have CPTSD.

Would I be able to try this in a cold shower? I’ve been having horrible digestive anxiety. I can feel tension in my stomach and esophagus. I would love some advice with releasing digestive issue. The minute I am anxious I attack my digestive system. Thanks in advance.
@ElishaCeleste3 жыл бұрын
Hi Vincenza - what I'm talking about in this video is more about establishing a practice (for life), so that in any moment you can bring your mind and body into alignment. So on the one hand YES, you could use this practice in a cold shower, in a sauna, while talking barefoot on gravel AND nice things, like eating your favorite food or walking on the beach. Often, when we have trauma that distances us from our nervous system truth, we avoid naming the pains AND pleasures of life (at least, that's been my experience). I have a video on this channel showing fascia release for the gut (it's a more recent video using a softball, not my older video using your hands). I often use that to put my conscious mind in connection with the sensations I've been either neglecting in my gut, or using my gut to process from other life experiences. Emotions might arise while doing it (or not). Whatever you feel, name it. I definitely believe that using fascia release is the straightest path between our conscious minds and our subconscious, so it can be a lot faster than other things we try.

Thanks so much for this. I have resisting kognitive therapy (ACT) that my company health care doctor wanted me to try, just for this reason. When I now finally understan what my little me is saying, I don’t want to go right ahead an supress her. However, for me it also feel odd to be the adult/parent speaking to and soothing my inner child. Like, how can I do that job when I know what a mess I am. To resolve this, I turn to God and pray ”be with me and fill out my holes and weaknesses so that I can parent myself in a good way”. I have not been Christian before but have found healing easier when God and the church can step in and be a part of my safety. ”I love myself” or ” I am loved” doesn’t feel as powerul as ” the Creator of the universe loves me”.😊
@ElishaCeleste Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for sharing this. I think it's really wise to resist the affirmation of "I love myself" if it doesn't feel true, and if you can say "the Creator of the universe loves me" and FEEL the truth of that, it is incredibly healing and powerful. I believe in a Creator/god myself (though I am not religious) and it has sustained me through really dark times. Sending love your way 💛

Thank-you, Elisha. This is a great video and practice, and I'm loving your new direction and videos. 🙏🏽 🙏🏽 I really like your example of naming while plunging in cold water, and your observation of how it changes your perception of your heart rhythm. I think you're referring to what sounds like heart rate variability (HRV), and it seems the ability for the heart rhythm to adapt to stressors (physical, mental, emotional) is a physiological measure of resilience, and something we can cultivate. Way to go! Here's just one reference of many on HRV if interested. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31642481/
@ElishaCeleste4 жыл бұрын
YES, heart rate variability is part of what I notice when I do this practice in the cold (whereas, when I summon my ability to "endure" - my heart rate just beats rapidly while I resist panicking). Great to hear from you! 💛
