◎Mochitsuki(Pounding Mochi) : How to Make Mochi the Traditional Way
This time, I will introduce "Mochitsuki(Pounding Mochi)" for preparing for New Year.
Of course, mochi is delicious as it is, and there are various arrangements such as kinako, anko, sugar, sugar soy sauce, and nori.
1. Preparation for the day before Mochitsuki(Pounding Mochi).
Rinse Sticky rice(Glutinous rice) and Soak rice the day before Mochitsuki(Pounding Mochi).
2. Steam sticky rice.
3. In order to get hot glutinous rice while it is hot, heat ’Kine’ and ’Usu' with boiling water.
4.Glue the glutinous rice with a pestle.
Once the sticky rice is crushed and put together, stick it with a pestle.
The trick is to use the weight of the punch and swing it down instead of letting the punch move.
The sticks will stick to the pestle and the mortar halfway, so the tip of the pestle should be moistened with hot water.
It is finished when the graininess of the glutinous rice disappears and becomes smooth.
