This is a mock-up of a roof that made with rafter that is styrofoam. This roof has a base that has the main rafters marked out on it to give clarity and are for instructional purposes especially. I will be uploading all of the videos and pics in the near future.

Can you explain the 5 inch rise please ,we do roofs like that mostly 6/12 and 9/12 I want to learn

Do these calculations still work if your not cutting a bird mouth , but just laying the full rafter on the top plate.

Thanks for the video! I am making a 1st floor addition on my house that’s a rectangular space. The hip roof will not be at a 45 degree angle because it’s rectangular; are there any considerations that need to be made when doing it that way? I cannot find anything on a rectangular hip

Your hips should always be at a 45 degree, on a plan view. When framing a hip on a rectangle, you should have some ridge.

Are you available for consulting. I have a tricky shed roof 2.5:12 attaching to a gable 6:12 end at different pitches and at different elevations. I'm looking for some knowledgeable 'master' carpenter that can help me. .
