personally, I dont like acronation that much. obviously they are incredibly talented, especially with acro of course, but I feel like their routines always lacked the dance/choreography element. like it was just trick after trick after trick without anything really binding them together or some sections of uninterrupted dancing. I just feel like they could have shown their acro moves in a more fluid and incorporated way without forgetting the dance part.

Acro nation's dancing sort of summed up Thalia for me ~ fantastic at first sight, a few grand moves of interest but once past the door, little to get excited about. They were kind of like those songs that grab you in the first 20 seconds but are no longer holding you by the 3rd minute and by the end you're positively thinking of the next song rather than a rewind. In terms of dramatic input, they showed their value and improved former character ideas ~ Simone was Shantel with depth, Adrian was Max with grace, Ty was Hunter writ large with added pony tail. As an aside, I think the way Emily, Kate and Michelle treated them over the space rented was low, cheap and, I suspect, illegal ! If I rent a house, I don't expect the landlord/lady to give their daughter or nephew the keys to come in and use the toilet at their whim when I'm in the bath ! The English team that had Ella and pre~Lola Lola {woah ! That sounds like a dance ~ the PreLolaLola !!} in it weren't all that {cue s1 Emily hand movement}. Their 5 point advantage was really more of a threat. I wasn't particularly impressed with their dance or even Ella's stolen movements and I was even less so with Ella's autotuned singing. I'm not easily impressed. And the pre~Lola Lola wasn't well used because as we saw for ourselves in s5, she could really dance. I fully concur with you when it came to Elite. As the original pantomime villains, they really knew how to {groan......} 'bring it' and bring it with style, panache, aplomb, trickery and a mild hint of the dark side. Putting myself in competitive mode as someone that played competitive sport for many years, it's easy to see how Elite on the dance floor would be intimidating. They didn't even need to be so off the stage. They were only that way to TNS {for the classic "reasons never explained !"}. Now, I'm not a great dance fan per se, but I've been around dance since I was about 6 and although I'm hard to please, I can be pleased and I actually found Elite's routines to be watchable and entertaining. I think their regionals final routine was actually better than TNS although TNS' one was pretty spectacular and as a winning routine was worthy. But really, Elite weren't exactly about dance only. They were nasty dudes off stage for spice and watchability. The Amanda of s1 was never equalled in nastiness, not by Daniel, not by Angela, not by Gemini, not even by Elliot; in s2 she played the role of the double agent really well and as lame as Tess could be at times, she carried on the role of nasty gal under orders pretty well. I must admit, I always thought Lucien was a three legged table as a bad guy although he has some priceless moments in s1. Elite's most lasting legacy has been that not one troupe since has managed to come close to their balance/fusion of threat, meanness and sheer dance prowess. Without a doubt thus far, the most worthy of adversaries and the greatest 'champions that never were' that TNS have yet to encounter in the 7 years of the show. That no one has managed to match them for sheer all round value and entertainment and the ticking of multiple boxes tells its own story.

Would probably put Acronation much lower because they aren't good at the other styles and are not as versatile as many of the other studios

I agree with this all except I think Summerford school of dance did a better semi-finals routine than The Next Step the next step had so many amazing dancers with so many individual styles and did Swing and Hip Hop not to mention the Hip Hop wasn’t anything we hadn’t seen in the earlier seasons. On the other hand Summerford had a great story (like the next step) and just was more impressive. But there finals routine deserved to win. Also CONGRATS ON 15K you deserve it 🥳

This is a really good analysis of their rivals. I completely agree with your TOP 3, and I definitely see them as fierce rivals of TNS. In fact, I personally thought that Elite's finals routine in regionals, and England's semi-finals routine in internationals were better than TNS' routine.

I agree with you saying that the Geminis are last because I also feel like the writers wrote the dances to be similar to dances which were already on the next step already. Such as their basketball routine and the hip hop and ballet mashup because in season 3 West did a basketball solo for his audition for the internationals team and James and Riley did a ballet and hip hop duet at nationals

I am British and watched both shows on iplayer before Netflix. 🇬🇧 ☕️ My point was that at the end of his episode Oliver (and a few others who were only ONE episode cameos) said that they hoped to be back and dance on A-troupe one day. I think if the writers were only planning to have them in for one episode they shouldn’t have given them the cliffhanger y’know? Sorry if my point wasn’t clear before. 😂 😂 Xx

LOD was overrated in my opinion and shouldn't of beat CDC in the semifinals because LOD's jumps were usually out of time and in the tumbling section one girl missed her aerial and had to put her hand down and the difficulty wasn't very hard but with CDC they had a great story and were always in unison.

My back story for Lola on how she was on Ella's team is quite possible. When Lola joined the next the step she told Richelle that she was dance captain at her old studio but wasn't excepted. When we saw Gisele at the dance captain meetings at internationals (the season Lola was in) we also saw Lola as England's dance captain. This completely backs up what she told Richelle and now we have an idea what her old studio quite possibly was. Hope you see this xx

Thing is though, in Season 3 Lola sounds English when she's talking to Ella. By season 5 she sounds like a different person. Also, if you think about it, if she was meant to be the same person, it's quite a thing to leave out that she's come from living in England ! Lola never even mentions England throughout the season !
