I did not like this book as much as the first two books during my first read through back in 2010 or so, but read it again earlier this year, and it was that much better. Probably the best all around book of the series imo. This or The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. I wish some things could have been expanded upon, but then we would end up in a Harry Potter situation. Catching Fire is still my most favorite book of the series.

I agree with you on the action sequences- a lot happened in such a short amount of time. I will say that having read it when it first came out before the movies were made, the Coin plot twist completely shocked me. It was obvious to me that Coin was just using Katniss from the start, but I was so focused on Katniss needing to defeat Snow that I didn’t consider Coin to be just as big a threat until around the time Katniss realized it. Her death was a complete shock to me. Needless to say the slight of hand totally worked on me 😂.

Just came across your channel, and can I say that is a very impressive collection of Star Wars and Star Trek books! Also really enjoyed ur thoughts on Mockingjay. I was hooked on the first two books and then reading the final one I felt a bit let down. But still liked it enough. Just subscribed and cant wait to see more of your thoughts on other books.

My favourite of the 3, i really enjoyed it. The dystopian books are so good. I read the books first. Nice review. I'm just a fan of all three, but it was limited by page count.

It’s been interesting to hear your thoughts on the trilogy over the last few months. I’ll probably try to read it sometime next year

One of the few instances where the movie was actually better than the book.
