The MOD MANAGER for Shogun 2 IS BACK! Creative Assembly has released their updated mod manager as promised. Currently, it is much more optimized and accessible to the previous version but there are still some issues that linger. Another fix for issues with mods: If you load the game and it says “modded” not only do you need to delete all pack files like I suggested you also can fully delete the roaming folder of Shogun 2 to solve any further issues.

I have a issue with the mod manager. When I try to get new mods from the steam workshop, they appear in the new mod manager, but when I click on the option to launch the game, the old mod manager appears and it only shows the mods I got before the mod manager "update" was done.

Yeah they definitely didn’t need to update the game after all these years by removing it to begin with; however, this mod manager is actually easier to set up games with friends since the load order is streamlined. For sure the devs, if they are willing to change shogun 2, should listen to the community and fix other aspects of the game

Very helpful video. One minor point of contention, regarding the kisho ninja ammunition. The Hattori / Tokugawa and Hanzos hero have the right quantity. It is the standard unit that is incorrect having 11. I reckon CA correctly entered the value 3 times out of 4 😆

I am glad they fixed it. This modmanager is better then the previous one. Performance is much better. But i feel that they left more bugs than actual fixes. The mini map is bugged (weird dark/black overlay) and there are still stuff that need to be fixed. Like the ninja stats issues. Artillery behavior (friendly fire bug). Mp chat. TED doesn't work after the update (important for making battle maps. Sound bug when creating new units (ranged units). And why not just convert the game to a 64bit engine? It's the best game they have on the Warscape engine. Like i do not care they create new DLC's for Shogun 2/Fots. As long as they keep on improving the game. Take the example of AO2. A 20 year old game still getting support and updates. Why? because people love it.

Custom maps such as Strongholds of the Samurai and some other mods have caused irregular crashes in the middle of battles for years (at least for me) so I don't believe it's the change in mod manager.

Ah alright I haven’t played that mod extensively so thanks for the info. I did try like mods that make custom maps with TEA or something and went into custom battles and when I tried to start the custom battle crashed to desktop so yeah maybe the ones already present in a mod have some variability and are not caused by the Mod Manager

I recommend fourstriders japan with all submods. Its abysmal unforgiving, yet highly rewarding and satisfying, crushing superior forces, especially in siege defences ;-) Just watch your budget, managing your money will be harder than managing your battles, though. Having the black ship in this mod is a experience to be indulged in, trust me ;-) You see it, you love it. If you are in for a more vanilla expanded experience, i recommend the master of strategy mod. Super fun to play, but still hard enough to be a challenge. P.S: sorry for being 7/8 months late.

Back for now but for how long 🤔CA have a long track record of breaking what doesn't need fixing and of re-introducing bugs into games. But yeah nice to have mod manager back, lucky CA didn't tout this as a "new" feature and try to sell it as a DLC 😁😁😁😁😁😁🤐🤐

At least not all custom maps crash the game. Didn't even have to reinstall strongholds of the samurai and it works fine

For me, even when I have no mods it still says modded in the top right and when I attempt to start a battle/campaign it crashes. For you it also says modded when vanilla

Huh so it’s in battles or campaign? Did you try the steps I suggested? I loaded campaign and the first battle just fine as mori a second ago, I probably should've shown that in the video I suppose.

For me it still says modded (even if I have transferred all the mods) and also the sound bugs out without the mods so I have no sound in the game

@@normanthedoorman205hmmm I would try just deleting the all the shogun 2 files in the roaming folder: go to the pathway: user/appdata%/roaming/thecreativeassembly/TW Shogun 2 and just delete all of that. Verify the game and then try running the mods? I’ve read from people on discord to try that. Hopefully it solves the issues.

When i run vanilla and modded shogun 2 i manage to get to the main menu, but the sound doesn't work and when i try to start a new campaign the game crashes when the loading bar is at half

Yeah like I said in prior videos really didn’t want any updates, glad it’s back, it’s easier to use than the previous mod manager so slight upgrade but definitely a pain for most when it comes to crashing and dealing with setting all mods up again so I understand your frustration and it’s completely justified

Do you know if the Total War launcher update was only for PCs? I'm on a Mac and still have the old launcher. I've reinstalled the game about 6 times so far with no update. I've even tried looking for the creative assembly folder where I would find the launcher but I doesn't seem to exist anywhere, even after enabling hidden folders. The solutions you provided to help eliminate old mods that were still there but now there's no way to add new ones. I think its because I still have the old launcher. Your video did help me though. Yes I couldn’t update my mods but that’s alright even if the mods aren’t updated or they are outdated they should still run perfectly fine with the game

Hey there! Can you recommend any worthwhile and (relativaely) stable mods to refresh the experience? I'm currently browsing through the Shogun 2 workshop and every interesting mod seems to have negative comments about bugs and/or broken balance :c

Hmmm there’s quiet a few although hard to say which will work. I hope Pilps has a mod list they use for campaigns that is fun to use! I like using Jaki’s unique factions, forestriders people, better maps mod (idk if that works have to test for myself), the unofficial patch mod also is nice, and all clans playable mods are fun to play as a minor clan or two!

i just loaded up the game after just changing my pc. same issue. ive done all i can and cleaned up all mods and watched this video to have a brand new game. but still when i load a moded version, when i press start campaign, it just crases immediately. i couldnt be arsed to try again cause im so peeved with trying again and again unless i can find a definite solution or those bellends at CA fix it..... Does anyone have any ideas why? FYI, i did not have any user scripts so that was the only thing i didnt do but i followed this video to the T and i have had no mods installed outside from the Steam workshop. I recently reinstalled shogun 2 which already had a list of subscribed mod's that installed when i installed the game, Launching vanilla works perfectly fine but launching modded always crashes me outright and i have 0 clue why Edit: All of the mods i have were compatible last time i played it so unless they've changed with the mod manager update somehow that is causing incompatibilities i got 0 clue

so confusing which mods are available even on your list i see mods that no longer work is there a way to get a top 10 list or something of mods that work? i used to love extended japan + 46 clans playable but they are no longer working together. Maybe even explain which major mods (that still work) can work together for a better experience. Heading to your discord to see if there are some list or collections

Which mods no longer work? All the ones on my list have worked for me. If they mod says it’s outdated usually that’s not true at all.

Has anyone been experiencing strange desync in multiplayer coop campaigns as of late? My friend and I are at the end of a campaign but everything keeps bugging out and our games stop matching up, and eventually it freezes. I'm not sure if it was a recent update that broke something, but it seems likely as we've finished campaigns with no issues in the past.

@TripleZHacker No mods, same directx version, same game version. From what I've gathered it's not a certainty to happen in every campaign, which is a relief. Campaign is beyond saving though.

Hmmm that’s odd I’ll have to see if I can find any solutions but unsure. Basically you need to go to where your save games are in shogun 2, but only do that if you need to delete the user script if you didn’t make a user script it should be fine!

I've been trying to play shogun 2 with the same mod set Pilps uses for his shogun 2 videos but the game keeps crashing whenever i load in, ive launched a campaign in vanilla and it worked fine so i don't think its an issue with my game, anyone have a solution in mind?

Did you verify the integrity of the game files? Also when did you install the mods before or after the update? Lastly there could be a comparability issue with one of the mods I doubt there is but it’s a possibility.

Hi so you’d have to go into the shogun 2 data folder and remove them manually it’s a tedious process but I recommend you do that
