Depending on your options and budget I would mod the Z06. I have a c6 Z06 making 1000hp wheel but it took a new built LS7 and blower to get there.

i got a 14 Camaro SS NA Build, im thinking on upgrading to a C6 and im on the same boat, love the Z06 but them ZR1s are something else, i’ve seen Z06 around 40K and ZR1 over 60K so big difference, both great cars but i think if you have the money i would go for the ZR1

Hi I think it would be fun to follow your build journey with your z06 as it was a car you wanted for a while plus you hardly have driven it. LOL. Plus if you are already thinking about getting a high horsepower car like super leggera or Viper would it be silly to have 2 600+ hp cars? Feel like the z06 would still be daily drivable. Either way I look forward to following!
@TexasRealEstate
@TexasRealEstate 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your input and for following my journey with these cars! You make some great points... The Z06 would still definitely be daily drivable with the mods I have in mind. I just have this habit where I take my more practical car for daily driving purposes but selling the Cayenne is going to help to force me to rack up some more miles on the Z06. And I do think it would be fun to have 2 600hp cars, thinking about it. :) Buying the Z06 was special to me in part because it was my first 500hp car (really the most hp I had up until that point was a tuned 335i coupe... Pushing I believe 370hp or so). But 500hp just has a different feel to it. I haven't yet driven a car with 600hp but am looking forward to seeing what the difference in terms of performance feels like and sharing it on here!

I like your thinking! If it weren't for the list of mods I'm considering on the Z06 / what it will all costs - I probably wouldn't be thinking about it but the more I do think about it, the ZR1 really probably is the right move for me.

I got a 08 JSB C6Z that is getting the engine rebuild, baby/street cam, long tube headers, clutch, etc. Already addressed the valve guide issue and have a CAI. Last year C6 ZR1s were just breaking into the $60K mark which was more than I was willing to spend on a fun/weekend car. You can make just as much power with a C6Z as you can on a stock C6 ZR1. Now if you plan on mod'ing the ZR1, there is potential for silly HP at the wheels. For me, it came down to price point and I still wanted to take the car on road trips. But with ZR1s hitting $50k range, I would go with the ZR1. They have them in JSB as you know :)

The JSB cars are just so incredible looking! When I picked up my 08 Z06, it really was for the same reason - being the best value in the $30k range... I can't remember what ZR1's were going for 3 years ago but I know it was way out of my range back then... Easily would have been more than double what I paid for my Z06. But seeing ZR1's trading in the $50's now makes the idea of one really appealing to me at this point / based on where I am considering putting $10k+ into the Z06 vs upgrading. In a perfect would - I could see myself picking up a driver ZR1 with 20-40k miles on the lower side of the $50k spectrum - but being there's only a few hundred examples out there - it may take some patience to find the right one when I'm ready to go. We'll see how it pans out! :)

Sounds like an awesome build - you sure did it right! Thank you for the recommendation. Did Texas Speed do the whole build? Georgetown actually is within range for me - I was looking into another shop in the Austin area if I end up going forward with my wishlist for the Z06... I think for the performance for the money building would definitely be the way to go as I'd definitely be getting a higher performance car for the money - but here's still some things about the ZR1 that make the thought of upgrading appealing to me. Decisions, decisions... Lol

Does the standard LS3 engine have valve issues ? If so, what year C6 has it. So far I’ll be looking at a C6 Grand Sport. 2010-2013
@TexasRealEstate
@TexasRealEstate 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Stephen! As far as I know, it was an issue that was notorious on the LS7's but not the other engines offered across the C6 spectrum. I'd probably dig a bit deeper but in the Corvette groups I'm a part of, I've seen (non Z06) owners on occasion point toward the idea that valve issues weren't something of a concern for them with the GS, ZR1, etc... That being said, guys with Z06's seem pretty split down the middle as to how big of a deal they feel the valve guide issue is. Some have it addressed immediately / wont buy a car that hasn't. Others are racking up high miles on cars that have never had the issue addressed. Interesting thing...
@TexasRealEstate
@TexasRealEstate 4 жыл бұрын
The Grand Sport seems like a sweet car though... I haven't driven one (really the C6 Z06 is the only Corvette I've ever driven at this point... lol) but they're sweet looking cars. I like the similarities to the Z06 cosmetically and it seems like a great balance of handling and performance.

@@nick__cars At the time I purchased my Z06 (over 3 years ago) - a ZR1 was out of the question for me due to the price point. Over twice the price and beyond what I could spend on a car at the time. Times have changed though and I'm highly considering the idea of swapping my Z06 for the right ZR1 within the next year (for me - a Jetstream blue, clean, drivers car - not one thats lived in a bubble since new). I'd probably have gone for the ZR1 from the get go if it had been within my means to even be looking into them. That being said, as I'm sure you can already see the Z06 is a phenomenal car all around - and an awesome value for the price point - and I believe the ZR1 is as well - for the next price level up.
