Since I typically just like to have one character at a time, profiles are mainly useful to have a fully vanilla profile for testing purposes. With that in mind, I didn't expect to learn too much new here. However, that tidbit about using a third party application for your ini editor was news to me, and super useful! I'm also glad for the clarification on how the overwrite folder works. It definitely seems different from MO1, but I think this approach is actually cleaner.
@gamerpoets6 жыл бұрын
Glad the video helped a bit = ) Yeah, it works different for sure. It is actually nicer than how MO1 did things but once you get use to something it becomes rough attempting to adapt. Once you do it's a pretty nice change. -Michael

@jedsanford78796 жыл бұрын
You are my go-to when I just need to know how to do something real quick. Gopher is great when I want to know how it works, why it works, and all the ways to do it. I am just switching from NMM right now, and loving MO a lot more, but there are things I dont know how to do yet. I am trying to learn custom over-writes right now. I understand how they are given priority, its kind of like having a second load order for overwrites, but I understand you can selectively over write beyond that.
@gamerpoets6 жыл бұрын
I mention that in part 2 I believe. In many cases its not worth it. I think if you go that route the best (imo) way to do it is to make the left pane mod folder of the mod you are creating the custom overwrite directory the actual output.... since mods are updated in the mod folders themselves via apps run through mo2... it would make sense to have the new files added to that same place as well. Though, i like to not do that because I want to see the new files and the only way I can be certain of what is 100% new is by letting them manifest in the overwrite folder and then drag and drop them where i want them. -Michael
@jedsanford78796 жыл бұрын
Good point- It seems unnecessary 99% of the time anyway, to want certain things to overwrite from one mod, and other things from another mod- Its super nice not having to play the memory game with NMM anymore tho, thats for sure. Kinda speaks to what you say here, keep it all shown.

Michael, I am having the hardest time getting DynDOLOD to work in MO, it keeps pathing to my oldrim and gives me errors. I will edit this comment with more specifics when I get off work in regards to installation location and all that, I'm pretty sure I made a tools folder in my main Skyrim folder with LOOT, Wrye Bash, and others . . . I don't have much time right now but I will edit with more info in a couple hours. Having said that, like mentioned below, you all at Gamer Poets have been the single motivation to use MO and take my game to the level it's at now. Thank you so much for the hard work and dedication to the program! Edit: I think 7:10 just answered my question . . . I'll try it out when I get home, I had an issue with Wrye Bash at first too and I think that's what I did to solve it.
@gamerpoets6 жыл бұрын
Appreciate your comment David = ) I haven't tried it with MO2. With MO1 it "should" work how my DynDOLOD video showed. I don't think Sheson changed much of anything to make the process different. If you are using MO1 make sure to deactivate the handle bsa checkbox when generating the files and reactivate it when done. I'm personally waiting to use DynDOLOD and SE/MO2 until I get the word from Sheson to make a new video on it (and to try it for myself). The original video took more than 200 hours to make and I don't want to put that time in until I know I should lol = ) -Michael

GamerPoets thanks for the quick response, I still can't figure it out. The SE Beta link is out on the original nexus mod page that directs to a reddit page with the download. The problem I'm having is the executable default paths to oldrim and I've scoured the comments and every other shred I could find in my spare time. No worries, I'm already working the shit out of my rig with what I've got going anyway. Many thanks again for all you do for the community.

Hey buddy, nice video yet again. A simple advise if I may. At 3:20 (just for an example) you have written a text in black on the both sides of the ini files window. You might want to change the font and the size of the letters to a more clear/visible one. Hope you understand what I mean. Not an issue, just a recommendation for improvement of your already excellent videos.

I couldn't really find the answer to figuring out how to use different bodyslide presets and skin textures to different profiles for Fallout 4. Would it work just by creating a separate profile or would I need to create a new instance, so that my settings don't override my default save game? Great video btw!
@gamerpoets4 жыл бұрын
When you have separate profiles (yes, this is what you want) all the mods will still show up from each one. The difference is that you can activate/deactivate those mods differently. New profile is fine. Glad you liked it = )

Hi Mike. I'm convinced. I'm making the switch to MO2. So far I've followed your video on; 1. Cleaning out old Fallout 4 folders, 2. Uninstalling and reinstalling Fallout 4, 3. Installing BethINI. Now I'm up to this video on MO2. Here's my question about MO2 profiles: Before I can change profiles in MO2, I have to close MO2, open BethINI then change profile there first, then reopen and select the corresponding profile in MO2? Is that how to do it right?

If I create a new profile will the scripted mods like CGO and ABR still carry over? As in do I need to manually remove the Nemesis patch files in the Overwrite section or will it not be necessary? PS: I'm pretty new to modding Skyrim at the least, so things like scripted mods potentially carrying over to the new profile and causing conflicts with a similar framework is something that I'm a bit concerned about cause I plan to create a new profile with SkySA installed, whilst on the Default one rn I've got CGO and ABR.

Can anyone in the comments help? I'm trying to switch things from NMM to MO2 but I can't seem to get loot and xEdit to work with MO2. When I open both apps through mo2 they both show the two games I had modded with NMM, Skyrim & FO4, and wont show the game I'm currently trying to mod and play, Skyrim SE. How do I properly uninstall NMM and switch over to MO2? And/or, how do I port my mod list from NMM over MO2? Ps: I started with NMM over a year ago and recently upgraded my PC specs and want to try adding more mods. I previously only used a few with NMM and I'm hoping to use MO2 to increase my mod count by about 100.

Well.....looks like I going to have to use manual installation to play a modded Skyrim. I wasted half a day following your instructions, installing the mods, etc. and all seem okay in MO2 with plug-ins. However, I launched SKSE through MO2, select start a New Game and I ended up in the starting scene despite having Alternative Start. I thought it might just be something wrong with AS, so I kept playing and turns out none of my mods run through MO2 is working. Only mods that are working are SKSE (confirm in CC) and simple graphic mods that I manually install myself. Again, waste half a day uninstalling Skyrim and MO2 multiple times and still nothing works despite following every instruction. I hate to say it, but hate the direction MO2 and modding tools in general are going aka more and more sophisticated.
@gamerpoets6 жыл бұрын
If you look at modding as "wasting" time and not as "learning" because you take your time and test everything as you go.... you will keep running into problems whether you use a manager or not. MO2 is almost identical to how MO1 worked. There's nothing extra sophisticated about it than there has been for the last 6 years. You said SKSE is running confirmed by Creation Club? Did you install nothing but the game and MO and then launch the game to see if that worked before installing mods? If you didn't simply test out launching the game through MO you didn't follow every instruction. You went ahead and added mods and after adding mods you then tested things out where the issue could lie within CC or in how SKSE was installed or whatever else. EDIT: What would make you uninstall the game? If you install the game and launch it.. see that it's working and leave the game folder alone you would never have to uninstall it. Installing a mod manager or anything else would have nothing to do with the game working or not working (and if the game works there's no reason to uninstall it). Honestly, the more I re-read your comment the more it sounds like you get frustrated then jump to conclusions, get confused, not follow every instruction (testing things before modding is part of the instructions) and due to that frustration start scrapping stuff, which used up a lot of time. Do things in a process and don't stress out about them. Shit happens. It's going to happen over and over... install the game... it works/launches? good. done. Stop doing manual modding and using a mod manager together so you don't have to worry about "maybe i installed something to the game folder that i shouldn't have?". If you decide to do things manually you should be at a point/confidence level to where you never need to watch anyone's tutorial, ever, for anything because you can troubleshoot all the way through issues on your own. So.. game works? good. Install the manager. Can you launch the game from the manager? yes? good. So mo2 was installed correctly. If it doesn't launch the game then somethings wrong. Once the game launches from MO install a mod. A simple texture mod (not manually) in mo and see if it shows up in game. You should not be talking about SKSE or CC or Alternate Start or any of that stuff if you followed the videos and are concerned about MO2 working (again, mo2 should be working before installing mods). Once MO2 works... and then that single texture mod works... now you know everything was done correctly and mods are in fact working or not... issues lie elsewhere at that point. Now, if MO isn't working/loading mods....Were you file paths set up correctly? Did you move the paths from appdata as suggested? Did you not install MO to the game folder as said. Do you have antivirus blocking it? ... something else? Don't have a rant in the comments.. ask a question and get help. Go to my discord. Go to the MO2 discord to get help (which is also mentioned in the videos). -Michael

Alright, I found out the problem, MO2 doesn't seem to work with the original 32bit Skyrim which I was trying to mod, I even check all the ini/plug-in text/ etc and all of its prefect but MO2 just doesn't seem to work with it. any info on how to get Merge Plugins to work in MO2 for Fallout 4? For which game are you trying to patch? I believe the Percus Max patcher (.jar) is at the moment 'boged' and has been for some time. I gave up and went to Ordinator. The "fix" time for PerMa according to Nexus page is 2019...if then. Can't use Skyre with SSE or Legendary. It uses only USKP. So it is Ordinator and Skrim Skill Uncapper for the win with a mess of mods to make it 'interesting'. Otherwise Ordinator will put you to sleep. Someone needs to fix/port Skyre to SSE for the next gen.

Hey Michael, thanks for the helpful MO2 videos! Does Wrye Bash work for MO2? Because every time I try to launch it through MO2, I'm greeted with this: prntscr.com/jfx955
@NuggetEternal6 жыл бұрын
Nevermind! Installing the latest version of Wrye Bash released yesterday fixed the problem! But for whatever reason, mo2 kept wanting to override my file path to the skyrim wrye bash folder, not the sse one, so I deleted mopy from the skyrim folder so that mo2 would only look at the wrye bash for sse so it would see my sse mods!
