The beaches and swamps are accurate btw. Mangroves are in brackish water meaning it’s fresh water mixed with the sea. It’s how swamps are in the Caribbean/Florida when they are closer to the ocean. Awesome review btw! :)

Really like the look of this one. Could really do with some northern lights effects in the snow biome & is just BEGGING for some cryptid or horror-themed mods. Particularly with all the dense woodland & creepy abandoned cabins dotted about. Definitely buying it when it gets finished. I hope you'll go back to covering each of these maps you've spotlighted once they are done.

Been really loving these mod map reviews. Your videos are always made to the highest quality. Great review, the map looks great...It really does need artifacts, caves and bosses though, it will be perfect with a hard snow cave and an underwater cave like the caves from The Island which you did mention. Hopefully they fix the in-game map, that's more than a 3rd of the map missing from the visible in-game map!

@@oceanbacon3535 Im in western nc and its very different from the rest of nc. More of a southern hospitality here I'd say. Was a bit of a culture shock when I got here 7 years ago. But Im liking the atmosphere. And maybe not as diverse depending on where you go. Winters tend to be longer, this year it was cold until beginning of April with a couple of warm weeks between march and April. And we have good craft beers everywhere XD I'll will say when its nice outside, its hella nice. Perfect temp, nice summer breeze and you'd wanna stay outside all day kinda weather. Air tastes good too

I tried this on ASE. I'm so pleased to see it on ASA. The Appalachians are wonderful and some real off grid characters live in those mountains. Perfect for an Ark mod map. Especially for Bob's Tall Tales train 🤠

Awesome review! But as far as the snow temps...The temperature in the Appalachian mountains varies from summer months to winter months. During the summer months or warm points in the year, the average temperatures range around 60 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. On the other hand, winter months range around 30 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

Great looking map, This needs to be official. Those of us who have played sense ASE early release and those who joined after, need something new. Not one or two dinos but an actual new map. New features, building types, something that gives the game more purpose. Also great idea but PVE and maybe PVP needs dino raids or some type of reason to have a defended base in PVE and Map mini bosses are a must.

So just to let you know there are bosses they are very rare and they roam the map the obelisks are indeed meant to be destroyed think its part of the maps lore and yes there are still terminals around so you can upload and download players and transfer between arks so still very functional the map is intended for those wanting immersion rather than all out fantasy you wont find floating islands in the sky you wont find everything you need in one part of the map you will need to travel wide and far for some resources and you will feel like the map can feel a little empty in some places for creatures but I promise you if you give this map a try you will fall in love with it, it has brought me back to a game that consistently disappointed me in recent times and I'm happy to say now I have this map I will be investing thousands of hours into it just like I did in ASE on Ragnarok and the Lost Island . It's still a WIP but it isn't as far from finished as some of the finished and released official Maps in my opinion give it a go and buy this instead of a P2W pyromane its the same price for 1000 times more content

Thank you! It is a great map. I have been keeping tabs on the Discord channel, lots of issues have been improved/implemented already! That makes sense with the Obelisks. Can i just ask what bosses? I have not seen one world boss and it took me like 15 hours to record all this footage haha, very surprised I never saw one XD

Boss fights and caves have never been important to me. It has always felt like an added grind at that point of the game. That said, it does seem incomplete without it, as it means needing to play on other maps in order to gain end-game engrams, etc. Fixing the dino spawns would be necessary for me to feel like it's worth it. I think that's why I like ARK so much. Because it's not always about the boss fights, I really love that grind personally so won't put any time into this map until the artifact caves and boss get added but yeah I agree, dino spawns need fixing. I did see that they added more creature spawns the last few days Giga, Carcha, Thyla, Beavers, Kairuku and a few more, so it's getting there slowly XD...No problem! Thanks mate :)

@@BEYPlaysGames I kind of wonder if they do add artifacts if it’s going to be somewhat similar to The center by that I mean not all the artifacts are in caves which would be interesting especially if one artifact is in the last area you covered where there’s the snow cave creatures which I just completed that cave the very first time and it was rough so hiding an artifact in that area if they add more stuff and fix the meshing that would be a nice area to search for an artifact. They could perhaps add a hidden snow cave like the sky lord cave or snow palace or something

Some mod maps have their own official servers but I believe you cannot transfer to and from official ARK maps, which does suck a little. They are basically standalone maps when it comes to official but you add them to unofficial clusters if renting servers!

I tried out ASE version last month and found it was empty of dinosaurs when I spawned in, don't know if it was meant or takes ages for dinos to load in. Map in ASE did look great and thought it would look fantastic in ASA and I was not wrong, looks awesome but yeah, it needs bosses.

I don't believe there's currently any official servers for it at the moment, but you can play it through an unofficial cluster if you are renting servers, or know someone who does. There's still obelisk terminals on the map so transfers can still be done!

I actually pronounced it as 'Ahh-pa-lay-sha' before I decided to research it. I read up that it is pronounced 2 ways depending on where you live. Google said 'Ahh-pa-lay-sha' was the British pronunciation and that the American pronunciation was 'Ahh-pa-lach-ah' which is what I went with because I am not American so figured I should pronounce it that way, so...who knows. I guess there is no incorrect way to say it haha.

This map can´t be useed, because you can´t see it on the launcher. Appalachia_WP seems to be the wrong custom map name. And when the map can´t be found, you can´t buy it, because the purchase option is shown when the login appears.

So it don´t work for me. I can´t load the mod. What did I do: I go to the nitrado server I install the mods Appalachia - Early Access and Appalachian Denizens I save the mods, and go to general to select ccustom and write the name in the writing field "custom mapname" And then it shows the text: The value "Appalachia_Official_­WP" contains invalid special chars. Use regular chars or numbers here. And if I write Appalachia_WP, what is OK for the system, but the map will not be visible in the game launcher. And that shows, something is wrong. And the same problem is with some other mod maps. But some other mod maps runs normal. Such as Insaluna or Froglar, but I always have to write Froglar_WP oder Insaluna_WP. BUt here at Appalachia it don´t work.

@@BEYPlaysGames I solve the problem. When I wrote "Appalachia_Official_WP" it don´t work. It shows a fail for some reason. So I changed the language at nitrado from german to english and now it works..

Pretty common with a lot of these premium mod maps to put a price on it before completion. Most have a free version to test run minus Appalachia which doesn't. It's still a choice, unlike Wildcard shoving paid DLC creatures down our throats. I'd much rather support these modders making a whole new map than buy the Pyromane for the same price. It takes so many hours of work to finish these maps, I can't imagine doing that if this isn't their full time job! And even though it doesn't meet my expectations in terms of missing a lot of content that I believe is needed to call a map complete I've read that these things will be added in the future so I'm happy to contribute. I like making these videos because it showcases how finished or unfinished the maps are and will help people decide if they want to buy it, not buy or even wait a while and then purchase it later on.

He's also working on a brand new mythological map that was announced in last week's community crunch. So i'm not really sure what's going on with Svartelfheim,hopefully he will still update it, it's such a good map! :(

Though i dont know specifics as premium is obviously superior so its what i play on

Nekatus has been developing a new map too which was teased in the recent Community Cruch so i'd be very surprised! I haven't played Svart in a while, is that the Premium version you're referring to?

I'm only okay with paying for mod maps, but yeah it does scare me, I will never pay for single creature mods (I've seen a few out there on the market) hate the Pyromane pay 2 win DLC creatures and no doubt there will be more coming from Wildcard, I only paid for that because I needed to use it for a video!

I was referring to the countryside in general in America, I know the map is named Appalachia but there's no desert there if i'm not mistaken? I'm not sure honestly but there is a huge desert region in-game that kinda looks like the Texas desert to me, guessing it wasn't based on Appalachia itself but i'm not American so i'm kinda learning as I go with this map XD
