Punk-pop icon is how I and other would describe Avril Lavinge whom did bring punk-pop to the masses by getting her songs played on top 40 radio when punk-pop music was confined to rock radio stations or college radio stations at the time and of course bringing those punk-pop songs of hers to top of the charts. Great news it looks like 2021 will be the year punk-pop returns to the top of the charts and Avril Lavigne has a new album coming out that she recently finished which she has confirmed will be a return to her punk-pop roots!

As a long time Avril Lavigne fan (I have every single one of her albums as well a a couple singles [Complicated and Sk8er Boi just for their b-sides]) I am super excited for you to dive into her discography. The differences between Under My Skin and The Best Damn Thing are astonishing. If you interested look up some of the unreleased b-sides from the Let Go days like Tomorrow you didn't, Take me Away (b-side version), Headset and Let Go, just to name a few. Yes there is an Avril song called Let Go and yes it is one of my favorites.

Avril Lavigne's vocals, if anything, evolved throughout her discography. You'll love UMS-era and I recommend watching her music videos too. UMS actually inspired me to listen to pop punk and heavier music back in the day. I am hoping she'll dive back in with the modern twist that this generation is coming up today.
