15:44 State violence. Three examples. Hysterectomy (uterus removed to prevent pregnancy) - state-run institutions were enforcing sterilisation of the woman. Once the woman could not get pregnant the girls became more prone to sexual abuse. A girl with an intellectual disability was made pregnant in Chandigarh by a security guard. She was forced to have an abortion. West Bengal home for psycho disabilities had become a den for sexual violation of the women housed there. Many women died from abuse. The government role in the neglect of these people shows the incompetence of governance related to disability.

04:45 She mentions the mundaneness of their lives similar to the majority of women. However, the normal pressure of domestic work while having a physical disability is doubly difficult.

08:47 Prof Ghosh comments on how despite disabled woman being able to carry out many of the roles and actually doing so the "ideal" in society is that they are not really competent at these things.

25:06 Standpoint epistemology mentioned. www.britannica.com/topic/standpoint-theory Standpoint theory, a feminist theoretical perspective that argues that knowledge stems from the social position. The perspective denies that traditional science is objective and suggests that research and theory has ignored and marginalized women and feminist ways of thinking.

25:14 She mentions how standpoint epistemology is problematic when doing research into disabled women. It can be more egalitarian but it can be problematic. If a deaf lady cannot use sign-language how can she represent herself? She cannot communicate in a generally understood language. In the field, it is problematic when the from the feminist standpoint epistemology there is an expectation fo raising consciousness/awareness of the person so they can better understand their situation and be independent in their thought/communication about their issues. If their circumstances cannot be easily changed what right does the researcher have to impose these alien concepts into their lives if they are of no practical benefit?
