Thank you for watching! What would YOU add to this wall to make it feel more complete?
@cristinahutchins1902 Жыл бұрын
I would put a big basket filled with your throw blankets--I think I recall seeing one on the other side of your living room. Could you move that there? That's free decor. Alternatively, I would buy a lower, fuller plant with large leaves and put it in a similar plant holder to the one for the eucalyptus. A philodendron or fiddle leaf fig-artificial of course-would be a nice counterbalance to the tall and thin leafed eucalyptus. Target has some on their website ranging from 32 to 36 inches in height.

I’d lean more into the length of the wall and replace the console table with a long sideboard (or two identical ones next to each other), or a storage system/low bookshelf depending on style preference and budget. I love dark wood mid century sideboards but I could also see something like ikea’s besta in brown oak there (there are companies that make custom door fronts for ikea furniture). Alternatively you could paint the bottom half of the wall a darker colour or use peel and stick. Wooden panels could also be cool. Jordan from goldenhourabode has a fab pink half-wall with a wavy edge. I could see a rock and roll version of that on that wall. I’m obsessed with your choice of candlesticks and amber glass. I also loooove your floorlamp - I’m trying to find something similar for my living room atm

Love this. I think I would haven't changed much except I think I would have done the candles and bottles on the other sides of the floral and put the floral in between the candles but I get not wanting to block the pictures. I actually have a sort of similar set up in my living room!

I’m soooo glad you put that console table there. It’s my favorite piece that you own. It’s so much more interesting than the other one (altho I really like it as well) and I think it goes with the art really well. The little tray looks good but I immediately thought of your Death Note books. As for the blank area to the left of the table, maybe something low, but maybe you don’t need anything there. Anyway- it’s looking awesome!

Steffi, love the console table and all the magic you created in that space. Personally,i would put a budda statue on the middle of the table. The come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Also, you could choose a budda head. I have a white one on my bookcase and it looks lovely. They have a lot to choose from in World Market or Home Goods. You could also put an oblong black wooden bowl and put something decorative or autumnal in the bowl. Love the apartment and thanks for taking you on the journey with you. Hillo (sic) is😅 quite the character!

I love this video. I love the console table there too. I really love the rustic look. I have no suggestions on what to put in the empty space. I think it looks great as is. I am excited to see what you put there though. I love all of your lighting. It's my favorite part of both of your apartments. The little Ikea lamp ♥

Hi Steffi, Love the way the your apartment is coming together! I'd say some kind of wood or textile for that void on the wall. Like a wooden stool or textured pouf. It would provide some warmth where there's alot of black & white and portable extra seating if needed or a basket with cozy throw that also provides some extra storage.
@stephkarto Жыл бұрын
That looks amazing! I would add a HUGE basket on the ground (either a woven rope sort of a basket or a wicker basket that's black) with blankets rolled up artfully where you had the big vase with the pompas-grass. That way you can add another layer and different textures, and you can focus on more black and white patterns OR a combo of amber (or even chartreuse to pull in the sofa) and white...or some other contrasting color... That way you focus on an additional layer and filling in the space but without getting into the "all the ducks are lined up in a row" situation you decided to avoid by moving the big white vase out of the way.

Your space is looking great Steffi😊 The console is such a pretty piece. Personally I would add interior design books, or books that show your interests... they add warmth and depth. I don't feel that you need anything in that space next to the console... it can look too cluttered in a small space❤

AWESOME LOOK! I really like the space to the left of that FAB console table left blank...because I am a MAXIMALLIST with minimalist tendencies, lol! BUT, even with that being said, if you feel like you MUST have something in that space, I think a cool wooden vintage stool or chair...like a child size (not to be sat on) just bring a little more interest to that area. But honestly with your beautiful sofa in THAT color, that wall space anchors and highlights it perfectly.

love the black table there with its arches. my thought was to put a decorative wood box in the middle - you decided on something close to that. do you have candle tools - like the ones to tend to the wicks? that would be a good place for them.🕯✨ive been meaning to buy some for myself and my renewed candle interest. i read a couple comments and saw people suggested books which crossed my mind too, maybe lying horizontal. ..now, get ready, 'cause i have some ideas lol. for the edge of the wall, maybe you could put a tall and aesthetic kitty post? 🤭i also thought of a decorative light switch, or a wall-mounted candle holder above, or a series of tiny wood shelves above and below the light switch for candles etc. BUT, the wall already looks pretty complete already! i like the basket idea many people have said, or a stool - maybe a wood step stool you might need around the house since it's pretty central? orrr maybe some personal hobby items, such as music/art/game stuffs, or exercise/yoga equipment, in a way that looks intentional and easy to grab and use there in the living room or hall area. there's an equal space on both sides of the console, which don't necessarily have to be filled, but maybe two low wood cases you could store items in - hobby stuff, books, candles, pillows, etc. they could double as seating for you or kitty. 😺or just extra space for some pillow n blankets. sorry for my long comments haha, do you enjoy brainstorming like i do? 😅💫 maybe it'll give you a clue at a whole new idea i didnt mention.💚 it could be im too tired and indecisive today lmao. 😴 for one thing, a warm, not-too-light, not-too-dark wood comes to mind for many of these ideas. maybe to soften up the black. 🪵 great job!🌳🍂💡

I like the pampas grass on the left! I think it just needs to be in a shorter vase so it's not so tall. You want something right at light switch level so your eye can bounce and it's not such a straight line.
@liisaking1247 Жыл бұрын
I like what you've done. I'm glad you removed the pampas grass. I don't like pampas grass in general (messy, dusty, old fashioned IMO) but it was really big there and very close to the corner. I know I would have been bumping into it All. The Time. Maybe I'm just much clumsier than you are but it seemed like an accident waiting to happen. I think the pattern on the front of the console table echos the wall art in a way, without adding to a "matchy-matchy" vibe. And I really like the tree in the inner corner!

I am planning for a move into my own apartment next year(yay me), and as great as command strips are, to me at least, they have their cons as well.....plus I am that guy who moves EVERYTHING around, furniture and art, almost CONSTANTLY in my spaces......and while I have always just seen Swiss cheese walls as an accepted reality in my world, lol, I have decided that I am going to be smarter in this up coming apartment and pull out a trick from bygone eras in decorating(when walls were plaster and harder to nail into): picture frame moulding (goes around the room near the ceiling and is anchored to studs) you use it with metal hooks that rest on the moulding and hang art on the hooks via decorative chains/cords/ribbons. That way I will be able to move art at will without holes or having to replace the command strips.

Thanks for the tips on how to style a big ass wall. Mine has been blank since I moved in my condo 2 years ago. The only thing I can think of for that blank space is a small round ottoman, maybe blue. It's so funny you posted this next because I have a wall I've been staring at for months unsure what to do with it. For the table if you can't paint it I've done fabric or contact paper to cover the spots you don't want to see.
@marylincherie1806 Жыл бұрын
maybe a golden light switch? I would not do much else there unless you need something like a scratch board for Helo or a trash can. Is also easier to walk without another vase, but you don't use the pathway behind your sofa for anything, do you?
@robinjones1955 Жыл бұрын
Hi Steffi.. i would add a stack of books to the console either under the tray or instead of the tray. i like the console table, but it needs to be wider (closer to the width of the 3 prints).. i think i would have added lots of storage to the wall.. like 2 twin sideboards (that have closed storage).. Or... I like the tree in that spot... however, i would have put a tall black or dark wood bookshelf.... i like books - fixtion and also larger interior designbooks, plus knickknacks etc... Im not sure - but i look forward to what happens next.

This look is so dramatic and beautiful. For the center of the counsel table I was thinking of the test tube holder you used for plant starts. I love the table there because the light from the window really shows the raised detail. The tie-in of the art and the pillow covers makes a great cohesion. Love it.

I like the wall! I would personally look for a console that had more storage because the entire wall is not functional at all, and you may want to have more storage in the future. I know you can buy “gothic wall details” that you can put on any console you find to give it similar vibes as the small one you have rhere

Perhaps a stack of books on the console table, under the tray. Tree in the corner does the trick, especially as your curved lamp kinda fills that space too. In the now empty corner maybe a basket with a lid for blankets, papers, or whatever. Not me shouting at the screen (after your first art hang) "it's too low" 😹 didn't even notice it was crooked 😹
