One of the big things you missed is that part shrinkage is calculated differently and ported over from prusa slicer. It separates out the XY shrinkage and z shrinkage and this fixed a lot of bugs with multimaterial prints on the AMS that we're causing an insane number of material changes and what not. It's the main reason that I've been running the beta since I was having some multi-material slicing issues. Orca Slicer has become a true powerhouse.

I wish more creators would suggest donating to projects like orcaslicer if they feel the software is worth a donation. It helps the devs out. They work really hard to bring us updates. I donate for orcaslicer so I did put my $ where my mouth is before writing this. lol I know I use it a lot, and without these awesome people. I wouldn’t have the software to use. 😊 Love the video, and the new features mentioned! That pressure calibration possibly becoming more automated is definitely something to watch. 🎉

Nice videos, man! I would love to see a video to create a new printing profile from ground, how setup layer heights and widths, recommended seam gap, tune Speed profile based on your max accel and speed, or how to know a good inner/outer wall layer speed and all those different parameters that most of us use with the default configs

I‘m desperately waiting for slow printing over a bridge. When you have a real fast printer, the layer above a bridge is printed super fast and that will do a lot of harm to the bridge layer. It almost feels like a bug.

5:33 with Ooze prevention I got problems when switching tool heads. It uses a m109 S command how is only good for heating and there is no tolerance set either. This leads to pauses while tool changing even when the temperature is correct because m109 s waits for a + temp increase to set nozzle temp. I didn’t checked it if they changed it for the RC. I disabled Ooze prevention and it works ok. What I would like to see is a zhop before doing the tool head switching too. I use a Snapmaker J1. Edit: RC is still using a M109 S command sadly.

My biggest question is if they finally fixed the filament selection for the ams. For months now I have not been able to send prints directly to my X1C from the slicer because selecting generic pla either in the slicers ams settings tab, or on the printer directly causes orca to think that there is support pla in that slot, causing an error not allowing me to send the print. There has also been a very annoying network bug that is causing any print I try to send to fail when sending, even if the filament selected is correct.
@ares3952 ай бұрын
Check if there's the RFID sticker from the support filament stuck somewhere in your AMS.
@RanaLoca2 ай бұрын
@@ares395 it's not that. It's the slicer itself. Bambu studio works just fine and it happens with every slot. I've also never used support pla since I just use petg for that

@@RanaLoca I've been using orca slicer with AMS and it always worked flawlessly. I've never heard of such a bizarre problem from anyone. I guess just uninstall and install 2.2. also update your AMS and the printer.
@RanaLoca2 ай бұрын
@@ares395 I've seen a couple people report the same issue in the discord, but it doesn't seem as widespread as I assumed. Printer and ams is up to date, and the fact that Bambu studio reports it properly, makes me think it's definitely orca being weird. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling before, and it didn't fix either issue. I might try an uninstaller software that I've used in the past that gets rid of all temporary files as well and see if that helps.
@ares3952 ай бұрын
@@RanaLoca If the re-install doesn't work then maybe the old version of the network plugin creates problems. I don't know exactly how to delete it. Do you have the same problems when trying to use the slicer on any other PC? Seems like an odd error, don't know where support filament would come from. I'm using 2.2 RC from github. I have the installed version, not the portable if that matters. If you feel like it you can download different portable versions and test if it's related to version it is a hassle though.

Have Orca releases got further inbetween in 2024? / I need to get into this calibration stuff from scratch. Cura was much more foolproof! Right now with Orca I've got a my printer pass a 30+ Max Flow Rate test and the prints fail even below MFR set to as low as 15. Printer head often "cuts cornerrs" leaving THICK tracks of extruded filament.

I've been saying it since a few weeks ago: IDEX printers NEED TO BECOME THE STANDARD!!!!!!!!!

Yeah it cut down print time by 20h for bigger 2 color prints and you can use different materials too. For support material or a ABS print of a wheel with TPU tread for example. I made these wheels by printing it separately before but they came off after some time.

Still hobbyists only. no surface mode and bridges are still printed midair. Not even close to Cura 4. Pressure advance sounds nice but it's an easy fix to make the printer accelerate the same in every situation. Would've been smarter to separate pressure advance vs pressure decline to make it possible to print LW PLA or other foamed filaments
