I've been playing with Dark Future for a while now, bassically since it came out. I definetly recommend it very much. It just feels a lot more immersive, and even though I already knew NC pretty well, just the fact you're looking actively for kiosks to by smokes and food stands makes you find a lot more interesting places. I just end up being on foot a lot more and marvel at all the details to be found in the city. small effect, like the sounds when you eat and drink and that little puff of smoke after smoking are also really cool. The thing that I didn't like at first, was that items like XXL Burritos give only fill about 8% of your food level, but after a while I realized that the modder(s) did a really good job at balancing here, If you were able to just find enough good quality food it would stop you from having to care about it completely. @UpperDarbyDetailing14 күн бұрын
Yeah, I’d think coming out of combat without getting hit and/or going through it particularly stylishly would actually INCREASE your Nerve.
@alaric_14 күн бұрын
Umm, that is your interpretation of the world. The violence is ONE aspect of it but it's not THE philosophy. The core philosophy of the Cyberpunk world revolves around rebellion against systemic oppression, corporate dominance, and societal decay. Mike Pondsmith, the creator of Cyberpunk, says that the world is designed as a cautionary tale. He describes it as "not an aspiration to live in," highlighting the inherent dangers of its corporate-dominated reality. If you think he created the world as pure anarchy and rampage for people indulge in, you're sorely mistaken. The mechanic of fulfilling needs to cope with the daily life is very well fitting for the world.
@aaronlauretani892113 күн бұрын
@@alaric_ I never said it was THE philosophy - strawperson. I said that manic violence had been normalized, and I merely said it was a "big part" of the dystopian nightmare of Night City. It's an element that, in my opinion, does not cohere with your merc main character suffering from anxiety after every fight. I just did a gig tonight where V killed soldiers in pursuit of a Corpo. He screamed out, "You killed them!" after the fight while my V's voice line showed that she barely cared. That's by design.

@pinkestlasagna yes, theres just nuance to this, it wont be realistic either way, you need more mechanics than just damage and health for it to be realistic. high time to killis unrealistic because you can tank multiple headshots as you said, low time to kill is unrealistic when people drop after 2 shots to the body from a 9mm which isn't impossible tbf, but somtimes people can tank over 10 and keep going (until they bleed out later at least) also not mentioning at all that in this game specifically you and a lot of enemies have cyberware armour so they would be able to potentially tank some shots to the head anyway

Didn’t get mentioned here but the Limited HUD mod is essential to round out the “immersive” overhaul. You can choose when each hud element gets hidden, like no minimap in combat for example. When I’m walking around normally there’s no HUD at all, so taking in the sights of the city isn’t obstructed by anything.

@marka100011 күн бұрын
if you could also animate a lot of the food and drink consumption then this would be S-tier. The built in UI for buying and selling is so bad, it clearly takes me out of the immersion of being in Night City. Even taking out the whole HUD was such a boost in immersion. I think Orion should limit the amount of HUD that isn't Augmented reality in-game. Like for example, if I'm buying stuff from a vendor, there should just be a selection bar, like in dialogue with all the items to buy and sell options in-game and not in menu. You'd expect Night City to be so immersive but it always takes you out of it and going into pause menus and such. I think it was deliberate how they always take you out of the game every time with a pause menu.
@yourbarber673211 күн бұрын
@@Silath01Yes you can set it so nothing appears on your hud but you can see specific markers when you either scan or zoom in with L2. Combine this with in world navigation mod and you can drive anywhere seemlessly without having to look at a mini map or only seeing a quest marker and guessing where to turn. Dark future mod limits vehicle summons and disabled fast travel (optional) so I also use transports of NC and metro transit guide so I can call a taxi or take the bus whenever I run out of summons.

Do you want enemies to eat a burger in front of you so that you KNOW they're well fed? It's a game, people eating to survive is implied. A bit different when it comes to the Nerve system but that's not hard to really consider either. The vast majority of enemies are gang members or hardened trained soldiers. The former haven't seen as much as V has and the latter also know how to deal with their own issues. The final portion of the video even showcases giving enemies abilities that are normally exclusive to V, come on bro.

@@christopherscott932 No flame here I respect you giving your opinion and this isn’t me saying you’re wrong. The only game I can think of that fits most of your criteria is Deadly Premonition. I hope it’s everything you wanted. Genuinely, it’s a cult classic. Real talk, devs don’t care to add that level of minutia. Especially when the game has a large scope. Hardcore CRPG’s like BG3 don’t even try that hard on irrelevant details. I guess your issue is with your capacity for imagination/suspension of disbelief. When I walk into a bar or restaurant I assume the people there are eating or drinking. Empirical data is unnecessary. I play with Dark Future and Enemies of NC (not hardcore22) so I have a some perspective. A mod like Dark Future encourages you to use facilities as they are intended within the game world; outside of just viewing them as a location to kill more people. Enemies of NC, among other things makes it so that enemies with sandevistan, depending on the rank (1-3), can keep up with a player sandy. In the vanilla game if the player uses a sandy, enemies with them will be just as slow as those without. With the mod, each rank will move faster than the last, and rank 3 sandy enemies can keep up with a Falcon or Apogee. So there’s an example of npc’s being able to do what you do. Hardcore22 is stupid though. Cyber-enhanced peeps shouldn’t drop in one shot, in my opinion.

An interesting mod none the less but I'm seeing a lot weak justifications and a little bit of mental gymnastics around why the "nerve" mechanic makes sense. For goodness sake you're a gun for hire, a mercenary AKA a sell sword so getting "nervous" or loosing one's nerve during a hit or assassination missions absolutely makes no sense what so ever especially around that fact that you have to do it multiple times. A gun for hire that's easily stressed by new environments, has a guilty conscience for killing people and needs to self soothe? Are folks sure they wanna play Cyberpunk at all installing this mod? Someone else in the comments already summed it up quite well that the "nerve" mechanic fundamentally misunderstands that a big part of the CP2077 philosophy is the idea that manic violence is among the things that has become the most normalized. This mod feels like it has one too many "immersive" moments that feel more like a chore than a challenge.

Very good point, you can adjust every facet of the mod so stuff like this isn’t really that big of a deal. The mod adds a ton of reasons to use items other than your health stim and that’s worth having a little bit of a shaky hand.
@syntaxusdogmata333314 күн бұрын
You read my mind. I have no problem with a game mechanic that insists I take in some occasional down time, but when I'm on a protracted mission, the last thing I need is to think about how to budget my "nerve" rating in order to see it through to the end. All too often, factors like hunger and thirst only means I have to remember to stock up before going out, and that's the long and the short of it. This doesn't make the game more fun, and certainly not more immersive. On the contrary, it ends up feeling more gamelike than lifelike.
@cynicalmemester16944 күн бұрын
Death is still something to be feared in the world or Cyberpunk. People panic whenever there's a shootout, or you're going around shooting everyone. V panics when Viktor tells her/him that they are dying. V is always scared, he just knows how to compartmentalize that feeling and do his job.

I installed the hardcore mod a while back and now I can't play without it. I hate the balancing of the base game in comparison. The only issue I have is that some semi-scripted sections become incredibly difficult; Playing as Kurt Hansen in that side gig, for example. But the trade off is worth it. Blasting people away with a Burya or opening up on groups with a MA70 HB is so much fun. Makes V feel like the boogeyman of NC, but balanced by the fact that a well placed shot can flatline you near instantly.

I had a feeling that all of the consumable food and drink items at one point in development had a much larger impact on the gameplay and was cut. There are SO many options but in the base game they all kinda do the same thing. I know that there are some drugs you can buy in PL that increase scores and do more intense stuff, but there's no addiction downside to prevent you from blowing through them and so on. This mod seems to link in the survival-lite elements of non-hardcore mode Fallout and I really like that. I think the twists are also very good, often survival mode becomes a tedious chore in games in the later game, when you have all the money in the world and can just purchase all the water and food you need - but the nerve bar and the stimulant limitations all add a really solid new dynamic that balances that out really well. Overall it's cool

for the author and anybody looking for real fun and immersion, fully turn off the hud, gun fights are so much better without the minimap. if you are on pc, install a full hud removal mod, to get rid of the outlines on npcs and loot, the health bar on enemies etc etc

I can honestly see why CDPR didn't put a survival mode in the game. "Oh do you want to make this 40-50hr game(If you do side quests) into a significantly long game, cause you have to manage your calorie intake and go back to your place to sleep? Also your gun shakes cause you're having a panic attack mid firefight! No, you'd rather us make the game better? ...Fair." IMO, just cause a game is more analogous to real life does not make it better. In fact I find it to be the opposite most times. That said, i'm glad it exists for the 1% of psychopaths out there. Keep them playing the game and not torturing the family pet or something.

I think Skyrim handled this perfectly. At the start you just get a popup "Do you want to enable survival mode?" And you either go with "yes" or "no". People who like it can use it, and people who don't just don't have to. As every game should be.

@@lunaticwastaken That wasn't in Skyrim originally either. It's not really a feature of the game itself but added later by mods, just like Cyberpunk.

@@oldmatttv Interesting. It apparently came into the Game as "CC content" with the SE version. I think it might have required a purchase then? I always thought it was part of the SE base game, since with the AE Upgrade i bought, i just got about every CC content that bethesda has. So yes, it could be seen as a mod i guess, thanks for clarifying.

i promise you're not cool and smart for implying that because i like to be challenged by video games, i must be a psychopath who tortures cats. i abso-fucking-lutely promise that "people who like actually having to think are crazy and dangerous" exclusively says things about you, not us, and believe me, the things it says about you are not positive.

id like this mod if they actually added animations and a shitload of bars and places you can go to for food and actually sit down to eat or drink. if youre making a life sim go all out i dont want to eat it out of inventory

Curious how this interacts with Wannabe Edgerunner. Would be cool if Cyber Psychosis and nueroblockers effected Nerve.

Some of the recent mods for this game are so good that they should be added and shipped with the game officially, so that even console players can enjoy them. Maybe in the future, CDPR can allow modding on consoles for CP2077.

What I love most about Dark Future is I have never used drugs or alcohol now I can get the bonuses and up my nerve while also dealing with addiction i love it i use what you do plus one extra mod i think is sadly missing i use the weapon conditioning mod which not only adds a condition to all weapons including modded weapons it adds a jamming system which is brutal when your condition drops below 50% and only upgrading the weapon can fix the weapons Ps. I also love wannabe edgerunner adding in that humanity system -dark future -hardcore 22v2 -enemies of night city -weapon conditioning -wannabe edgerunner This combo makes the gane so immersive im in love with it

You know what game would have been really cool with this "nerve" mechanic? Far Cry 3. It's kind of part of the storyline and it sort of addresses the main characters "heart of darkness" like arc, but not well enough imo. Having a debuff from committing violence that gets less and less the more you do it, until it becomes a buff but at that point you're locked into the "bad" path would have been cool. No more slaughtering an entire island with a machete and then living happily ever after with your pretty little GF.
