I got the snowman version of this keeb which comes with Magegee's own creamy switches. And I have to admit, it sounds pretty good out of the box. I wanted to change the switches on it, but now I think I will just lube the stock ones a bit more and leave them as they are. They are pretty good for stock switches. I need to find out if Magegee sells them in bigger sets. They sound very similar to Akkos stock cream yellow switches.

hey quick question how much would thosemods cost all together cuz im thinking about getting this keyboard and only have 50 dollars
@RJBaculo7 ай бұрын
Yes this mod setup was very cheap. The lube kit & tools I got for $15USD, the scotch painter's tape (2-pack) for $8USD and the keycaps were cheap almost generic ones that just had the color I liked and probably got for less than $20USD. And this Magegee keyboard always seems to be on sale ($29ish) on Amazon, if you catch the right time. Hope that helps.

Can you provide the keycaps link.
@RJBaculo7 ай бұрын
Sorry man, I can't find the link anymore. I bought it on Lazada while I was in the Philippines.

What lube do you use for the switches and stabilizers?
@RJBaculo7 ай бұрын
It was a GPL 205g0 which came in a little kit with brush, switch puller, etc and a felt travel pouch. Here's where i got it from: amzn.to/4921dxA

Does changing the key caps make a difference in the sound? Can I make my keyboard sound the same with all the mods but original key caps?
@RJBaculo5 ай бұрын
Changing keycaps can make a slight difference in sound (depending on the quality and profile of your keycaps) but really its more of an aesthetic mod. You can definitely make the keyboard sound better with different mods while keeping original keycaps.

Great video, thank you. I just bought the same keyboard and from the beginning I can hear the echoing spring sound of the keys when typing. Does this modding fixes it?
@RJBaculo6 ай бұрын
It definitely does. Adding foam and a few layers of painter's tape will eliminate that hollow echo, and the lubbing makes the key presses smooth (less springy). You'll be amazed by the difference!
@xand3r3584 ай бұрын
How many layers of tape do you recommend
@RJBaculo4 ай бұрын
Probably no more than 3 layers
@koolaidkid11126 ай бұрын
Are you sure I won’t break the keyboard when doing this?
@RJBaculo6 ай бұрын
Your only worry is damaging the PCB but if you use the right type of tape (Scoth brand painter's tape) the adhesive shouldnt be so strong as to damage the board. All the other mods are safe.
