QUESTION!! Does anyone know how long Cassandra was holding the ice cream that gave her frostbite during the "nude candy coated" photoshoot during Cycle 8?
@cristopherCVP2 жыл бұрын
It was probably for a really long time, in the bloopers episode they show that she even had to go to the hospital, in one live one of the contestants talked about how the producers didn't want to take her to the hospital and it was actually Jael who started this type of manifestation with the contestants being quiet until they finally take Cassandra to the hospital
@Jalil-wx7rh2 жыл бұрын
She held the ice cream through the entire photoshoot where she said it went numb, so I'm guessing each session is 20-30 minutes.
@shockwave.pulsar2 жыл бұрын
I think I remember hearing somewhere that it was long enough to blister which - according to online search results- can happen in less than 30 minutes when dealing with freezing temperatures or less time if it's even colder. I've gotten frostbite from liquid nitrogen on a small part of my hand and it was painful/ left a scar and it happened immediately since liquid nitrogen is extremely cold.

I love how Jessica critiques the photography as much or more than the modelling. As a young girl growing up watching this show I didn’t realize how much light and angles mattered, I don’t think many people did back then. It gave this illusion that the models had more control than they did.
@KaoticDude2 жыл бұрын
Sick of ANTM and their mixed messages. They love to blame the models when they can't do something and saying you need to tell us. If they speak up, they become a problem or if they don't do the photoshoot because of a fear or unable to do it they'll get eliminated. Let's see Catie & Chris afraid of heights, Eva & Robin afraid of spiders, Sundai couldn't swim, Laura dyslexic, Casey & Amanda who both have eye conditions, Robin, Shannon, & Anna didn't want to be nude, CariDee nearly freezing to death, Keenyah sexually harassed, Jaeda working with a racist model, etc. They had to do the shoot/challenge or else. ANTM makes it seem if you say no or speak up you're modeling career is over.

I would add Isis to the list. As a transgender woman, Isis clearly expressed her extreme discomfort with wearing bikini bottoms (and that she had never worn them before). They made her wear them even though their bodies were under water, out of frame, and wouldn’t be visible in the photos! There is absolutely no reason why Isis couldn’t wear shorts or something she felt comfortable wearing. Like the OP said, production exploits contestants’ fears, traumas, mental health, bodies, identities, spiritual beliefs, boundaries, morals, sexualities, relationships, experiences, etc. (the list is endless) by manufacturing these uncomfortable situations and photo shoots to amp up the drama and conflict.

Heather Kuzmich, who was open about having Asperger’s Syndrome, couldn’t deliver her lines in that Cover Girl commercial the girls in that season did. Jay helped her, but I think one of the reasons she was sent home was because Tyra and the rest of the panel were uncomfortable with the display of favouritism. Tyra also gave some silly speech about how maybe people on the Autism Spectrum shouldn’t compete in ANTM. But there are many people on the Spectrum who are not diagnosed or who are but don’t tell anyone. I bet there are past contestants on this show that either won or came closer than Heather did to winning that are on the Autistic Spectrum.

Isis said in an interview that they had a cameraman underwater, and she felt really insecure because she was wearing a bikini bottom and at that time she didn't have surgery. This season is especially hard to watch because of the transphobia towards Isis. The shows claims to be accepting but did nothing about the other girls (I believe Clark was one of the worst) repeatedly mocking her, talking behind her back and just straight up using slurs at some points. Instead of him pulling her aside at the fashion show he had to berate her ( I guess someone took away his power that day) in front of her peers and bosses. This particular season was not my favourite especially for how easily the judges called the models strippers, whores, hoochie especially sheena by the time she left the show both Jays, Nigel and Trya were jabbing her devaluing her sexually with that word and using it to justify why they eliminated her. I'm a chem major, I know nothing about law, but the lawyer's paralegal left, and he asked around and I wasn't working so I thought, yes, I'd so do it. The paralegal offered to train me, and the lawyer declined, then he got upset that I didn't know how to run a law office 2 weeks in. Shocking right? By the 4th week, he left on a week's trip, and there I was, alone, in a law office. Now, if you'd left me in a chem lab, I'd know what to do. Why is the designer getting upset when these ladies are on a competition trying to break into the industry? They don't know modeling like that, and he knows that. Some people and their power trips, smh.

speaking of water, I would love Jessica to do an underwater shoot 😂 I know it’s kinda impossible maybe but I just know the final shots would be breathtaking, literally

@ugh Gowon’s scalp and crunchy voice can't be impossible to find a pool to use at the very least if she has no issues getting model contacts by this point in her career. Just don't think about doing some Annie Leibovitz crazy shoot off the jump and it should be fun for everyone to try at least once.

I was thinking EXACTLY what you said about the shoot! Definitely would be sick if you could see the whole body. Either way, though, full body or just the eyes I wish they could have shown more of their face. Like, more asymmetrical coming out of the water. I'd love to see your take on this shoot!
@amberspecter2 жыл бұрын
The problem with most of these is that their faces are tilted down towards the water, so they don't look like nymphs or sea creatures rising to the surface, but like kids who can't swim barely staying afloat. Isis's was the best picture, I think, cause it didn't have that look. Also, Paulina, you're probably not reading this, but, just in case: if the arm is so distracting, it can be photoshopped out

Designer: calls model unprofessional for adding movement and working the garment. Also Designer: her walk is a mix of truck driver and stripper…. 🤔🤔🤔 (Side note: cue side by side of Tyra adding flair in her runway shows…)

Also, Jeremy Scott saying it's a fashion show not a strip show and professional models don't act like Samantha did. How laughable is that, it has to be engineered drama because have you seen a swim suit fashion show? Have you seen an actual Runway show in general? Models are asked to wear sheer tops and dresses sometimes topless with just a thong on. His commentary cant possibly be authentic.
@catinthechat012 жыл бұрын
As a bonus to your recreation videos, it would be fascinating to get an ex-contestant to do a commentary reel with you. Their reaction to your shoot juxtaposed with what they really experienced at the time would be incredible. Being able to show how technical choices impacted their final photo would be very interesting. You could add a segment at the end (if they're willing) asking what was really their "best" shot. If not, was there another pose they thought was better (and got encouraging feedback on during the shoot)? It's probably next to impossible to contact an ex-contestant, but I can see them potentially being interested in your project because it has nothing to do with gossip or tea. It would only be their experience with this specific shoot and not be obligated to extrapolate, but would be welcome to add something or discuss anything deeper.

Gotta love when the judges act like entitled babies calling these people out. I didn't see the full runway but that clip they showed, she was in a blindfold and seemed to accidentally shift the dress up when she put her hand on her hip, she was wearing tights and couldn't see so she probably didn't even know it happened. They could have explained what she did wrong instead of acting like she tore off her clothes and banged an audience member on the runway. He was SO mad that an inexperienced model made a mistake.
@Rosequartz033 Жыл бұрын
That’s exactly the problem. They aren’t there to help, but to make drama. If they really cared they would have just explained what she did wrong and how to correct that.

God I hate that goodbye from Tyra. Telling a TRANS PERSON (especially who's still in the process of transitioning) that she's LOST HERSELF? Can you imagine how that'd feel, being told your personality is gone, you're not the same, you've lost the very things that make you you? After fighting for so long to have your identity heard and respected, after all you've been through to be sure who you are, someone tells you you can no longer pursue your dream and that the person you are is gone. And all of this after being forced to wear a bikini for an eye-up shoot. She got eliminated for looking uncomfortable and the panel immediately linked it to the bikini and her being trans. They knew what they were doing. (I wouldn't be surprised at all if they did this because she's "The Trans Girl(tm)" and they needed an excuse to put her "role" in the spotlight to remind the audience of that for ratings. That, or they wanted a reason to eliminate her.) Being trans is hard enough as it is. The fear of losing who you were holds a lot of trans people back from coming out or getting treatment (eg hormone replacement therapy, puberty blockers, surgery, mental healthcare, etc.). It's a life changing decision to come out. We're often terrified that people won't see us as ourselves anymore, that everything's going to change and there's nothing to hold onto, not even a sense of self. The tonedeafness on this show isn't a shock anymore, but oof that hit me. And Tyra tossing identities out there the way she did to seem supportive right after eliminating the only trans girl because of her eyes, and telling her she doesn't understand herself or have a self.... it breaks my heart. Identity is such a personal thing, I'm disgusted by how REPEATEDLY Tyra tries to strip the girls of that ownership.

I feel bad for Isis. This season came out in 2008, so Trans rights weren't as openly talked about is it is today. She was the shows first openly Trans contestant, having to deal with being Pre-op in a house full of women, being away from home, constantly filmed and put into uncomfortable situation. I can only imagine the stress and dysmorphia.

“ Like the OP said, production exploits contestants’ fears, traumas, mental health, bodies, identities, spiritual beliefs, boundaries, morals, sexualities, relationships, experiences, etc. (the list is endless) by manufacturing these uncomfortable situations and photo shoots to amp up the drama and conflict.”

Clark's photo looks like an elegant butterfly. As far as the runway challenge, it was somewhat bizarre, specifically the VERY end of the challenge, where the Jays do something a bit drastic. Different note, the first photoshoot of Cycle 3, where they claim Ann was so difficult, was something else.
