For those of us who grew up during the heyday of enormous full-size cars of the ‘60s and ‘70s, the last of the Panther platform Crown Vics, Marquis, and Town Cars are the best bets to hold onto the magic of ultra comfortable and reliable highway cruising. Great video, HCG. 👍👍👍

Not to mention they are cheap, reliable and easy to hot rod.

I had a '72 Country Squire wagon, bought rusty in 1981. I loved that car!

Cool. I may eventually do a video specifically on the Country Squire.

I've owned numerous full size Fords over the years. From a '68 Galaxie 500, a '69 Galaxie, a '70 LTD, a '77 Ltd, an '87 LTD Crown Vic, a '92 Crown Vic, an '03 Lincoln Town Car, to a 2004 Lincoln Town Car. I've always loved them, still do.

I loved the LTD. Our neighbor got a '69 that wowed everyone. I mean, it even had POWER WINDOWS! Hidden headlights!?! Wretched excess, and I was pea green with envy. Our '66 Galaxie suddenly seemed woefully pedestrian. Another one for the Sacred Automotive Archives, HCG! Thanks!

Thanks again. I associated the LTD with 70s TV.

That black 1972 LTD convertible with the red interior was just like the one my dad had except his didn’t have the cornering lights.

Yes, I noted that in the text. A slip I make more often than I'd like to admit.

Excellent. I was watching and I was pleased you mentioned the Brazilian and Australian versions. I liked you how you covered all the details and mentioned Mercury Grand Marquis and the transitions of the American version all the way until the end. I liked the images and the effort you placed in the video. I really enjoyed this one. I was shaking my head as I was watching and listening. The Australian one in the 2000's and late 1990's look like the 1988-1994 Lincoln Continental. Taurus lives in the Middle East and China in 2024. Thank you so very much!

Brazil has had a number of interesting spin offs that I continue to find surprising. I have typically preferred the look of the big Mercs to the big Fords. It seems most places are still more into sedans than SUVs.

@@thehopelesscarguy You noticed that as well. They had the LTD and the Falcon as well. The interesting thing is how long those designs ran from the 1960's to the early 1980's. I like seeing and noting the changes in the global car market and how they create variations in the global car market or create cars we do not get. Ford and GM do it all the time. Go look at China right now and the Middle East. I like Grand Marquis better myself. It just had something extra. Not quite a Lincoln, but more than a Ford.

My late great uncle once had a 1969 LTD...but unfortunately like most cars in the Great Lakes region, it would rust out due to the rock salt that they keep putting out on the streets!
