Every single school when children are pretty much in grade school start showing them these type of shows with everyone in prison like people locked up how miserable it is and maybe they will make other choices if they see these things when I was growing up, saw scared straight and that scared the hell out of me. I never wanted to go to jail.!

I am a retired chaplain who worked at a Wisconsin DOC medium security prison. The statistics in this video are impressive and encouraging. Many of the inmates who I saw regularly for religious programs had traumatic childhoods. One man recounted to me being in gang fights in Chicago and not caring if he lived or died. Punishment wasn't a deterrent at this point in his life. He was a 40 something year old inmate when I was working. He sometimes mentioned to me his traumatic, abusive early life as young boy. He began to see negative patterns rooted in childhood to let go of. Eventually he did his time and was released. A number of years later he called me. He had gone back to Chicago and reunited with his mother. He got a job as an auto mechanic and was in trade school. For him this was a tremendous achievement. There are many inmates like him that will respond to guidance. There also some who obviously were dangerous even in prison. Most of us on the outside behave because we have a moral compass not fear of punishment. I favor rehabilitation.

I’m an Iraq combat veteran and was in an accident that killed a wonderful man.I was given 14 years .in my time in prison we started a veteran unit and program.We had classes to deal with our issues. And prepare veterans to be released.I was a founder I ,did my time and got out.I’ve been out for 4years and I feel no matter what.I can never replace the life I took.This will always be with me till the day i die.And I will never forget that man .They did a story called .K foxs news Denver inside unit 32.

Here’s what they don’t tell you. Since implementing these policies, inmate and staff assaults are increasing. Around 30 inmates were murdered in 2024 alone. A female officer was viciously raped and numerous staff have been sent to the hospital.
