Model Railway - Erewash Valley Railway Jun 2005

A short video I put together during an afternoon spent at the Erewash Valley Model Railway in 2005.
The following description is taken from their website which you may find interesting.
The society takes its name from the valley of the River Erewash which rises close to Kirkby in Ashfield and flows south to the Trent near Toton. It forms the boundary between Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire along much of its length.
The Society's membership of around 100, like the valley, comes from both counties and the cities of Derby and Nottingham.
Erewash Valley Model Engineering Society was formed in 1974. Originally based at Sandiacre the society purchased its current site in 1989 and has:
A raised track of 566ft, of 2½”, 3½” and 5” gauges
A ground level track of 1300 ft approx of 3½” 5” and 7¼” gauges
A garden railway layout of 32mm gauge track to suit “16mm scale” and “O” gauge models and a circle of 45mm gauge track to suit “Gauge 1” models.
A hard surfaced area suitable for running Traction Engines and similar models.

The Club is fortunate to own its site. As it is located within a residential area, we are obliged to prevent large traffic flows of vehicles and people. Therefore we do not carry out public running or encourage casual visitors. However if you are interested in the activities of the Society we would like to hear from you.

The Society has formal meetings on the second Monday of each month, in the evening. From May to August we met at the Track site and from September to April we meet at a local room, usually for a talk / presentation by a guest speaker. See the Calendar page for details.
There are regular Track Running sessions currently on a Friday and Sunday mornings and on Bank Holidays.
Many members also gather at the Track site of a Wednesday to carryout any maintenance work required on the site.
From time to time the Society opens its facilities for other clubs such as The Polly Owners Group, 16mm Narrow Gauge Modellers and other local societies. Go to the Calendar page for details
