Just posting a quick correction to tonight's news video - while both Bachmann & Accurascale are producing MK1 coaches, Accurascale's MK1s are the Non-gangway TO variety, the newly announced Bachmann ones are in fact different. The ones I showed were the TSOs. Apologies for any confusion I've caused!

The Rapido fireless loco looks beautiful too, theres one at Shildon that I always enjoy seeing when I visit, and this model will open up a lot of opportunities for industrial layouts like paper mills and gas works. And I love what Rapido are doing with their liveries and how that are very open to making mkre when people ask. A You Tube channel in South Africa tested the class 31 uncoupling system and found it doesn't always work as the mechanism for lifting the bar doesn't lift it high enough for some other tension lock couplings. So whilst a good idea in theory it doesn't always work in practice. Many people have older tension lock couplings which it may not work on. Also there's no set standard location height for tension lock couplings even within Bachmann's own range and this uncoupling system requires absolute precision in location heights for it to work as designed.

I'll be honest, I'm mixed about Bachmann's "copyright" takedown notice, on one hand I feel it was justified as I found that Locomotions video was just being too harsh and the direct insults at Proudman and the rest of the team were just not nessecary it seemed more like a blatant attack on Bachmann rather than a critical "roasting" video. On the other hand Bachmann had no reason to have his video traken down as he wasn't really breaking copyright nor was he being monetized for it either. Although after this fiasco it's fair to say I wont be renewing my Collectors Club with Bachmann anymore, I've frankly been utterly disappointed with the 00 gauge collectors range they've announced and I don't feel like I'm getting my money's worth here at all...

I'll go on record as saying I'm glad Bachmann has finally announced the class 31. It was no secret Bachmann were going do the 31 either, it was abundantly clear when they did the Farish N Gauge class 31 that they'd eventually do a 00 model although they did play their cards close to their chest on that one. I expect the same with the Stanier 8F eventually. I've not had much joy with the Accura 37, so am apprehensive about the class 31s I have on order from them. Bachmann on the other hand I find that while they are expensive they are also dependably reliable, and have announced some core liveries which Accurascale hasn't, so for me at least I get the liveries I want on a model I trust more.

Here we go again, one company produces a model, the other one is doing the same as if in the hole history of British trains there is no other model to chose from, I just find this a big stupidity and a waste of money. And jet so many question if the hobby is in danger, we never had so many producers as we have now, the only problem they all produce the same stuff. I would say to the producers wake up and start to produce something we haven't seen, than not so many people get bored to look at your catalogs. As for Locomotion Motion, I've looked at a few videos, don't find them appealing, It comes to me as little pretentious, "my choice and likes is the only good one and the rest is BS". He can keep this to him self and nobody is preventing me from not looking at them, on the other hand Sam is right, Bachman got out of line, and by doing, this made them self unpopular. Locomotion Motion did the same thing with Hornby, I don't doubt they weren't happy with it, but they didn't make a fuss a bout it, and this is how it should be. No i dont think Bachmann is from another world, they want to be seen as innovators but do NOT want these features on most of their range so they price it accordingly - think of it as carmakers having a limited edition of the back of prototype, before real production goes fully on. oh yes frivilous copywright claims, thats a staple of this entire site for decade, google dosent care, cottage industry it feeds loves this and noone realy dose have legal and financial backing to change things

"Lifetime" warranties cover the lifetime of the product, which could be just 1 year or 2 years depending on the manufacturer's stance, so I personally wouldn't read much into that unless they commit to a firm number. Often the term 'lifetime' is entirely redundant, as it's offering a pretty standard few years warranty. Hopefully Accurascale can clarify, rather than ride the vagueness into the sunset.

Well, what to think on this one... Excellent seeing other companies picking up Hattons' pieces. Then automatic couplers... Some loco models of the 80s by Märklin already have them (Telex-kupplung), and models can have the feature added later if so wished. Hefty prices though from OO market perspective. We've never really viewed it as real added value, but it is interesting seeing it finally arriving in OO as well. DCC is needed for it these days which easily shoots up the price over a 100 quid or more... Well then, taking a YT down seems to be the trend today. The content does come across as some cup of tea which has to be liked tbh; a bit very angry teen-aged style shall we say. However, the action by B doesn't exactly pass the maturity test either. Odd overall development from both sides. But YT is flawed in many ways as is too. Cheerio.

@@modelrailfan37 It was the first batch of the newly tooled ones and I had read the Hornby magazine review and thought I'd buy one. Given that I've got a few Hornby Gresley coaches and some LMS coaches with their super detail, sprung buffers, chassis mounted NEM pockets etc, I thought that the new Mk1's would be of similar quality. I was massively disappointed.

With accurascale with the hattons stuff, they're doing free postage, so it's like a tenner more rather than 15. And I think their warranty is awesome it covers you the same as any standard warranty. You can't blame them if they won't cover abuse and general wear and tear. I wish halfords covered my car tyres. I'm excited about the fireless loco from rapido Bachmann, though they know how to send you to sleep, Jesus wept took me 4 watches to get through that. They don't like any criticism. I'd love the hornby black 5, but hornby being hornby, it's going to end up being released for £1000. It seems to go up every time the price is mentioned :/

Mr. Motion's roast videos are quite entertaining to watch not gonna lie, hopefully Bachmann won't censor his content going forward.

Surprised no mention that Accurascale won't supply the Hattons models to retailers, huge shame and I can't help but feel that if Bachmann or Dapol had done something like that people would make so much more of a stink over it
@SamsTrains11 ай бұрын
Nope - it’s because there wouldn’t be enough to sell to retailers - they’re fulfilling the orders from Hattons, plus a small surplus to sell through their website - simple explanation and very reasonable!
@modelrailfan3711 ай бұрын
@@SamsTrains they could extend the run though. Accurascale are out to get rid of retailers I think, and we need to state this. Their practices with retailers, for the most part, are just as bad, if not worse than Hornby’s…

I think I'd agree if Accurascale hadn't inherited this project and had worked on it from day 1... but it might be that the production numbers have already been finalised!

I almost choked on my drink when I saw the price of the "deluxe" Bachmann class 30/31. £305 is outrageous. I'd rather buy a Hornby model at full price from their website than that model. Sam thought Hornby was obsessed with money. This is a new low from Bachmann.
