Tried my old GoPro instead of the Nikon this time. I also tried the new standard engine adapter with the C6-3 instead of the D-size in the V2 rocket. The payload was too heavy (parachute man) causing the rocket to nose dive into the ground. This pushed the cone into the tube requiring minor repairs to remove. I might try it one more time. The Redstone worked great twice with the C6-3 engines. The Mini "A" Heli with A10-3T engine didn't work. I used dental floss which worked but not fast enough to keep rocket from keeling over and not deploy the blades. I cut the nose off and will try again with real string next time.

Great flights. Thanks for posting. I built a estes V2 and also launched on a C6-3, and it did the exact samr thing. Ill retry with a D engine as per the recommendations.

My first Mini-A-Heli did the same thing. My second build - I soaked the nosecone and body tube with three coats of thin CA. It has crashed twice, but it was like a lawn jart and never crushed.

Thanks for watching. I glued three pennies to the fins to add more weight to give the blades more time to deploy. We'll see next time. I also thought about gluing tooth picks to the nose to give it more crash support.

I've got the new Redstone on the bench atm. I like the new all plastic fins. My old Merc was a bit hard to build with balsa but it came out fine. Sorry you lost the V2 tho. I've got that one too, but unbuilt yet. Did just the nose cone get burried or is the entire ship damaged?

The new Estes Redstone has plastic fins? I was tired of the tabs breaking off so I bought the BT-80 version from Boyce Aerospace with the 3D printed capsule and fin can. I launched it a couple times this past year. I repaired the V2 and was flown several times before I sold it on eBay. I replaced it with a Spacemonkey all plastic V2 and flown it several times. The chute has been stubborn and survived several hard landings (so far).

@@RonzRocketz Hi Ron, Yea I really like Spacemonkeys V2. Gonna save some bucks and get that one soon. Ive had the smaller one a couple times and the larger Estes one (like yours) in my stash. As far as the Estes Redstone there is like 4 versions that crossed our paths. 1921 and just released a few years ago 2167. I have both and really like the 2167. I am just finishing it now and the plastic fins are very close to the original. So easy to build. I spent days making the older classic 1921 but I like it almost as close. fun kits really. Check out Ye Old Rockets here down below, they talk about it. (sorry I put the link here but utube seems to block this, oh well)

I had the smaller one but lost first launch. The Spacemonkey needs the Apogee kit. It’s worth it.
