"I wonder what all the poor people are doing today?" 😂 I'm still laughing. Another great vid and I'll be watching diligently in the future. You're an excellent teacher whose passion should garner you even more subscribers. I've watched others doing these repairs and maintenance on old and forgotten trains but none compare to your dedication and down to earth presentations. Big 👍's up.

I really enjoy the channel and congratulations on the success and hopefully you continue to grow and have fun with it. The hobby needs people like you with all of the high dollar super detailed true to prototype models out there these days that cost $$$$$$$$$$ it is great to see someone with skills and passion showing people how to clean up and repair a lot of the older models that people can still afford. Nothing against the new stuff, but if you want to run a locomotive wide open and see if you can make it fly off the track do you want to do it with a $20 locomotive or a $700 locomotive?

I loved assembling model kits as a kid and a good chunk of my rolling stock comes from Athearn Blue Box, Roundhouse, Accurail, or '90s-era Walthers. Good way to pass an afternoon while being nostalgic over an era I never got to live in.

Great video Ron! Very cool that Lynn stopped by. He has sent me a few things over the past year. Funny thing here, my channel has been up since Dec 2014. I really think it has alot to do with topic , presentation and personality. I know that I lack in the first 2 categories. I do this for fun and have met some great folks over the years. One of these days, I will get there. Just like the railroad itself, this is a hobby. I have fun and hope that those who catch me enjoy, have fun and maybe come away with something they didnt know

It wasnt cars and girls that stopped my train addiction. In Nov. 1983, we had a house fire. From 1971 when I got my first train set to that point I had been collecting Lionel and American Flyer. Post war stuff. In 81 I got into HO and N scales. I saved alot of my money and bought lot of my stuff at yard sales and flea markets. Had family and friends giving me things too. Total loss on the house. Nothing survived. I got discouraged. For the last 10 years I have been trying to replace everything. Been a hard road. Still a long way from what I had. I love the hobby.

hey ron, any hobby is expensive. but you were able to help pay for it with your you tube channel. but you can't put a price on the hobby you love. the quirky humor you bring to the screen as you refurbish the trains is what keeps folks coming back to watch. and you show how any one with a steady hand can repair a train set. my hope is one day you will set up a train in the kitchen just to see your wife's reaction. lol be sure to have many cameras rolling.

Loved the video, gives a feeling for what does what on the youtube universe as they typically are not very forthcoming about saying how much you make. But knowing you it's not about how much money you make it's about sharing the wealth of knowledge that you have with others knowing that watching a video you made may end up helping someone else out there. And hey you made just over $4k in a year doing something you love to do, that's basically a nice tip, now go buy yourself something nice :)

I debated whether or not to pursue monetization, but for me since model railroading is a hobby for fun I'd hate to make it into something I dread. @@classicmodeltrains very welcome! I have been having great fun upgrading my $2 freight cars using your "evergreen" post on that theme as a guide. I actually had picked up 2 of those silver TYCO quad hoppers in VGN markings just like on the title page there, and I've done 'em both up, now I'm working on a west virgina coal mine scene, got some Virginian locos that are honeys and a bunch more VGN hoppers - very grateful for the inspiration!

I really enjoyed the video and openess. I knew a man who made money on side for model railroading building layouts and custom decorating shells. This is an old skool approach.

Ron, I've gotten some Model Trains etc. magazines from tge 50's , 60's and a few from the early 50's. Not all in the best condition (covers missing ) but intact. If you are interested in them, I'll give them to you. Rough guess, 20 or so copies.

It took me 15-20 video's before I started relaxing. It's nice when you get people commenting on your vid's. then you know your not talking into just a camera, your actually talking to people watching. Practice and practice will get you loosened up I guess I would say :-)
