UPDATE: Turns out RWD Model Y is NOT LFP 🧐 kzbin.info/www/bejne/maDXpIiYrKeGlZI

Yeah, I was disappointed in that as well….but will take the tax credit if that is the trade off.

I rented a rwd model 3 for a few weeks, and was surprised how fast it was when at a roll. I test drove a model y, and thought it was in chill mode it seemed so much slower than I remembered. Perhaps the my LR had a cold/hot battery pack however. Also could’ve been no longer sitting on the ground in m3. Sitting low gives the illusion you’re driving faster than you are

Had a long range Y as a loaner I was surprised and ❤ AWD juice it had, coming from a 3 RWD which is quick enough for me Has me considering the Y long range for my next purchase

I think the comparison should be between the standard model 3 vs Y. I picked up the base 3 to save as much money as I could but I really wanted the Y for the higher seating (more comfortable) and more space for my family and gear. While the $8,000 price gap was just a bit too much of a gap, the $4000 difference would have pushed me toward the Y. Although I am still not clear on the battery type. I like the real world LFP usage and range vs the 80% charged of the others.
@victor21cn9 ай бұрын
if it's LFP battery, it is equivalent to long range in daily use. Coz most long range owner only charge their battery 80% on daily use; and LFP can do 100%. So 330x80% = 264 standard range

The HEPA filter comes in handy when forest fires degrade air quality. You can still filter out a lot of the smoke without the HEPA filter just by turning on recirculating, but it’s obviously not as good as bioweapon defense mode.

I have a 3 long range 2021 and love it. Should I upgrade to the y for higher clearance and larger trunk? Or am I losing my mind....

It's not just about saving time on a road trip. Someone who doesn't have home charging can avoid going to a SC by a few days more. LR can really help
@TailosiveEV9 ай бұрын
Supercharging is far more expensive than charging from home. If you can’t charge from home the financial benefits of an EV are much smaller

@@TailosiveEV I don't mean the financial benefits. Just about comparing the differences between LR and SR

I value performance. It’s slower and doesn’t charge as fast. And no option for acceleration boost. The pedal also feels slightly less responsive. But it doesn’t matter anymore. This model isn’t even available anymore.
@starshelbie2 ай бұрын
@sloppyjoehillups is it a lot different in terms of charging speed?

In Canada standard 57999CAD Long Range 67999CAD Is really big difference for me 😂 if 4500 different I will choose Long range. But in Canada I choose standard.

Also, the LG batteries in the Long Range Model Y don't have a great charging curve (compared to the Panasonic batteries).

RWD is a great retirement car or daily driver for smaller families. It has almost as much space as our Explorer. You can still camp in it (and better camping even with AC & heat all night long!). The longer roadtrip times matters less in retirement vs cash savings upfront IMO.

If the battery is the same LFP as the uk/europe model Y then i believe its a differant to the model 3 as it uses the BYD blade LFP battery

I did a test drive recently. I asked if there was a difference in charging speed. They said they both charge to 80% in same time so equally fast 😂😂 Anyhow with recent price drop again i think will go for long range. Standard range feels slow now that im used to my model 3.

$4500 more is a no brainer for long range. Better range, much faster, AWD and faster supercharging.

I'd still go Model 3 because Crossover and SUVs are overrated, but if I had to choose a Model Y, I'd go Long Range for 2 primary reasons. Charging speed, and the third row. I find 2 row five seater SUVs to be extremely wasteful and pointless where adding a third row actually takes advantage of the space.
@ShayD890310 ай бұрын
It just all depends on the buyers situation. I have the 7 seat MYLR but only because we are a family of six. And I have a M3P and since we drives separately quite often my wife operated the Model Y as if it's a 5 seater. We plan on upgrading to a Model X and I may get rid of my 3 because it's a great value and I would probably never use the 3rd row at that point.

I’m just a family of 3 but went on a weekend road trip, with a stroller, luggage, food. Also added shopping. There was no way the M3 would have been comfortable. 5 seats or 7 the cargo space alone was a game changer for me in the Model Y.
