I am still glade I got the RWD last month and will do the range upgrade if/when it comes. The decision for me was due to insurance. My insurance company wanted $572 to add a dual motor and $170 for the rwd on a six month policy. Now I can get the range and not the insurance increase. I am in FL so I don’t need awd, my hearing isn’t great (stereo) and it is fast enough for me. So I will save $3k over the dual motor, $804 a year insurance ( never ends) and about 10 miles extra miles (over dual motor) for $2k.

Still prefer LR RWD due to lower price and slightly longer range. it snows rarely in my city anyway.

I just ordered my long range RWD with Gemini wheels which gives you the most range 320 miles , and the extra cost is not worth it if you ask me. I live in CA and it never snows where I live so why would I pay more for AWD? Plus I drive a lot and don’t want to have to get a set of 4 new tires every year. Also insurance is cheaper on RWD . I’m buying this vehicle to put more money in my pocket not to show off. 😂
@Cherries016 ай бұрын
I ordered the 2024 LR RWD based just for round town driving and commuting, but after reading and comparing to the AWD, i discovered that with $3K more, you'll get AWD, premium sound system (pretty important to me lol) and some other stuff... which I was thinking if I was wanting to upgrade the sound system, it'll cost me, plus without the AWD). I live in the San Francisco bay area, we don't get snow, barely any rain, but there are time when the AWD does come in handing when driving through curvy roads. I didn't factor the insurance... prays lol! I do drive a 2022 MDX Type S for weekend, and long distance driving.

The part of this video that talks about the "Features" comparison is somewhat INCORRECT. While the Range Stats are correct (pre-EPA update - now 310 miles) it appears the reviewer has mistakenly used the feature list of the previous "Standard Range" RWD model Y for his comparison. The new 2024 Model Y LR RWD is exactly the same as the Model Y LR AWD in every way, except that it does not have the Dual Motor. It does include the premium sound system and anything/everything else the AWD would come with standard. I have checked and then double-checked this with my Tesla advisor after watching this video. To be fair to the reviewer, Tesla has not made this information readily available anywhere on their website. Other than that, thanks for the comparison!
@Cleanerwatt7 ай бұрын
If you go to the Tesla design studio with the RWD model selected and click on "Feature Details" under the interior section, you Tesla still lists those feature differences that I mentioned in the video. I am not sure who is wrong, Tesla advisors, or Tesla's website. Keep us posted when you actually take delivery.

Thank you for pointing that out. If I had to guess, I bet you are right since they have it in writing on the website. My sales associate must be blowing smoke to sell a car. Apparently the European versions that started being delivered last month have all the bells and whistles on the LR RWD.

I should have watched your video before ordering, but the biggest factor for my decision was one you didn’t mention that I got from another channel, which is that the dual motor charges faster, max 250 as opposed to 170 for the RWD. As I live in an apartment with no chance of home charging, this will cut down on my time hanging out at Superchargers, and is better for road trips too. Dual motor ordered.

the real different is your insurance on the RWD and the LR. more mile or less mile is all depend on how you drive, the weather of your place hot or cold, even the weather of the day you drive the vehicle. Chose the AWD so you can get the sound system all the time, but the cost is more. you pay to play.

One thing I hadn't hear you mentioned what kind of battery Tesla uses for new long range RWD Model Y. LFP or 4680 as last year model? (since from 0-60mph in 6.5s therefore NCA is out of picture). If it equipped with LFP battery then it's huge advanced in range over long range AWD cause by LFP batteries can be charge up to 100% every time.
