Its just not a good feeling when you buy a plane and it gets discontinued soon after. That is why I finally got rid of my Horizon radio and planes. If they ever stop discontinuing products before they should I may get back into the little planes. I loved the little fpv pro quadcopter. It was really popular. I was amazed when it soon was discontinued. I loved my umx pt-17 and wanted another one after I wore out the first one but it was discontinued before I could get one. I loved the mcx helicopter and many others that I would buy today. The thing is nothing took its place. The best indoor helicopter was the Scout but good luck finding one. There is nothing like it out there today. It was so light that crashes seldom broke anything. I would buy two right now. I am sure someone shares my opinion on this. Nice video by the way, if I knew it would stay around for a long time with parts available I would get one of each color and a new radio.

I hear you man. There are many factors that cause this to happen. One thing for sure...if a plane/heli is selling well, and the factory in China that makes it stays in business, it ain't going anywhere anytime soon. They don't just discontinue stuff to discontinue it. Its simply business. Warehouse space is a precious commodity, and you can't have product taking up space that collects dust. The other issue is that these factories are so busy that many won't make parts for an airplane that isn't currently in production, and the ONLY reason a plane isn't currently in production would be because it doesn't sell well. If it sells well, it stays in production. If it doesn't, they try something new, and its not like they don't try to promote the bad sellers into selling well with special offers, sales, etc. first...they do. Its way easier to just rock on with a good seller than to spend two years designing and developing something else. That said, there are many planes on the HH website that have been in production for years, and many that were in production for years before they fizzled out. I've done this for a while...if I like a plane, I just get the spares I know I might need, Props, prop adapters, maybe a gear set. The other thing to remember is that parts are often available even if it isn't from the original company. I just bought a NIB RX/ESC board for a UMX Gee Bee and got her back in the air. I just searched the part # and a couple of places had them. That plane has been discontinued for 6 or 7 years. If you're willing to do a little modeling...you can keep anything flying. Also...the OG Waco was in production for several years. I suspect the new ones will be too and with the upgrades...hopefully much longer.

I am so happy with what they've done with this, The OG Waco was my very 4th rc plane, and first brushless UMX, and it remains my most flown RC plane to this day, because I still bring it along to fly when I'm out flying larger RC planes, it really is that good, and it is by far the best flying UMX I've ever flown still to this day. With mine, I placed all the control rods into their control horns at the bottom hole, to give all the control surfaces the most deflection possible, and in doing so, the Waco becomes so 3D capable it's unreal, I can't even begin to imagine it with more power, this upgrade is a dream come true.

Absolutely beautiful! Love that they used the old Pitts/Yak "stump-puller" prop! I missed out on the original. Not gonna make that mistake this time around. I'll be getting a Bumble Bee version!

Fantastic! I've been waiting for this re-release. The yellow scheme is the one I requested back in 2020 in the civilian plane thread on RCGroups, very happy to see it. The red version looks really good too... I may have to get them both. I still have 2 of the OG blue and white models, one still brand new in box. The Waco and the Pitts are definitely my favorites of the UMX line.

Really pleased about these new releases! Man, that yellow one! A dream come true. Reminds me of the old Dynam Waco I used to own and wish I still did. Now I dont have to paint my original. Safe is a welcome addition too as the original was susceptible to wind and this will expand the flight envelope. I like the idea of the 3s although for scale flying the 2s was fine. We are very lucky to have such great models. All Horizon need to do now is release that Timber X Bipe we've been secretly waiting for, you know the one that will go from mild to wild and complete the Timber range...

@@airhammer6203 I bought my Dynam Waco after a 10 year break from flying so was too rusty to fly it. Sadly I let it go after it crashed on maiden. They do come up for sale from time to time used but everyone keeps telling me to get the more expensive FMS Pitts.

Great video! I have the older blue and white one. It flies like a much bigger airplane! I pre-ordered the yellow version mainly due to kit's super high visibility. My old eyes need all the help they can get. On two cell she flies scale +. I can't wait to see what the updated yellow does on threes.Just si you know... Your videos are among the best out there, take it from me, when considering a new plane I watch up to 5 different reviewers!

I've always loved bipes, so majestic on the ground and in the sky. But Adam, the way that you fly them, so scale like (and 3D, cough) is worth all the time I watch you doing them. I only fly the RealFlight simulator now, but it is far, far cheaper than my younger hands on fiascos lol. I actually use your videos to hone my simulator skllls, Pitts 3 point landings, Waco rudder turns, and even a stab at hovering since on RF I can afford an unlimited array of momentary disasters. I was going to order one, but I see they are on pre-order. The Horizon site does not give an approximate date when they would be available, nor whether or not you can cancel the order if the wait would be excessive. (f-14 a year ago for example). Without this invormation, I won't be ordering this plane. Thank you for making such complete and informative videos. I really enjoy your style and I check the like on every one.

The Waco's will be shipping just before Thanksgiving or just after (depending on how quickly they can get them checked in/shipped out). You can always cancel a pre-order. The F-14 debacle was because of covid. The factory in China shut down. Nothing HH could do about that. They hated it too! Lol. Hope this eases your mind on pre-orders. Happy flying!

Many of us are NOT Tail Heavy Productions pilots who need to 3D EVERY aircraft or it isn't worth it. Many of us just fly for fun and realistic, fun flying is enough. Will I knife edge it? Not in my front yard anyways (its and acre) but then I generally don't knife edge much of anything anymore as I get out to fly in frequently. I wanna do that stuff, I had a SPAD 3DD for that nonsense. Thanks for a nice review. I'll put it on my list.

Thanks very much William. I'm with you. I like all kinds of flying and all kinds of planes. We are here for everyone in the hobby ...and we try to keep in mind everyone has different tastes. We actually get crap from a few because we DON'T roast planes. lol. We figure "objective review" means judge the plane based on what it was intended for and what was promised of it. Sounds fair to all involved to me. The truth is most planes nowadays either deliver just that or get so dang close it isn't worth complaining about. And yet...so many do. Lol.

I don’t think it’s comparable to the aerobatics of the Umx Pitts. Seems more of a scale flyer with good power.

Thanks! They are both very powerful on 3s. They are similar in aerobatic capability, but the Pitts has the edge a bit. Lets face it man, none of us NEED another plane period, but we sure as heck want em'! Lol. Its a fun ride...sure is pretty.

Im surprised that you could feel the weight difference through AS3X. Thoes gyros add an extra step between inputs to the airframe and how it responds. I found that it really washes out low speed "feel" of the aircraft.

Every RC aircraft is fly by wire, and the millisecond the gyro adds doesn't change much if it is set up right. Gyros can mask a lot of feel and piloting requirements, but only if the gains and priority are set incorrectly (too high). I can feel the difference, and you can see it if you pay attention. The white one will get slower. It's subtle, but there.

Struts on the Waco are plastic and never had an issue breaking that I know of...unless you really smack it. Of course, then it ain't the planes fault. Lol.

I’m curious about the umx Waco and the umx Pitts. Do they have the same motor? The Pitts sounds to me like it has a higher pitch sound than the Waco. Correct me if I’m wrong. I would like to know because I don’t like the high pitch sound. That’s a deciding factor for me on which one I want. Also, which one does a knife edge better? Thanks

They both have 1900kv motors, but with different pole counts, and different props. The Pitts is louder, but also more powerful. Both have plenty of punch, and both knife edge very well.
