Ha! Last time I checked, you guys took out the differential thrust completely, and added full length ailerons. Lol By the way. I'm still flying on the two bladed props. Good choice.

If I ever go up for a ride in one of your airplanes, it had better have extra duty seat belts and plenty of barf bags. That was interesting. And I think you gave the airframe a good proof testing. If that flying didn't break off the tail or something else - nothing will. Good job and good programming demo.

Little late watching this one, we went on a little vacation to Gatlinburg TN so I am trying to catch up. We didn't take any Airplanes on this trip, just 3 of our RC Crawlers. Awesome video as usual, big time thanks to Mrs Heidi for her awesome video work and your flying, on point like it's easy as walking to you. Great video, crazy maneuvers with that maxed out diff thrust! Question, how does the ESC get the rudder channel position data? Doesn't appear to have a lead plugged into the rudder channel and Horizon doesn't have a manual for that ESC and it doesn't show anything I can find in the Twin Timber manual other than just the single throttle channel connection. I don't have a Twin Timber (Yet) just doing some research. Thanks for any info you can provide!
@ModelAV8RChannel
@ModelAV8RChannel Жыл бұрын
Thanks man! It is a fun thing to play with. It is a programmed in mix. For instance, expo on the rudder channel affects the differential thrust as well.
@shanesdiy
@shanesdiy Жыл бұрын
@@ModelAV8RChannel I understand that but was wondering how the ESC receives the rudder signal. Must come through via the "Smart" communication like sbus, for example.
@ModelAV8RChannel
@ModelAV8RChannel Жыл бұрын
@shanesdiy Shane I'm honestly not sure. They are doing things like that with a few planes. The three flight modes on the 40mm F-14 comes to mind...you don't have to program any mix or flight mode in the TX. Its just there. I'm assuming that is something they can program through the RX or ESC. They do "built in" mixes pretty often now. I'm sure a rudder to throttle mix could be programmed the same way.

The challenge was met and exceeded. 1st double knife edge loop I ever witnessed on video and it looked as if you had plenty of power and elevation to have done more. Enjoyed the powered inverted flat spin as well. I know this plane is capable even more. Did you enjoy the whole flight experiance? Did the DT set up take away anything from normal flying? Do you feel the DT set up is going to be too much on float flights or too risky to be used on Water ( next challenge ? ) Excellent Job and Excellent Video I am already sharing it to my FB Groups.👍🛩

Hey thanks Tug. No man it flew fine normally. Check out the debrief after the flight. You need more rudder expo, you need to be smooth with rudder inputs flying normally, and it would be smart to go up gradually at 10% at a time and work your way up to full Tilt. I think it would be fine on floats. It definitely adds some capability!

If you do this through Avian Programming on the Transmitter do you set the Diff on both motors to 50, because you program each separately. I actually like how Avian Programming works on my NX8, and I thought they did a really nice job with the GUI on the Twimber.
@ModelAV8RChannel
@ModelAV8RChannel Жыл бұрын
Yep, either way you do it you have to program each motor separately. The programmer is handy. Forward programming for the ESC is available on the Twimber and EC-1500, but not on the D18 as it is an older version of the dual 40 amp.
@mariopires4391
@mariopires4391 Жыл бұрын
Thank You for Your video. If "we" have "to program each motor separately" I would like you please to explain it to me the following: - in the Twin Timber ESC programming it is verified that both in Motor "1" and in Motor "2" the Rotation are in "CW", therefore, believing that the "Motor "1" (Left = Red) is correct, shouldn't Engine "2" (Right=Green) logically be "CCW"? Thank You for your attention.
@ModelAV8RChannel
@ModelAV8RChannel Жыл бұрын
Yep, they are counter rotating props, so one CW, and one CCW. That is set at the factory though, so you shouldn't have to mess with that when you adjust the differential thrust. For what its worth...when we did it the rotation was reflected correctly in the programmer.
@mariopires4391
@mariopires4391 Жыл бұрын
Excuse my insistence, so the original "CW" setting on both engines (No. "1" / No. "2") in Twin Timber 1.6 ESC Programming IS CORRECT? So no need to change to "CCW" on Engine No. "2"? Thanks a lot for Your Attention and Patience :)@@ModelAV8RChannel

...I remember hearing that you need the bind and fly of this aircraft to be able to use diff thrust.....is this true?......and what is the name of the other twin you mentioned early in the video?
@ModelAV8RChannel
@ModelAV8RChannel Жыл бұрын
Yep, the Avian esc has to sense a SMART rx for the differential thrust to work. Technically if you put a Spektrum SMART rx in the PNP it will work, but if you used Spektrum you'd just get the BNF. It will not work with Futaba, FRSky, etc.

I wonder if there is a way to set the Diff to 50%, then actually go crazy and have one prop reversed and one forward...now that would be set to kill.
@ModelAV8RChannel
@ModelAV8RChannel Жыл бұрын
You could actually do it. When you program reverse you have to do it for both motors separately. Reverse is on a switch, so if you just program reverse on one motor, when you flip that switch...oh boy! You would have to do it at full throttle with no rudder input though, as the differential thrust will shut down one of the motors if you use rudder.

If you buy a turbo timber you will not want a timber twin it’s just trying to get sales from the success of the turbo timber it doesn’t fly as well and only has the appeal of two motors to pull you in.
@ModelAV8RChannel
@ModelAV8RChannel Жыл бұрын
You are of course entitled to your opinion, but making those statements as if those are the facts in general is a bit silly. Yes...they are trying to get every airplane to sell...that is the point of being in business. You work for free? I've flown both extensively, and while the Turbo Timber EVO it is a great plane, I still prefer the Twin Timber. It is designed to be different, to fly a bit different. That is the point. The Turbo Timber looks and flies very similar to 20 other sport bush planes out there. There is only one Twin Timber. Nothing else looks like it, and it can do things none of the single motor planes can do. Its funny how many RC pilots say "Make something different", but then when somebody does...people piss and moan because it doesn't fly like everything else they are used to. Hell if it did what would be the point? Crazy. People bad mouth the Twimber...and many are just stupidly repeating someone else's talking points. There is a lot of BS out there on this one, and that is a shame. It is a very fun airplane when you embrace what it is intended to be and what it can do. Every time the pissers and moaners hurt the sales of something different with their BS...it will be a long time before a company will risk doing anything different again. So I hope all those people are going to be happy with another regular Timber version, some UMX's, and some EDF's...the usual stuff, because thanks to them that is what we'll get for a while now.
@moleisrich1

What’s the point? I mean it’s cool and all. But… not very practical. What I want to see is fly on one engine. Like a real multi engine out. Fun stuff though.
