I can't express how happy I am to see this channel. I had heard of marvelous designer before but never saw it. As I liked your channel, I started browsing your videos and thought of checking this and must say that I am certainly gonna learn it now. Don't know how I managed without it till now. You made it seem like a piece of cake. Thank you so much

Cake will get you fat, Marvelous Designer won't .. so by logical deduction MD is better then Cake :)

Realizing there is some decent money in Arch viz and furniture design houses in need of realistic models? Workflows at most furniture design houses are going more and more to 3ds Max with Marvelous. Some are also incorporating Zbrush and of course PS. Your tuts are top notch. Thank you.

Do you now how you can make the inner part more stiff like denser filling or wadding? Presure only inflates it buts its still flexible, i want it more like stronger pillwos which can stand and dont bend
@DenisKeman
@DenisKeman 7 жыл бұрын
Make a inner pattern and inflate that one. Then freeze it so it doesn't simulate and make a bigger pattern enveloping the frozen pattern so it will consider it as a collision object.
@RomboutVersluijs
@RomboutVersluijs 7 жыл бұрын
Yes i know that one, but it always looks more like a balloon or something inflated. Im looking for a method to make square like or stiffer pillow, not the bulging one.

Hey Denis, great tutorial video. Do you know of any workflows when it comes to optimization of these pillows specifically for game engines, such as creating a low and high poly version so you can simply bake on most of the details?
@DenisKeman
@DenisKeman 7 жыл бұрын
Create a high poly model and then do a retopology model on top of the high poly. After that is done you can bake the normals from the high poly down to the retopologized model
@msupunisher

Great video and tutorial. You have have what it takes to be a great teacher. one question, how many polygons was your pillow at the end? I'm considering the render time with vray
@DenisKeman
@DenisKeman 8 жыл бұрын
+ferikasif1 Well first of all thanks for the positive feedback as i do appreciate it, and also thanks for the comment about the teaching thing as that is something i've been doing :) In any case the render time is quite fast with VRay as it's a geometry so it most of all the render times will depend on the type of material you decide to use.
@Iliya_sh72

+Denis Keman Cheers mate thanks for the quick reply. I'm using MD5 and when the pressure is 0 the pillow is flat on the ground but when I increase the pressure and simulate instead of inflating it flies away (upward). any help with that?
@DenisKeman
@DenisKeman 8 жыл бұрын
ferikasif1 Hehe the floating issue. Make sure that your gravity isn't set as negative, and also make sure you have the correct normals to be on the outside.
@Iliya_sh72
@Iliya_sh72 8 жыл бұрын
+Denis Keman Thanks that helped a lot. Is there anyway I can get the sewing lines(fold line) visible later when I export it? I'm working on a realistic scene and the thick rounded sewing line on the cushion is necessary. Is there anyway I can get that in MD or should build it manually in maya?
@DenisKeman
@DenisKeman 8 жыл бұрын
ferikasif1 Well in MD5 there is the option to make the piping visible, but if you want to have the stitching visible then it's off to your primary software being that Maya or Max ... which come to think is an awesome idea for a next video :)

Awesome video. I am going to attempt to use marvelous designer to make a body bag with a corpse in it. I need to see the outline of a corpse but it needs to be wrinkled like you did in this video. my question is, can you import a corpse model and place is inside a bag like you did with the pillow?
@DenisKeman
@DenisKeman 7 жыл бұрын
use the corpse model as an avatar and you can use it as a collision object for the body bag
@MZONE3D
@MZONE3D 7 жыл бұрын

@DenisKeman
@DenisKeman 7 жыл бұрын
MZONE Provided you use the body bag for a game asset don't forget that you don't have to export the avatar in the end as it will look as it does even if it doesn't have the body inside when you export it as an OBJ

Well I'd be interested for a tutorial on how to make at least a basic shirt and pants and I guess you can expand from there on something more advanced, I can't seem to get the basic stuff right so without a good foundation I can't go much further with a lot of success as you can imagine.

Very nice tutorial but i have to say the program has no sence of smart shortcuts and the orbit comand it's orbiting at a random point in space. Sorry for the rant the program it s nice and all of that but when u come from another 3d program into it you realise how un intuitive the program is.

why did you export the internal pillow as well, you don't need that outside of MD? If you just select the case and Export Selected it saves memory.
