The swift loop comand it´s faster than using the connect comand for adding subdivision in a plane, I use it more than the connect, sometimes the connect method work fine too. Great workflow!! and great video!! congrats guys!!

Hi thanks for your video, I always find some useful tips, I was wondering what is the benefit of having the ceiling included to the main poly object (walls), Instead of model separately a few planes to close the gaps?
@Andy_Shust Жыл бұрын
I think it's just a matter of personal preference or habit. You can easily do it with separate objects to be able to hide/unhide them independently. However the method in the video ensures that you have no holes between the walls and the ceiling, which might happen when you work with separate objects.

@mathiasbekker2114 жыл бұрын
It baffles me that 3ds Max (or any mesh software really) ended up so popular in an industry so dominated by rectangles such as architecture. This video is a prime example of how a few clicks in any surfaces/NURBS software turns into an 11 minute nightmare in 3ds Max.

I usually does this using boxes. It's much faster and it's very helpful while designing the room. We can easily play with each seperate walls. Is there anything wrong if i do that way?🤔
@ArchVizArtist4 жыл бұрын
There is a lot of methods. You can model by using boxes but it has some limitation, f.ex. using chamfer is a problem. If that's enough for you, you can use it. However, we recommend the method presented in the video, it gives more possibilities.

@ArchVizArtist4 жыл бұрын
As I mentioned in one of the previous comments, there is a few methods of doing the same thing. From our experience, this one works the best in this case. (Pro)boolean can cause some issues, so we try not to use it too often.

She just "hid" the ceiling from top view with backface cull to be able to work more efficiently in the viewport. Quads are still there. This tutorial is more like an ad for their comprehensive beginners course in archviz. In their website, before you enroll for the course they do mention that they do not do any modelling in 3ds themselves but understanding fundamentals of 3ds max is important if at all you need to edit anything later on as an archviz artist. So as a larger part of the workflow, for a professional archviz artist this is essential knowledge even though you might not use it day to day. I think that was the intent of the tutorial.
