Boomer, I'm thoroughly enjoying this new build. The manner in which you deliver the subject matter, music, the thoughts you share and of course the instruction you provide are superb! Being from the same vintage, I really appreciate what you are doing for the community and myself. It's inspiring!

I am very much looking forward to your thoughts on modeling water. It is one of the aspects of scenery that many ponder over and sometimes struggle with. Living on the water I have my own ideas but I look forward to yours. The sand bar is coming along fantastic. Great work as usual. And a big thanks for these daily updates.

There are many methods one can use to achieve water. I prefer paint and gloss mediums for this scale. I plan to explain my thoughts and opinions in a future episode. I may also drop a few tips (or reasons), in prior uploads as well. Cheers.

Hey man.Thanks for bringing nonstop videos of your layout in progress. I’m sure a lot of works goes into creating these and I am forever grateful of commitment and inspired a lot to actually doing things and not just thinking about them.

Glad you like them! This is why I adopted the "Vlog" style. This way I can offer frequent updates that don't feel dated in terms of "live" developments, etc. Cheers.

Boomer, whether sand bar or bank, it’s awesome to see how you establish its prototypical look. Tidal ripples in the sand. Contemplating over the surf, yes indeed, I hear the gulls in the distance.

Thank you! I really love the Golden products when it comes to modeling terrain like this. Furthermore, the "oxide" sand looks great as well once blended in and painted. Cheers.

Definitely will go look for the “oxide” sand. Found Golden products over here. Is a great tip indeed.

The harbor scene sounds cool. Something about a water front scene with a railroad. Sounds like a great modelling subject! Cheers.

There is always the question of why....... Old modelers do not question why do or die routine they usually say, hey mate how am I doing so.... the reply should be Great, looking fantastic!

Great to see an artists approach to model making . Its rare to see in alot of model railways . So much time spent on track plans and not enough on landscaping . I am artist myself and I build dioramas too and the acrylic texture mediums in both . The galleria black lava and the modelling paste are amazing . When I hand built my 1:200 scale white house I used them . Also if you get marble dust and Matt medium and mix into your acrylic paint it is great to create a rendered look . Kind regards Stephen .

Thank you for sharing that. I appreciate hearing from other artists concerning their views and approach to things. Cheers ~ Boomer.

As artists we see projects in a full perspective and like a landscape paintings the small details count and everything form a rock to a house have be planned out . I will watch yours with excitement and joy . Any tips I have happy to share .

I got completely drawn into the last portion of this video with you applying and sculpting the paste. It bares another question: Do you listen to music while you work? The instrumental music in the video really made it a "Zen" moment for me.
@boomerdiorama Жыл бұрын
Sometimes I listen to classical music when I sculpt.

Hi Boomer just found your channel. Really stunning layout. Is the track all hand made because it looks really good. the scenery turned out awesome. New subscriber.- Nicholas.
@boomerdiorama2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the sub! Most of the tangent (and long lengths) track, is Micro Engineering Code 70 "Flex Track." All the turnouts are scratch built with some "hand-layed" code 55 and 40 for sidings. I think the commercial track looks fantastic as well when painted. I' am happy either way. Cheers ~ Boomer.

The Fraser River is one of the most beautiful rivers in the world. It permeates my soul when I take it in. Then it comes out like this when I model. Cheers.

I have a question for you. In the museum there is a drain outlet that I want to create a stream type effect. I placed the scale riprap I wanted to use at the end. Using molding paste to adhere the rocks down, what would I do to create the water running over the rocks?
@boomerdiorama Жыл бұрын
Personally, I would use Golden - Soft Gel Gloss - Medium # 3010-5, or GAC 500 depending how fluid you want the medium. I use both.

I wonder how Golden Course Molding Paste would work as a base for gravel roads and parking lots? I haven't found a way to model them that looks realistic to me.
@boomerdiorama2 жыл бұрын
I think if you apply it with a wet spatula and stipple the edges it would look remarkable. The working time is great. Once you spend some time with this medium and really plug in, you will be amazed at the results you can achieve. It also takes paint and washes remarkable well.
@bobainsworth50572 жыл бұрын
Can you put. Molding paste on resin? I have a river but I love you sand bar. It will enhance the shore line I already have.
@boomerdiorama2 жыл бұрын
Resin is plastic. Not sure about the adherence properties, but yes you can. I have painted this product over plastic. It likes wood and canvas the best though.
