High quality 8K 3D printing AFVs including the Ford GPA, DUKW, and Sentinel tank in 1:35 scale with the new Creality Halot Mage Pro printer. The huge volume of this printer allows us to print these large models in just one or two pieces, while the 8K resolution means higher quality and fewer layer lines. You can buy yours here (bit.ly/46qDsyj) with a £50/$50/€50 discount using the code SASHM50.
The Creality Halot Mage Pro printer was received free of charge for the purpose of review but the opinions in this video are my own.
The 3D model files I printed for this review were paid for by me.

just a couple of tips, nice video BTW, if you soak the parts in hot hot water the supports will come away a lot easier with less marking. In some shots the resin looks a bit over exposed and making the details a little softer than they could be, HOWEVER the support failures would suggest that the cure time is a little low... you should print off some of the calibration wafers and see what it shows. The diagonal layer lines you wondered about are layer shifts where somethingmoved on the model as it was printing, most likely when the supports failed on the wheels or the main hull peeling from the build plate. lastly with presupported models they tend to be a tad iffy, changing the support settings on depth etc makes a massive difference to how well they come off the model and can hold etc.

Thanks. Yes, I was still trying to fine tune things when I made this video. So many variables!

Amazing evolution of modeling, as the old saying goes " it's Greek to me" . I'm wondering how similar the machine is to the one they use on the International Space Station. In times past, automobile manufacturers made full size prototypes using clay . I suspect they may use a 3D printed In the computer age. As you referenced it is a niche market , however your video would indicate a reasonably large niche. One advantage over box kits is you don't need a separate room for your " stash" :-) The sprues are very unique as well. Thanks for sharing this different option to the box modeling world.

Thanks - I'm glad you found it interesting. It certainly is another powerful tool in the toolbox. There's also a new world of "hybrid" options - e.g. buying a Sherman plastic kit but then 3D printing a mine sweeper attachment for the front that might have otherwise been hard to buy as a kit or scratchbuild.

A thorough and well presented review, MN...it must be the educator in you coming to the fore :). I can see that 3D printing is becoming more popular with modellers of all skill levels and it is good that your opinion supports the many possible options for the variety of printers you have and still use. Alas, I would be in the dog house if one more electronic object (or three) turned up in the model room :b.

Looks good. I have an anycubic printer, which is great for me. However this new model looks much better. As far as resin, I have had 100% success with Creality resin and only about 65% with anycubic resin. so I am more of a fan of Creality now, than I was with anycubic. Of course horse for courses.

Thanks - that's really interesting feedback. I guess it just goes to show how many variables there are in producing a (hopefully) successful 3D print!

Tes. I am no professional. i print figures, missiles. seats and bombs for my models. i live in Thailand and have found that Creality(my favourite resin) is quite hard to get here nowadayx.

*"Wait and see", the next generation of 3D printers will be bigger, faster and more efficient, but what about the price? And the files to download, the resin to buy ... it's not tomorrow that i will invest in such (efficient) stuff, even if they are really interesting. Thanks for this video MN!*

Very fair - there are a lot of costs associated with it, including PPE and IPA if you are using regular resin rather than water washable resin.

Anyone managed to print a 1.8/2m German star antenna? Can't get mine robust enough to stand support removal

I haven't tried that but I have tried spears on some 1/35 figures and they printed but were not robust enough. They bent under their own weight.

Hi,What printer would you recommend for good quality for 1/35 accecories for a price of under £500?
@ModelNerd
@ModelNerd 11 ай бұрын
I really liked my Creality Halot One Plus, which should be available for a decent price now. Before that I had an Anycubic Photon Mono, which is a bit smaller but easily enough for accessories and figures. Both of these are slightly older printers but there are most likely replacement models in the same price bracket. You can often get good deals with the wash and cure machine too.

Hello. Very nice video. I'm looking to buy a 3D printer for my tanks 1/35. In your opinion what whould be a good printer to start and be able to print 1/35 model tanks. Thank you!
@ModelNerd

To be honest I'd start by looking for sources of quality 3D models first and then maybe consider a smaller printer to see if you like the hobby. It is messy, expensive for consumables, and can be frustrating.

Is there any difference between the pro and the regular Halot Mage?
@ModelNerd

To be honest, I'm not sure. I did read a comparison somewhere that described a couple of the extra features of the Pro (the pump was one of them I believe). But aside from that, I'm not sure.

Rick, don't worry too much. One of the things about Aladin Models, where I got these, is that they will slice them specifically for each user's printer. So you might have to (for example) print the tank and the turret separately, but it should be possible.
