I'm a porter, stout, and IPA guy and tend to go for local stuff, but i gotta keep it real this is my preferred mexican beer to sip on nice and cold after a day of yard work, or to pair with taco night. Blows the America lagers and corona out of the water imo. A nice balanced and easy drink, appreciate the review sir! Cheers from Michigan USA

People in Texas, grill lots of meat year round. By grill I mean with Charcoal or mostly Mesquite wood. In the summer like now, nothing goes better than a cold Modelo, while grilling outside in the Texas heat. Add Fajitas, hot links (sausage) good steaks and maybe some chicken. Modelo is very refreshing, satisfying and quenching, but never fills you up. There is a Dark Modelo called "Modelo Negra" which is a little more stout, but just as good. Good review ! i am not a beer drinker but whenever i go to a mexican restaurant i always ordered Negra Modelo, excellent beer. I have drunk Bud, heiniken, michelob, and so on but Negra Modelo is a top beer for me. try it you will like it.

Nice review man. I'm an Aussie who lives in the US and I just decided to buy this for the first time and I love it, it reminds me of the cheap lagers we get back home in Australia, it has that nice bitter beer taste you expect from a lager. All of the cheap popular cheap lagers here in the US like Budweiser, Corona, Coors and Miller are terrible and basically taste like carbonated water with a slight beer after-taste to m, so it's great to finally find a lager here that I actually really enjoy and reminds me of home.

I am from USA and I am half Puerto Rican and half German, Irish, Scottish and I am very picky when it comes to Beer and I love this Beer because it's not watered down like a lot of American Beers do.. I really love #1 it has body to it big plus. Great Beer to enjoy

Hello Paul. I am from Monterrey Mexico that happens to be the cradle of beer in Mexico. I personally have a fridge with between 350-400 bottles of beers of all types all the time since I not only drink a lot of beers, but also have lots of friends to entretain. Mexican beer for me is the best beer if you happen to live in Mexico because they are easy to drink and refreshing. In Mexico we have 6-8 months of the year temperatures 85f + and here in Monterrey 100f+ for 3 months so you need a very easy to drink and simple beer. We cannot drink complex beers or with higher alcohol content. You will never find stouts for example around here. Mexico image is party, beach, sun, etc, and our beers reflect that. Of course a Urquel, a New Castle, Guiness, etc bring MUCH more complexities and nuances , but we do not want that around here, we want a very easy to drink beer that does not tate like carbonated water like most beers from our neighbors from the North seem to enjoy. Modelo is definitely not a beer that I personally enjoy a lot, and maybe I would rate it a 7/10 points. For me I like Tecate, Bohemia, Carta Blanca, Negra Modelo, and Superior. I like beers from England but I personally drink them only during winter around here. Great reviews and cheers!

I would agree. I think another consideration would be the type of culture and cuisine Mexico has. I've never been to a Mexican party without heaps of great food going around... tacos, carne, ceviche, etc. The cuisine is full of citrus-y flavors, both with and without spice! Model pairs really well when you're eating, as it's both refreshing, light, and compliments the food. Good beer!

I think the chemical after taste your tasting is the mexican corn(maise) It's very distinctive especially compared to Canadian and American Corn.

Love modelo for me one of the best Mexican beers. British people have a different taste for beer than us here in the states. Have not tried one British beer that I can say I actually like.

I speak to many Americans who I have a mutual appreciation of certain beers with. How many British beers have you tried, which one’s? Perhaps I can direct you into the path of some good one’s

New castle, bodingtons & Guinness. And Guinness would be the only one I actually enjoyed. Again that’s pretty much all we have available here in Texas.

What's up!. I tried Modelo Negra and thought it was great. I will usually drink the regular though because of the taste. Now....I bought a beer in the supermarket (I live in NY.)and it was horrible!!!! this "Leffe" blonde. what is it that they do that that makes this beer taste so terrible?????ahhhhhhh By the way , I loved your review of the Trooper Beer!!!! awesome .
