I am amazed at how far weather forecasting has come. In 1960 I was 12yrs old and lived in Ft Lauderdale, Fl and we had a hurricane approaching. The high winds took out the forecast center radar equipment so there was no tracking to tell us when it would hit us. A popular local radio station had the idea to ask it's listeners to call in with their address when the eye reached them, and by doing that they were able to triangulate the storm track and tell us when to expect it. Crowd Sourcing at it's best. Weather Forecasting has come so far since those days.

We have not even had one snowfall that exceeded 4 inches yet in Upper Michigan on the top of Lake Michigan. Right now there is less than 2 inches on the ground. We are expecting a half an inch tonight of dry fluffy snow. The next 9 days are mostly clear.

In Northeast Pa we've only had it snow two times all winter. One storm brought 4 inches back in November and the other 3 inches right before the major cold hit in January. That's been it. I think you guys up there have gotten a lot more consistently, but smaller storms.

@@Day_Dreamer90 correct. for awhile there i had to sweep off the car like three times a week with a dusting of snow. I only had to shovel the sidewalk four or five times. Our biggest precipitation event was almost a week of rain.

I'm loving the GFS model run because the EURO gives Northeast PA storm after storm but mostly ice storms. GFS has us cold enough for snow. Fingers crossed for snow or rain, and not ice. My weather apps are quietly showing snow for my area like 5 out of the 10 days. But it keeps flip flopping back and forth between all rain and a rain and snow mix. Looking like the week of Valentine's Day Could be a snowy week for us! 🌨️❄️🤞

It’s snowing in Aberdeen, WA. We are not that far from the ocean. It hasn’t snowed here in years. Makes the trees look frosted. The ONLY thing that I miss about South Carolina is the thunderstorms.

Here in Bellevue, NE we are in one of our driest winters on record. A record amount of 0.05" of ANY moisture. Any moisture keeps going ALL around us.

From everything I've looked at, & been watching the models myself it won't be an early spring, a late one actually here in PA. Today here in west central PA struggled to get out of the teens. Tomorrow calling for 4" of snow...55 on Monday then cold again with many snow & ice storms hitting. We've had about a foot of snow pack here since Xmas, but with all the rain yesterday it melted it a lot and now tons of ice. Was happy about snow tomorrow but 55 Monday sucks! 🙄

Actually starting to look like something similar to March 2018 is coming together on the European model, and back to back strong nor'easters and snow and ICE systems will cause huge problems up here in New England.

Why is it so hard to get a true east coast storm these days. It's been years since eastern Pa got pummeled by snow. All the storms plow through the great lakes bringer warm air and rain or slide under us when it is cold enough. Where is the big trough feeding gulf moisture straight up the coast into a blocking high pressure?

For the last month or so the models have shown above normal temperatures in Alaska which is not good for the long-term trend of melting permafrost. Perhaps you could comment on Alaska once in a while. Thanks!

Turns out the 2-4 inches predicted in Northern, WI, MN and UP was actually 0.5 inches. Both models have continued to be so far off, you're better off with an almanac. These models have to be giving a 5% chance of what this guy is actually showing.

Depends on what area you live in. Typically in my area the sun begins to get more pleasant again in mid to late March and our snowpack is usually gone towards the end of April to Early May.
